The simple answer for her would've been that she'll be more than happy to debate her congressional seat opponent, "if Shapiro wants to debate politicians he should step up and get in the ring". This would have been a straightforward dismissal and a solid burn.

Instead, she pulled misogyny right out of thin air.

The comparison to catcalling was so out of left field that even her supporters have found themselves noticing how weak a response she offered. If this is the best she can do when dealing with an amateur how is she going to perform against a pro?

Thr whole point of this isnt the fact she does want to debate him. Its the fact she instantly tried to turn this in a situation where she is a victim of sexism.

She does not wanna debate fine, say no and move on or ignore. That is perfectly reasonable and logical. But to somehow equate a request for a debate to sexist catcalling just shows she is actively trying to use this event for vicitim points. That is a problem. I think the problem in the states at the moment is perfectly summed up in the comments section of this post.

At first all is well with people, rightfully, calling her out for using identity politics instead of simply saying "hey im here to debate politicians and that's it" to avoid being outwitted by a professional in the practice.

But so quickly it turns to extrapolating her wrongdoing and applying it to "the left", "the dnc" etc

Can we stop with party affilitations and accept that politics is in dissorray on both sides of the aisle and that party politics makes it impossible for those who do wrong to be held accountable?

No more "leftist snowflakes" and instead hold this woman solely responsible for her bullshit and the same for each and every person who diminishes the position they hold and the people they represent.

There isnt a left, right, democratic or republican anymore. There is only those who do the wrong thing and those doing it right. End of. Support who does it right regardless of their background or creed and we'll finally see the US step back up to the plate.
