You go girl! Just focus on one goal at a time :) Do you journal? You might find it helpful for clarifying your goals and tracking progress!

I'll weigh in as an older married lady (10+ years with the same man). I agree that sex is super important in a LTR, for women and men. However, in a true longterm relationship there will be ups and downs with sex. If you're going to be together potentially for 40, 50, 60 years, of course there will be periods of time when you're more partners than lovers. The test of a true relationship is whether it bounces back to being lovers or just stays as platonic/roommates. For example, after DH lost his…

You need to separate what you can control and what you can't control. Would it be nice if this were all happening and you were having these realizations at 19? Sure! But life happens, and you are where you are now. If you don't work on yourself now, you'll be typing a similar post at 35, so even though you're freaked about dating in your 30s you have to address the real issues first or no relationship will ever work the way you want it to. I think it's also good to look at personal goals in a re…

Yeah I've never understood the concept of sitting down and having a big chat about things that should be apparent. If you have to have the talk to see if he wants commitment, he probably doesn't. Men are fairly territorial in my experience, unless they're just playing around.

I don't ever try to argue about relationship dynamics or try to have that conversation, I just side step it. I think the best defense is showcasing your happiness, being open about how proud you are of your husband (I brag on my man all the time), and expressing enjoyment over their "concerns". So like, "does HE ever cook for YOU??? gasp" and then I say, "oh no, I would hate that because I love to cook. actually he just surprised me with a new knife set out of the blue!" That kind of thing. I fi…

I was always this type of woman. I went through life in a liberal arts college in a large city where every woman I knew mocked me for catering to my boyfriend and being monogamous. At age 19 other girls laughed at me for wanting to bake cookies for my boyfriend, when I was just trying to be sweet and nice. None of this was a conversion for me, I was always like this! My mom is a gold star feminist who didn't allow me to have dolls or shave my legs, the end result for me was hiding Vogue magazine…

I think formerly "independent" women feel like a burden on men when they take from them because they don't really understand what they have to give. Every "independent" woman I've known has had no issue taking advice and emotional support from her girlfriends, money from her parents, advice from a teacher or mentor, guidance from a therapist, etc. Just think of all the people you have accepted help from, why were you ok with that? The thing is, what we as women seek from men is not identical to …

The first time we saw each other I had this intense feeling of my stomach dropping, almost like being on an elevator in free fall. My heart rate skyrocketed and I just had this thought of, "that's him". Then we got to know each other and it was like being on a beautiful blurry carousel of experiences. I just respected him as a man in such a genuine non-forced way, which then made him even sexier to me but also safe and stable, like I could depend on him from day 1. Now it's honestly even better …

Be up front. Men like direct communication but hate desperation, that's the difference you're looking to define. Tell him, "hey, I've loved this thing and this thing and this other thing about you/we did, and I like hanging out with you, but for me to continue on this path, I need for us to be exclusive. I understand if that's not what you want, and I respect that, but that's a non negotiable for me. I'm cool with whatever you decide, I just want to know where you stand." Any man who isn't a tot…

If you know yourself, physically, in a sexual way, then you won't have any trouble translating that to your sex life with a man. Women who have longterm trouble with sex, in relationships, are women who can't get themselves off. These are usually women who are so self-conscious they can't make themselves orgasm or enjoy pleasure even when they're alone. This has nothing to do with the number of sexual partners someone has had. You don't have to go have sex with random men, that's crazy! Here's w…

I feel like you have two issues. You don't sound like someone with a drinking problem, although I encourage you to pass on drinks if you don't want them. I often point out physical size difference as reason I'm not having more. I find that a lot of the time gregarious guys are just trying to be fun loving when they buy rounds of shots, but if you point out your size they sorta snap out of it and realize that of course you can't drink as much as they can. Just do it in a jokey light way, people u…

Is this the hill you want to die on? You don't want to clean because he needs you to clean, you want to clean because, "It feels like he's taking away my way of taking care of him." Find other ways of taking care of him, keep your own stuff as tidy and clean as possible, and if you see him re-doing your work--just ask him! Maybe he's just very particular, maybe he likes to clean as a de-stress (my husband can get like that with deep cleaning stuff or re-organizing things), or maybe he's just in …

I think for us ladies the issue is rarely that we're not doing enough, and more often that we're trying to do too much or doing the wrong things. Keeping stuff clean, cooking, staying out of his workspace, not bugging him about long hours...all good! Being understanding when he needs some alone chill time...excellent! But really, anything beyond that is overstepping unless he asks. You don't want him to think that YOU think he can't do it. Of course, some of it is knowing your man also. Like, if…

No no no! You are worth being treated! This isn't settling a bar tab or splitting takeout with a roommate. Learn to accept gracefully, because men really appreciate it. In your head you're like, "he paid for dinner, so i should offer to split the next thing because that's considerate." In his head he'd be like, "i paid for one dinner and now she wants to split our next date. i guess she thinks i can't even afford one dinner out."

I think speaking well starts with listening well. People who are a bit brash or blunt almost always have poor listening skills. I can always tell when, while I'm talking to someone, they are just thinking of what they'll say next and not really listening. I recommend being more in the moment and really becoming a skilled listener. It's ok for there to be a slight silence in a conversation. The more you learn about reading body language the better too. Blunt people are able to continue being blun…

Are we married to the same man? We have the same setup! Two bedroom apartment and the office/spare room is his room. It's his space so just let it go. This is one of those times where both people can't get their own way, and as much as I get that it bugs you just think "is it worth being a nag?" ---nope. He's not drinking too much, overspending, flirting with other women, etc. He's just a bit messy, and only in his personal space. When DH's office started really spiraling out of control I just n…

I've been a sahw in the past. Personally, and this is just me, I was a bit bored. Even after cooking and cleaning and all the household stuff I felt like I had a lot of downtime, but not quite enough for a 40-hour a week job. We also have a small apartment not a big house with property so I could totally see that being part of why I got bored. If I had gardens and stuff it would be different. Anyway, now I work part-time from home, about 4 hours a day, and for me and DH that is perfect. The mone…

DH and I used to live and work together. It wasn't an issue because we were in different departments (i.e. neither of us was reporting to the other, but our teams worked together a lot) and we already had a very firm relationship in place at home. For us, working together was a bonus. However, I admit that we are unusual and that many couples do not enjoy a work relationship.

