I am a feminist. I strongly support the rights of sex workers to practice their work without fear of arrest, and for their clients to purchase their services in the same safety. Generally abolitionists tend to fall into two camps: right-wing Christian types, who I'm convinced just can't handle the idea of women making that much cash, and "radical" feminists, who think they know better than sex workers that all monetary transactions for sex are exploitation. Both crowds can go fuck themselves. Sex work isn't easy work, and it's not just fucking; generally you have to put on quite the show, being friendly and warm and accommodating with people you don't particularly like, making good conversation and so forth. The really high end sex workers are like legit therapists as part of their jobs. They deserve high compensation for their work. To the conservatives I say, hey man this is the fuckin market speaking, what do you want? To the "rad"fems I say, listen buddy after we've overthrown capitalism I'll listen to you but in the meantime people gotta eat.

I think exploitation in the sex industry CERTAINLY EXISTS. I think there is such a thing as women and men who are slaves; addicts and the homeless who are only doing sex work because they're desperate; and people being coerced or otherwise manipulated into doing things they don't want to do, even if they may have freely agreed to do some sex work. Generally I think their pimps and clients should get their brains splashed across an alley, but the point is that not all sex work looks like that. Not even most sex work looks like that. Sex work should be immediately decriminalized. We have laws against slavery and assault and rape don't we? Enforce them!

Also, sex workers are great for dudes with hilariously limited understandings of women (ahem).

It's mostly legal where I live (UK) and I think it should stay that way. I have a friend who is an escort and she enjoys her work and gets paid well for it. She advertises her services online and actually gets far fewer creepy messages and unpleasant people than she does on dating sites. This is also definitely one of those industries which is more dangerous if left to the black market so legality helps protect both sex workers and their customers. The industry itself will always exist no matter what so why make it more dangerous than it needs to be? I think the same about the drug market.

Prostitution isn't the issue - the exploitation of prostitutes is. So if we could set up some sort of legal database, a licensing process with education on STIs, how to keep yourself safe from crazies, etc., and a certain amount of documentation, we could still crack down on the pimps who are abusing the women and let the women who want to do it of their own accord enter into the industry. This sort of process wouldn't do anything to exacerbate the existing problems with prostitution as far as I can tell, but it would give free prostitutes a legal, far safer way of engaging in their practice.

As for the moral standing of prostitution, I see absolutely no reason why it should be an issue. I mean honestly, a woman can give up her body for mutual pleasure (or if you're RP, indirectly for a man's money), but she can't give up her body for money? The act is still consensual because she is, well, consenting to do it, just not for the reason most people consent to it. I don't think sex is morally wrong in any situation except nonconsensual or coercive situations, so unless the woman is being coerced or raped, where is the harm? There is a demand, and they're filling a supply. Woot. I'm not RP, btw, I prefer that label to BP.

Prostitution in itself is not a big deal but I think it's damaging to women as whole. And I think it's good for young women to understand that prostitution is the oldest profession, but not a valuable one.

Prostitution is very cheap. Even if you're spending 10k a night the prostitutes is extremely inexpensive compared to a regularly lady. Sex with a regular lady can be infinitely more complexity and consequences and come with the higher price tag over time. Surely you could have FWB that you fuck a lot, but developing feelings and exiting the relationship can prove difficult. But is she going to do the thing 10k prostitute will do? Unlikely. Pros are pros for a reason, this point should not be muddle. And pussy isn't pussy, it's just hard to value. The only difference between a prostitute and a regular lady is when the money, or currency, is transacted, and the frequency and amounts. In regular, world we would call this type of woman noble, and pious for holding out properly, once she has been penetrated.

It's kind of silly question cause prostitution doesn't matter, it's ladies putting finite value on their pussy, or acts. It's really a question of whether a person can value pussy with money at all, and exit unscathed. Unfortunately, this is not so easy to the dismay of scores of sex workers. Of course women on the other side have found a way to compete with these women by exploiting this very weakness in their logic.

Prostitution should be legal so that women and men have jobs and that men don't shoot up a college just because they're sexually frustrated
