Hello!

I have lurked Reddit a long time and have never commented until now, but I think this may be the community I am looking for! Sorry in advance if I make any mistakes, English is not my first language.

I'm a recently engaged-to-be-married 23 year old woman who abides by a fairly traditional relationship with my man, his family and what little of society we involve ourself in. We are mildly religious, I'm adjusting to American life (I am French and moved here to be with him) and we consider ourselves conservatives, although conservatism here is a bit different than from home.

However, we currently live in Portland which is very liberal and we don't find a lot of likeminded people here and I was hoping someone else could tell me about fitting in to a new community and where we might find other likeminded people? We also find it difficult to relate to our non RP friends (most of them have self-identified as polygamous, atheist, ect.) and do not seem to have any prospects in life other than division and social activism. We are beginning to shy away from them but it is very difficult.

Hopefully I can make some friends here? It would be nice to be in a community with other women who share similar views!

I was also wondering if I could find some resources for my man about taking on more of a leadership role? We're doing just fine but I feel as if he might want a bit of reinforcement since we didn't really have a name for the things we believed until we met each other and it would be nice for him to get involved too.