If you want a man who is genuinely masculine and dominant, you have to be genuinely feminine and submissive. Being feminine isn't just wearing skirts and heels and makeup, it's having a feminine demeanor. When you move through the world, how do your mannerisms seem? Would people describe you as elegant, composed, sultry, hospitable, and flirty...or would they say you are confident, aggressive, combative, outspoken, and competitive?

Have you ever gotten upset or angry or agitated about something you really love talking and thinking about? Me neither. You are asking two different questions. The first question is general and about how to become marriage material. The second question is how do you get your man to be receptive to marriage talk. First off, from what you've said, it sounds like you talk to his friends and family about what he says about marriage. How else would you know that he talks about this stuff to other peo…

First I'd say take a beat, allow yourself to be bummed about this and forgive yourself! You have to get over this first to be able to move on, and that's totally ok. There's no need to beat yourself up over a mistake you know you won't make again, so cut that out girl! The good news is that even though you've had a misstep, you're super young and totally willing to focus on self-improvement, and that's fantastic! I got out of a very up and down relationship (as a hardcore feminist/angry person) …

Absolutely, and it works in reverse too. For example, when I was dating I knew I wanted to marry a man who was a good earner and a hard worker. However, if I went on a date with a guy and his only passion in life was work, for me that was a dealbreaker. Some ladies can be super happy with a guy who loves to work constantly, travels a lot, etc. I know myself pretty well, and while I admire men who are career driven, for a spouse I wanted someone who also desired some work/life balance.

You make it clear by leaving. That is the answer. You keep talking about setting and figuring out your limit, but your problem is that you have no limit, and he knows that. He is manipulating you very effectively. He can treat you like garbage, then apologize and everything is fine. You are signaling to him that it is ok for him to do this, so he will keep doing it.

Really? What would you call abuse? If him shouting at you and deliberately calling you horrendous names isn't abuse, what is? He's verbally abusive. He won't stop when you plead with him to stop. He is unwilling to go to counseling. Those are the facts. If you stay it will not get better.

Men respect women with a life. My husband doesn't care that I'm not super career driven or 100% madly passionate about what I do for a living. I like it well enough, I'm just not a #girlboss type. What my husband DOES respect is that I have a life outside of him. If he has to work late I'm not pacing the house wringing my hands and waiting for him to get home. I have lots of hobbies, solid girlfriends, I'm super physically active, I read a lot, and because of all these things I have lots of new …

Losing weight is mostly done in the kitchen, so I wouldn't even worry about a workout routine at this point. Have you ever tried a whole 30? I also failed when calorie counting. I was hungry constantly and would lose and gain the same 5 lbs. over and over again. Turns out I don't need very many carbs/sugars. Now I eat a modified version that's way less strict, but to actually lose weight I just stuck to whole 30 rules. Might be worth a look.

I'll focus just on the weight part and not the relationship issues. What have you tried to lose weight in the past? Why haven't previous attempts worked? Why are you overweight? Do you just eat too much all around, or are you and emotional eater, or do you have a sweet tooth? It'll be easier to give advice if I know what you've tried (I'm a lifelong athlete).

This has a really easy answer, you're making it way too complicated! Take the risk and stop initiating all the time. Give him the chance to make the first move! I know you're worried that if you don't initiate you won't hear from him...but do you really want to be with a man who is just going along with hanging out with you and who doesn't even care enough to reach out first? The rest of your relationship seems fine, so odds are he's just used to you taking the lead on reaching out, but if you s…

I think it's good to keep in mind that this is also what works for you right now. At one month (really up to a year or so in my opinion) in you're really just dating and getting to know each other, even if you are exclusive. So, I think it's smart to play things close to the vest and not overextend with helping him (if not asked), etc. I also think this is an excellent opportunity for vetting. Maybe he was just misusing the word immoral? I agree that it's not a moral issue, but it is probably unrealistic to think you won't end up with someone who is divorced and/or has a child. It's just an age thing. In some ways I'd be a bit suspect of a 40 year old guy with no past marriage and no children, because to me that screams bachelor for life rather than, "things just didn't work out how I'd hoped". Also, I don't put too much stock in this type of unsolicited advice from people. If DH tell…

I Remember You (not the one you're thinking of) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w83thBtDkE I can't really think of anything. Sometimes he's kind of grouchy after work, which I think is a waste of time, but I just leave him alone until he comes out of his funk. I'm trying to get into meditating. Organizing our old pictures. I've been with my husband over a decade, and I cannot imagine being married to someone who I didn't fall in love with. I don't have days where I feel like I have to choose to love him, because my love for him runs so deep, but there are moments where I choose to react in a loving way even if I'm tired/stressed/whatever. I think it's easier to choose love in moments of stress when you already have a well of it, and I think it's very difficult to sustain a fantastic sex life and relationship over …

It sounds like this guy doesn't follow through on his word, plus he's a poor earner, and he's unrealistic about what needs to happen to attain goals. You say he's frugal, but you're in debt together and he spends large amounts of money against your wishes. He is not capable of being the captain of your finances and I'm not sure why you would trust him with that role before you've married AND before he's even entered a career. Being clingy or desperate is totally different from loyalty. Clinginess is generally unattractive on both sexes, and desperation often belies another issue like co-dependence or low self-esteem. Clinginess is needing something from another person to make yourself feel better, regardless of how much they're willing to give. Loyalty, on the other hand, is what you offer a worthy man who has already earned your trust (and IMO who you're in a LTR with at minimum). It's little stuff like listening to…

Sorry, I'm totally confused here. What's the issue with a Girl's Night Out? Is it the assumption that such a night would involve super heavy drinking and clubbing? I'd focus on learning how to receive graciously! Don't act like you've placed a huge hardship on him or constantly apologize, because that will make him feel like you think he's incapable/not able to handle it. Instead just treat him like your hero and take care of everything at home! Don't be angry when he's doing all he can, just show him with your actions how much you admire him doing this.

