Both of my parents were abusive assholes, both to eachother and to my and my sibs. Everyone in the friend and family group either hates or barely tolerates my dad, and buys every story about him. However, my mom is LOVED. She has 5000 friends on FB. No one questions her ways, ever, and the few people I opened up to have pretty much told me they can support me from afar, but they won't do anything to jeopardize their relationship with my mother.

I feel like this is a bit of a pussypass. My mom did horrible things to me, and no one really believes it because she's my mom. No one ever takes people seriously when it's their mom who is abusive, like women can't be capable of beating their kids. I feel like this is the biggest pussypass of all, because there are so many of us who never get recognition because we are buried under "BUT SHE'S YOU MOTHER."
