Me and my SO are both 20 and have been in a relationship for almost a year. He is an amazing, intelligent and attentive guy and we are committed to making the long distance relationship worth it.
He just went on exchange and we're going to be long distance for 8 months, with me coming to the country he's studying in, during his break and going on a month long holiday together. The holiday is 4 month away which is not too bad, but even though he hasn't been away for long I already really miss him. The timezone he's in in is thankfully only 2 hours behind mine so that's not going to be a big issue.
Before he left we spend quite a lot of time together (3/4 whole days a week), since we are both still students, and he didn't have a job because he knew he was going on exchange soon and I only worked 2 days a week.
I need advice on how to not become really clingy and annoying. I'm already really missing him and get really emotional about him leaving (crying, making weird scenarios in my head etc). I know that he will be busy and just in general doesn't like talking on the phone/Skyping as frequently as I would like us to talk (for me it would be everyday), and he would want to Skype his friends on some days too.
So far he has been texting me and sending me pictures here and there, but not calling me. What is a good approach on deciding how often we call each other/have video calls? We talked about doing stuff like watching movies at the same time, playing games and getting the same food and eating it together, but we haven't really set a schedule or anything like that.
Whats a good way of letting him know my needs without coming of as annoying. Should I let him decide how often we phone call and talk in general? Or should I tell him that I want to talk everyday and if so how do I do so without sounding clingy.
Overall I'm just looking for any long distance relationship advice or tips from anyone who has been in one, or can offer some insight.