Agreed. She should leave now. I have a theory about the flawed thinking behind this post. I think some beta guys read TRP and internalize it to mean (I agree that this is NOT what TRP is saying, I just think it's a misunderstanding that's common): "Once I get older I'll have all the power to get stunning 20-somethings forever, and that will be more important than any character traits or what I bring to the table as long as I have a job. I think there is a baseline of standards (not entitlement, because I think that's a different thing) all women should have, like he doesn't cheat, abuse, steal, he is employed, etc. Beyond that, I think you can create additional standards, but if you date for years and no one meets them, your standards are too high for what you bring to the table. This is an interesting dynamic. What do you do to foster fun and excitement in the relationship? I'm not talking about sex, but just fun in general. What's your personal life outside of him? Do you have hobbies, friends and activities? It's hard to have lots of fun banter if you never have fun together. I think therapy is a good option in your case. You've tried your best to figure it out yourself and it's not working, so getting an outside perspective is a good idea. I'd just make sure your therapist isn't a new age "you deserve the moon and the stars and all men should kiss your feet for showing up at all" type.

DH love jerky and he's never had the good stuff, so I thought that would be a great gift. I also like to get him lots of candy :) because he has quite the sweet tooth. My basic equation is 1 really nice item i know he wants, 2 less expensive things i know he'll like, a wild card gift that i'm pretty sure he'll like, and junky candies and fun stuff.

I don't have a problem with DH opening up and showing his emotions, I think that's a human need everyone has (to varying degrees). I would guess that most women who can't handle any emotion from men are generally selfish and dominating (their feelings and thoughts matter but his don't). That said, I think there is a new breed of man that's sort of overly emotional, but it's not the emotions that are the problem but the overall vibe they send out. Absolutely. I think it's impossible to advise you on what to do, since you haven't addressed the core problem yet. I think you should wait on the relationship decisions until you address your real issues first. Once you do that, I think you'll know what you actually want in your relationship. When he comes home I like to have the house at least picked up, so there's not clutter (this is a big deal to him specifically, he actually has much higher "neatness" standards than I do), I pack his breakfast and lunch every day for work, I cook dinner every night, I light candles often but not every night. One big thing I do for DH is encourage him to do what he likes. I have known too many men who would rather work late than go home, which t…

Pliable just means flexible. I think you're confusing confidence with arrogance. An arrogant woman cannot be pliable, submissive, or easy going. She believes she is always more correct, smarter, better, faster, than anyone. Her way is the right way and her man is a moron. A confident woman believes he has inherent value in who she is. She knows she deserves to be treated a certain way because of what she brings to the table, but she can still be humble. She can still ask her husband for advice a…

Your problem isn't dating, it's all the underlying distrust of men. I have had the personal displeasure of going on a couple first dates with men who clearly had issues with women. Even though they weren't rude to me or physically intimidating/scary, I picked up on that vibe loud and clear. You will not get commitment from a high value partner if you're sending out this vibe. I think this forum is great because it gives women a strategy for operating in the world and especially in relationships …

Infatuation isn't really a problem if you're on the same page. I was infatuated with my husband when we started dating, and he was infatuated with me, which is pretty standard falling-in-love stuff! The issue here is you're with someone who isn't offering you what you want. Not sure if others will disagree, but I believe that if a man wants exclusivity with you, he will do everything in his power to make that happen. That's true even if you've never even kissed him! If a guy wants you and he's n…

We wear ours 24/7. As far as I can tell men don't notice rings on women, or they notice and don't care. I feel like I get the same amount of come-ons with or without them, but I think it would deeply bother DH if I didn't wear mine, and I feel the same way. I also like jewelry and my rings are my favorite pieces of jewelry, so it's not exactly a hardship, lol.

It doesn't matter what value you can bring to his life if he doesn't want the same life you want. You want a monogamous relationship with him. He wants to date around and sleep with you here and there. That's the end of the story. You really don't have to delve into and accept TRP, you just need to move on. Everyone is entitled to want whatever they want, but you two don't want the same thing and that's pretty much a dead end. Every minute you waste continuing to engage with this man (hanging ou…

My style is definitely evolving. I think it often ages people when they choose a style in their teens or twenties and then stick with it forever. I shop based on color, fit, and feel. First clothing has to pass my color test, not just that it's a color I like it actually has to be one of the colors that looks best with my skin (soft summer). If it doesn't pass the soft summer test I don't try it on. Then it has to make my body look good (which includes being the right size, without alterations n…

This is great! I think sometimes we get this idea in our heads that our "self" is some immovable thing that can't be changed and that if we're a certain way that's "just the way" we are. That's totally false! You can decide what kind of person you want to be! Congrats!

I'm not super career driven, I'm actually working now because a great opportunity came my way and it's a great chance for my family to really get ahead financially. Here's my (a little bit) older lady advice :) Do not go insanely into debt. It is 100% possible to earn a bachelor's degree without digging yourself into a hole. Yes, and it snowballs into their relationships. I think it's part of why so many SJW types, especially straight ones, have trouble finding fulfilling LTR. If as a woman you really believe men are the enemy, out to get you, and incapable of understand/respecting you...then that trickles into your relationships with men. You either go for a total beta guy who you can push around or you don't and there's constant conflict.

People are allowed to have preferences, it's not a personal attack. Some guys don't like really petite women, many guys don't want to date a woman who towers over them, lots of guys have a preference for a slender frame but larger bust/butt. Also, this thread is referencing the top 20% not the average man. If I asked you to describe a woman who in your opinion is in the top 20% in terms of attractiveness I can't then get angry when you don't describe an average woman.

Classic Good Looks, High IQ, High Earning Potential, Physical Fitness, Wit, Sex Skills, and the ability to handle himself in a variety of situations without missing a beat/becoming awkward (changing a tire, going to the opera, meeting with parents, dealing with a disaster, etc.). To me one of the biggest turnoffs when dating was a guy who just couldn't handle himself or adapt to new scenarios quickly. Like, if we're out, and it's nighttime, and the car breaks down, I don't want you to turn to me…

This. Taking to heart what a really angry guy who has likely been recently hurt by a woman says about AWALT is silly. Both sexes can be irrational, and most people are at their least rational when they're hurt and angry. The victimhood thing goes both ways too. SJW feminist types definitely claim victimhood as their own, but some men on T/MRP do too. Many move through that stage and continue to evolve, but some get stuck and really make themselves at home in that angry space.

Honestly I was just really unhappy. I was on a journey of self-improvement anyway, and that came with throwing out a lot of old things I once thought to be true. I think that made it easier, because I was changing a lot of things about myself. I don't think there's much you can do to logic someone out of being a perpetual victim. They basically just have to get sick of it and want to be happy more than they want to be angry.

I think this is part of it too. There was also so much more hands on housework to be done and a lower expectation level of interacting with kids (because work had to get done). My grandma talks about how all the moms would drop in on each other, do mending together, chat, help each other clean, and check in on the kids playing outside every couple of hours or so. Way different.

I think it's more a boring people thing than a SAHM thing. I've been a SAHW and a working wife and I never fell into this kind of trap, but I have also worked with women (full time employees) who were 100% like this. OP, this advice about noticing beauty in other women is GOLD. As women we're naturally judgmental about our own looks, but part of it is that we're also judging other women's looks. When you pass strangers and try to pick out one thing about them that's lovely you start to realize that no one sees the little stuff that you agonize over in front of the mirror. Don't cross that bridge until you come to it. Nothing you've done changes what your next steps should be on the path to self-improvement. If you're like many women here you'll never be asked about your sexual history, and if you are you just have to hope he's understanding. I think you're worrying about all this prematurely though. A decent mature man will honestly probably be more concerned about what it means to be with someone with managed bipolar than the number of people you've slept with.

If you're talking relationships then yes, but to be honest it's probably not something men have to worry about that much. Most women will automatically vet out men who don't reach their "match/compatibility" criteria anyway. Beauty trends definitely change over time, not just with weight but also with ideal skin tone, eye color, hair color, etc. In the USA in the 1960s the ideal look was pale, blonde, thin lipped, narrow hipped, and very thin. Now the ideal is medium skin, brown hair, full lipped, full hipped, and slim but with lots of boob/bum. I guess you could still argue that both ideals fall within generally healthy body weights, even if there are some extremes (heroine chic) that push the envelope.

Are you sure your friends aren't just worried about you? You have put yourself in a somewhat precarious situation where you're acting the part of a wife but you're not a wife. You have no legal protection whatsoever, which I'm sure is good for him, but could be really bad for you down the line. I guess it's just hard for me to understand why someone would not want to get married after nearly twenty years of being together, but perhaps that's just my own bias. This scenario would make me uncomfor…

I did not wait for marriage to have sex, but I absolutely respect people who want to do that. If you want to wait to have sex in marriage that's totally fine, what isn't great is your view that your virginity is your single biggest asset. Sure, virginity is important to some men and perhaps enticing to all men, but it's not everything. I think you need to work on your confidence, because in a way you're saying the best thing about you is having not done something. I'm sure you bring much more to…

I never paid on dates, though I always politely offered to split the bill on the first date I never had a guy take me up on it. Like I said in another thread, when I invited my guy (now my husband) on a simple going to the park and eating sandwiches date (after other dates he initiated) I offered to pay for both of us, he declined and paid for both of us. I think it's nice to offer, because it shows you're not entitled, but to be honest I think most men (or at least the kind I dated when I was s…

I think the key for you is to not age yourself with your clothing. You're 18 so your feminine style shouldn't be the same as mine (and vice versa)! You don't have to be super dressed up to look really femme. The other hair advice here is good so I'll give you some fashion-y recommendations that are girly but not so formal you'll look odd among your social group: http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=dress_casual&ProductID=2000226535&VariantID= http://www.forever21.com/Pro…

Was there any chase happening? It sounds like you went from casual date to treating him like a Captain (on demand sex, gifts, not bringing up your relationship goals, etc.) super quickly. I feel like most men, regardless of what they say, don't like when it feels too easy. They want to feel like there's a bit of a chase at the beginning. Once you're in wife mode you have to be 100% loyal and there for him no matter what, but before that point it's totally ok to be a bit cool, to have a bit of yo…

Exactly! I had gone on dates with 4 different guys in the last month when I met my now husband. The second we met I just knew. We started hanging out more and more and I broke it off with the others and explained that I wasn't up for dating anymore. It's interesting because a lot of young people are totally ok with sleeping around but they don't date around. Casual dating is the best way to meet lots of different types of guys, it really showed me what I wanted and what I definitely didn't want.

I think the best way to rectify this situation is for you to plan a date and pay for both of you. When he offers his 50% of the bill, you can just tell him, "don't worry about it, i planned this date, but you can get the next one!" If he's insistent that this arrangement is not something he's ok with...then I think you know he's a guy who wants to account for everything 50/50. If he kind of smiles and says ok, and then later asks you out and covers that date for the two of you...then you get wha…

This might be unpopular on RPW, but my vote is yes. When I was single I regarded myself as a free agent. This doesn't mean I slept with a bunch of guys (or led on guys who I wasn't interested in), but it does mean I went on dates and befriended a lot of guys. Doing this allowed me to not only vet lots of men quickly but also made me comfortable around guys AND gave me insight into the type of guys who are just players.

Every woman has a different sort of feminine power. It sounds like you might be equating feminine power with being a super sultry woman who knows exactly what to say to a man, and while that's definitely a type, it's not the only type. Some women are quick witted and endlessly entertaining, some are quiet but fantastic listeners and good at making a man feel important, some are adventurous and full of energy, and some are reserved and elegant. This woman is a gold star moron. Modern Western feminist women are so terribly weak. They have zero sense of personality responsibility. They want everyone to take care of them, but only in the specific way they want, and they don't want to be reminded that they're getting help. Basically they want to be treated like children "Wow! Good job! You did it! You tied your shoes! What a big strong girl are! You can do anything!!!" But also no one can expect anything of them. It's so gross.

Agreed. I would also argue that women-only environments can lead to much worse social behavior/treatment among women. Even workplaces I've been in as an adult that were nearly all female were horrendously catty and divisive compared to more evenly gender-split offices. Predominantly male environments are also typically problematic and can lead to increased rates of violence, drug/alcohol abuse, aggressive bullying, and a host of other things. The problem with this kind of thinking is that it reduces complex people into a set of traits. I've though a lot about this subject too. I didn't read 50 Shades (so poorly written), but I know the plot and plenty of ladies I know are obsessed. I don't think she's at all likable. She's very aggressive and domineering. She speaks in a constantly condescending and all-knowing tone and her facial expressions/physical expressions are equally condescending/argumentative. I think someone like Dr. Laura is a better example. She's a professional who earned a doctorate, published multiple books, and has been married since the mid-80s. She's a trusted authority in her field, but she doesn't seem instantly defensive.
/r/RedPillWomen09/02/17 05:45 AM

This is specifically why I don't "hate" feminists the way many people do. I can't hate someone who I have compassion for, and I can't be anything but empathetic towards people who are actively thwarting their own futures based on everything they've been taught (from parents to teachers to bosses to friends). I feel awful for them, because they're not happy and most of them never will be, and the worst part is they're just doing what their entire world tells them to do. It's sad.

The best thing we can do is lead by example, do what makes us happy, and then spread that happiness. Yes! I also don't get why the whole feminist branch decided that work=real goals and love=silly goals. Aw, you're too kind. I definitely don't have it all figured out, lol, but my skincare routine is pretty on point. I don't have the issue with smile lines or eye lines, it sounds like we might just have different skin types. I have heard that retinol is good for preventing lines, but it can also dry your skin and make you more likely to get sunburns. I don't think that's true. Most single and never married women would prefer a male partner who is also single and never married. Having a divorce on your record, possibly shared custody of children, and one or a string of failed LTR (or years and years of just sleeping around like crazy) absolutely diminishes a man's RMV in the eyes of other women. Basically, a guy with baggage or loss of confidence will read as a guy with baggage to all women, not just to his wife/partner. Age affects RMV in me…

Totally true on the shortie front. I'm a total of 5'2" with my hair done up BIG, lol. I'm probably closer to 5'1" in reality. The only real disadvantage of being a short woman is that even minimal weight gain looks huge on your frame. If you're petite you really have to watch your weight. If I gain 15 pounds I suddenly go from looking like a lanky ballerina to looking stocky. There is no "sexy and voluptuous" if you're short. Taller women have a bit more leeway with weight because they can carry…

More than the avatar thing I've seen the overly flattering selfie thing IRL. I belong to a professional marketing group that has meetings from time to time. For a while I couldn't make any of the meetings in person but was still friends with many of the women via social media. They are mostly SJW feminist types. Focus your attention inward. I assume that any RPW reaching her last prime years already takes care of herself physically, presents herself in a feminine way, and stays as fit and attractive as she can with the genetics she was given. What many people ignore (male and female) is the internal life. My husband was undoubtedly attracted to me because of my looks. It was my appearance that drew him in and made him want to get to know me, be around me, and romance me. I was also initially attracted t…

I think this is true in relationships that are under a certain period of time, like maybe 3 years or fewer. If you're just in the "dating" phase I think this could be especially true, but with longer term relationships I think lack of sex is usually a symptom of a broader issue rather than the issue itself. So maybe he'll complain about lack of sex, but she's not in the mood because he turns her down a lot, and he turns her down a lot because he's not attracted/doesn't feel respected/some other …

I think you need some independence and life experience. I also think you need to form your own world view outside of your mom who sounds frankly a bit mean and a bit sheltered. Dancer here. Most dance classes are primarily female. In a ballroom type class (like tango) I'd guess that even in a diverse metropolitan area you'll have a ratio of about 8 women to 1 man, and the majority of men will not be playing for your team. The only exception may be if you are in a Latina/Latino dominated city where dancing is the norm for most adults. By all means tango your heart away, but it's probably not the best place to meet eligible men. I'd focus on meetups and groups that are g…

I think a lot of this gets easier the longer you're with someone. When my husband and I were first together many of his delegations made me nervous, because I didn't have a lot of experience and I didn't want to screw up. What I learned is that if I deliver on the time agreed upon and do my best, he's good. He gets that everything isn't 100% perfect all the time. Well said. The Wall is an important concept because it's counter to what popular culture/aka feminism tells women, which is basically that you're equally hot at 50 as at 20, equally hot at 110 lbs. as 300 lbs., and equally hot in sweatpants and a t-shirt as in a cocktail dress. That's all BS, obviously. I think The Wall is basically a corrective theory to remind women that, yes looks matter, yes age affects your looks, and no it doesn't matter if you think that's fair or not. Capitalizing on you…

I'm a big believer in trial and error for your specific skin type. I strongly recommend that women in their early 20s pursue finding their skin care regimen in a way that's semi-scientific. I think doing it in your teens can be tough due to crazy hormones and puberty stuff that's still going on. Try new methods and products, keep track of them, never try more than one new product at a time, take notes on your results, and adjust. I know it sounds absurd, but I'm almost 32 and have no fine lines …

When I see those videos it's almost always teens/early 20s overweight people. You know why? Because by the time they get older their knees and ankles can't take it anymore. They start to throw out their backs all the time and have all sorts of complications. To an extent being slim is utilitarian in dance, it's easier to jump and be lifted and balance on your toes if you weigh less. Physics...it's a thing.

You're so welcome. It took me years to realize this. Whenever I am stressed or discontent I start to journal. I'm not going to argue with you on your appearance (or hitting the wall at 23) because I know it's all set in your head. Let's say you are actually extremely unattractive and hitting the wall. Even if that's true, I think you're using that as a massive excuse. RPW is about making yourself the best version of yourself. How in touch are you with the physical in general? Are you coordinated and aware of your body? I'm thinking that maybe more comfort and appreciation for the physical might help with this. Fitness or dance/yoga classes that don't focus on using weights/machines but just focus on body placement may be helpful for you. I've always been very comfortable physically with myself and with touch-based affection, and I think a lot of it comes from being a dancer and acrobat.

Harsh, but also funny and true. I'm in a major area for HAES and fat acceptance. I don't get it. I would understand something like disability acceptance, to increase visibility and respect for people with disabilities, because, you know, they can't change that and they're actually discriminated against. I think going to bars with friends in your college years is a bit different from bar hopping well into your 20s and beyond to try and find a Captain. Is there any way you can get out of managing your SO at work? It's extremely difficult to have the woman in charge of the man at work and then shift to having the man be the captain at home. To be fair, I also think it's tough for the man to be the boss of the woman at work. It's simply better to either be co-workers or not have mixed professional lives at all. One thing kept coming to mind while reading this, maybe I'm way off base, but are your older siblings single? I'm not sure that you should be suspicious, but if you're not attracted to him at all there's not much of a point in maintaining the "friendship" (unless he's gay and truly just wants female friendship, could that be the case?). I've seen both cases to be honest. I think most people who are like this have parents who are like this. It's almost something you can't teach unless you grow up with it. It doesn't surprise me that these girls had rough backgrounds, one reason I was so adept at manipulating and lying was because I basically had to do that on a daily basis at home (to avoid repercussions/minimize incidents).

IMO that late-20s age group tends to be more marriage minded than early 20s guys. I'd be a bit cautious about dating into the 30s as single men in that age group may want you specifically because you ARE young, as a way to relive their youth, and because men who remain single well into their 30s are often still…

Even if the numbers have leveled off it's still true that most people in this demo say they want marriage. So they're either lying, planning on marrying later, or just delusional about what they actually want vs. what they should want.

Handling this situation gracefully will only re-prove to your man how much better you are. Approach it from that standpoint rather than what she thinks about you. She's never going to like you anyway, so that should take the pressure off trying to make a genuine connection. Keep it simple, be kind, smile warmly, ask a question or two about her and her new boyfriend "where did you two meet?" and then just move along. If she gets crazy all it will do is validate your boyfriend's decision to leave …

I don't disagree with your points at all. Just wondering, why do you think there's a gap between what young people are doing and what they are saying they want? http://www.gallup.com/poll/191462/gallup-analysis-millennials-marriage-family.aspx While marriage is at an all time low for millennials, with just 27% being married, the analysis also says, "a 2013 Gallup poll found that 86% of single/never married Americans aged 18 to 34 (roughly equivalent to the millennial generation) wanted to get ma…

Look at it another way. He's been with other girls, and he STILL chose to be in an exclusive relationship with YOU. He's not in a relationship with them, is he? He's not taking them on dates and having long talks and doing romantic things for them. You beat out the competition, so clearly he thinks you're a catch. I agree though that if you don't want to hear about his exes you can just say so. He's being slightly insensitive and probably has no idea it bothers you. Just tell him, if he cares fo…

I agree. What keeps me from wanting to cheat or trade in my husband is the earnest belief that he is the best man in the world for me. Getting back to that level of respect and admiration would totally counteract any negative side effects of hypergamy in women.

Great post! I actually just watched this happen with a married female friend of mine. She got closer and closer to this guy at work, I kindly warned her that straight men and women in committed relationships shouldn't be BFFs. She threw back a load of BS about how gender is a construct and he respects her relationship and blah blah blah. Long story short, she cheated on her husband with him for like two months, annnnd that's when we pretty much stopped being friends.

I agree completely. I think the best takeaway of the whole wall concept is the idea that when you're young you have the most choices in partners because more people your age are single, you don't have much baggage, you have easy access to a full social life (school, clubs, etc.), AND you're not competing with younger women for the attention of men. The deck is stacked heavily in your favor when you're dating as a young woman, so you should optimize that time to find the best potential relationsh…

So many factors contribute to aging. Women of certain ethnicities age better than others, some women have better genes, and I do think super attractive women may notice the wall less. I've written before about how the whole wall thing is overblown. I do think there's something to what you're saying about attractive women not hitting the wall as severely. Here's my guess on why that might be the case, from my own observations/experiences: Woman number one is 19 years old, reasonably fit but not a…

I agree with you to an extent, but I also think there's a culture (especially in major cities) of men bragging about not knowing how to fix anything, build anything, or lift anything. It's like a point of pride to not be a "typical guy". I think both men and women have changed. Men are now taught that they should want a high powered executive lady as a wife, and they believe that's what they want, but in their minds they still also want a loving nurturing woman who will put the family first. Pump the breaks! You're 23 and single, not 40 and single. Three big things stand out to me in what you've written, and it could be that a combination of these factors is keeping eligible men away: You have little to no experience being friends with men other than that one guy. Do you know how hard it is to go fishing if you've never seen fish, or water, or a boat, or a fishing rod? I know RPW teaches that men and women can't be friends, and I agree to an extent. Maybe you would feel more feminine inside if you acknowledged all the ways in which you are naturally feminine. You're quick to list the ways that you're more masculine, but not the ways you're more feminine. Femininity isn't a single disposition or list of traits, there are lots of types of feminine women! You've adopted RP ideals because you care deeply about making your relationship wonderful, that's feminine thinking. You say you do genuinely desire being feminine and that you do love beauti…

I have a sales and marketing background, so for a lot of my career I made money from my ability to confidently relate to people who I knew nothing about. You don't have to be the life of the party to engage people and showcase your kindness and interest, and if you're introverted this behavior will come off as insincere anyway. Asking questions is a fantastic way to put the conversational heavy lifting on another person, while making them feel important. This only works if when they ask you ques…

This is such valuable advice. Everyone has some activity that just makes their heart sing. Prioritizing that activity is not selfish, quite the opposite. Yes! It is absolutely worthwhile to dress/do makeup/hair as well as you can for who you are today. The biggest problem with being overweight is resigning yourself to it or convincing yourself that being overweight is outside your sphere of control/normal. I can't speak to the official RPW stance, but I can tell you my personal makeup approach. I have three different makeup looks: Natural/Invisible. This is my most common makeup style. I agree, it's so pointless. It's also totally overblown here versus IRL. As for increasing SMV 30+, as long as you take care of your skin and stay fit things don't change that much, aging is gradual. I've said it before but I'll say it again, I have not noticed any drop off in male attention from age 20 to now (31, almost 32). In my experience men react very differently when they're ranking women in a hypothetical way (online, models, talking about famous people) than they do in real life. The m…

You know your SMV based on how men react to you and treat you. Do you get asked out a lot by super attractive guys? Do high value men quickly want exclusive relationships with you? When a guy plans a date with you does he phone it in or go all out? Do you get special treatment from men when you're out and about? If the answer to all of these is yes then you have a high SMV. You don't need to worry about being the perfect partner for him, because he doesn't want a LTR. You're basically giving him the perks of having a LTR or even wife with zero commitment. No offense intended, but this is a terrible strategy. I'm older than you and basically have what you want. I also didn't want kids, and to be honest, I did not find that to be a major obstacle at all. In fact, in my dating days I only encountered ONE guy who said having kids was a deal breaker, most guys were luke…

Yes. I dated two of them. One I dated for a very short period of time as I quickly discovered he already had a girlfriend who was out of town. The other I dated for about a year while in college, but it just didn't work out (not because he was a jerk or anything, we just weren't a great match, we parted on good terms). I ended up marrying a guy who is super fit, very handsome, and a high earner in a STEM job, but he's not a team sports/watching sports/fraternity kind of person. He's more into pu…

As long as our home is comfortable and functional my husband pretty much lets me do whatever I want. We have a big comfy couch that he absolutely loves and plenty of throw pillows and soft blankets (which he mocked at first and now uses constantly, lol). He buys me flowers a lot so I always put those out and I love candles so I have lots of those as well. The art on the wall is pretty 50/50 between stuff I've selected and stuff he's selected, we purchase art together as well and some is my own o…

I think you should just act the way you always do. Overcompensation might read as distress to him. Just be normal, adore him, be interested in him, and don't give him any sense that you're concerned or distressed. If he complains about his work, reassure him that you're with him all the way and that you know he'll figure it out because he's smart, capable, and a super hard worker.

Sleep is huge. I also highly recommend (since we're the same age) using 100% pure argan oil as a moisturizer, doing a honey mask at least twice a week (literally mix the highest quality honey you can get with a tiny bit of water, spread on face, and remove after 15 minutes), and exfoliate twice a week (I use pure brown sugar mixed with olive oil).

No I don't agree. I agree if he's like that in person, but some men just aren't subtle. They may not know another way to convey attraction or interest via the Internet other than saying "You're gorgeous, you're beautiful, you're sexy, etc." For full disclosure, I never did online dating, but I do know men.

Thanks, it's something I've been thinking about a lot! I also agree with PP that these things really don't come up that often. I think women who want a Captain/First Mate relationship are typically very choosy about finding a husband and end up selecting someone who they're very compatible with. You know, as opposed to the whole opposites attract thing.

Are you sure you actually look haggard? It could just be the shock of seeing such a slimmer face, I mean, my face is not as full and round as someone who is 60 pounds overweight, and if it were it would look bizarre. In my relationship submission and delegation (Captain/First Mate type of deal) go hand in hand. Some real life examples of both delegation and submission: DELEGATION OF TASKS My Relationship: We choose a vacation destination and time of year to travel. Hm, I don't know if others will disagree, but I think you're being incredibly harsh. Online interactions are no substitute for IRL dates. It's hard to sense chemistry online, some guys have incredibly sexy voices, sexy ways of moving and interacting with the world, or super obnoxious ways of moving through the world, etc. But, when those guys are online they can't use a quick touch of the arm, a smile, or anything else to convey how they feel, they have to use language (which for many men is not…

I'm glad it helped, let me know how your meal planning and cooking goes! As far as entertaining, it really depends on the type of event you're hosting. Organizing a casual buffet style party for 60 is completely different from hosting a formal sit down dinner for 12. If you want to get really fantastic at hosting I recommend starting with a casual yet elegant dinner for about 6-8 people, and make the invitees friends you feel comfortable with, so there's no big added pressure. Believing you are hopeless, that other girls have the instant advantage, that no matter how much you improve your appearance it won't matter, that no one can overcome a dysfunctional home...THAT is your actual problem. I jokingly call myself an "international feminist", by which I mean I believe there are many countries that do desperately need a dose of feminism. I think men and women should have equal rights in the eyes of the law and equal protections within their communities (yes, I am aware that that's never 100% the case). I think if women want to identify as feminists they should focus their attention on women living in countries where they are literally treated as property and have very few rights. I k…

Absolutely you could, and that man doesn't have to be damn awesome...all he has to be is sexually attractive to you, personally. Well, at least in theory. In my many years of having plenty of different lady friends I've found there are 3 different camps when it comes to casual sex and women (i.e. sex with a guy you don't know that well/haven't known very long) : There's the camp that equates sex and emotions, always. I agree with Willow-Girl and SouthernAthena. I'm sure some women are prone to form a strong emotional bond with any sexual partner, but that certainly hasn't been my personal experience. It's possible that I'm an outlier, but I never found sex and emotional connection to be inextricably linked. I also don't think having sex diminishes a woman's power or necessarily switches the power dynamic. Men want sex, true, but they don't want it just once. I would be direct yet polite. When the person in question says something passive-aggressive, say "I know you're joking, but you keep bringing up X when we're around each other, it kind of makes me think you're still upset with me, are you?" Most often people will just backpedal like mad. Honesty is the best way to diffuse passive aggression.

Trust what a man does, not what he says. He honestly doesn't sound like he was that into you. He's overwhelmed by his own situation and he's using it as a reason to get out of this relationship now. There's only one reason I never dated anyone who I didn't want to marry: it potentially leads to missing out on other better partners. You don't want to be in a relationship when you actually meet Mr. Right, and your odds of meeting him at all are much higher if you're single.

In my opinion, you're trying to be something that you aren't yet. It's his house, it's his lawn, that means it's his decision. You spend so much time with him that you feel pride in how the house/lawn looks...but you shouldn't, you don't live there, you're not a member of that household. While I admit that once a week is not ideal, it's quite different from having regular 10 day dry spells. Edited to add: How often do you give blowjobs? Who initiates sex? Do you feel he is not physically attracted to you? When you very first got together did you have lots of sex or was it still rare?

ah, ok. i'm a bit confused about the bit where you say you don't want to tie actions/dressing as a RPW way to do things. isn't that a lot of what this sub is about? if RPW is about sexual strategy then i think semantically it makes sense (just for clarity) to reference what an RPW stance versus bluepill or other stance might be. i feel like i frequently see people write about the "RPW" way of doing things here, but maybe i am totally missing something?

Sorry, I feel like I wasn't very clear. I wasn't trying to say that dressing sexy is bad, quite the opposite. I'm a pretty sexy dresser myself. I was trying to illustrate (poorly I guess, lol) that just as you might show cleavage without having sex with someone, you can also show your RMV skills without submitting 100% prior to a LTR. I also wasn't trying to say that all RPW don't have sex with men quickly, but I thought it was generally believed that usually that's not an ideal route to take.

I'll speak to the bonus question part. I do NOT think women should submit before they have a serious LTR or marriage. You can still do things for a guy, like cook dinner, showcase your homemaking skills by keeping a clean home, be sweet, not nag, let him take the lead on calling/planning dates, be supportive, give him some cookies, etc. But, I've seen way too many women treat recent boyfriends or even guys they're just dating like husbands. I think part of the reason for this is also because now people live above their means and have way more access to (and insight into) the trappings of wealth. If you always have to initiate I feel that's a sign that either A. he isn't that interested. B. he isn't a very proactive man. Neither option is good in my opinion. Lots of guys spinning plates take this approach, they'll respond but not initiate. This is also something I've seen guys do when they want to let a girl down easily. And of course, it's a fairly common move among guys who are just completely not go-getters. I strongly disagree that it's a fear that he'll be labeled a rapist, in a way…

Today I'm going into Christmas overdrive! I'm baking about 12 dozen cookies and sending out all of our cards! Last year, on a whim, I made cookies for my husband to take to the office and all of his co-workers freaked out, like "your wife BAKES?" haha, he said two different single guys in the office came up to him later and asked where we met and expressed that they wanted a wife too! It made me feel so good and I could tell it made my husband feel super proud. He asked me to make cookies again …

Bonjour! I'm newish to having an account and posting but I'm a longtime lurker. Most of RPW theory fits my relationship/personality and reflects what I believe to be true. I've been married for 5 years and was with my husband for 5 years before that (exclusive LTR). I like the vibe here because people are direct but it's all in the spirit of improving each other, that's pretty cool. Also, like many of you, I can't really talk relationship dynamics with my IRL lady friends because they'd probably…

I definitely see your point! I think I did focus mostly on basic stuff without considering more advanced techniques. I guess in my head I was imagining a non-RPW who is already married and then finds RPW? Haha, I have no idea why that's the only scenario I pictured. I'm psyched too, definitely want to keep discussing!

Yep. This is where the twist in the storyline is and you find out this whole thing is like that awful movie The Lake House except they're both you and it's on the interwbz, hahaha.

Oh I agree it doesn't really need to be 12 steps, I just thought it would be kind of an interesting experiment to try to match it up. I also think this would be way shorter for a single woman looking for an LTR because leaving is such a more readily available option. I also agree that this wouldn't increase tension in the way male dread might, but I don't think that's the goal for most women who are in relationships that are struggling. I think if the guy is already withdrawn adding more tension…

I so agree with this article. It's funny that you posted it now because just this week my dysfunctional mother called to rant about some lies my father told her. It sounds uncaring but I honestly wasn't surprised at all. I lied to her constantly growing up because the cost of telling the truth was so high. She freaks out at everything, rants and raves, and tries to control everything...then acts shocked that her husband lies. If you want people to tell you the truth you have to be the type of pe…

Haha, it's kind of funny too because it's often really young single guys telling us ladies who are already married that n-count/some other criteria is so vital you basically can't find a quality guy if you're over some set number/they only want to hook up with you. If my husband is just in it to hook up with me he's really invested a lot into this 10 year con.
/r/RedPillWomen16/12/16 05:22 PM

Yeah I've absolutely never understood the travel thing. I've always wondered if that was somewhat class based, like maybe people who are lower or lower middle class and have very little travel experience think travel = random sex? If you're upper middle class or above the odds of anyone over the age of 18 having never been away from home without a parent is virtually nonexistent.

Well said. I think the cardiologist analogy is perfect because it also deals with high stress, gore, and life and death. At the end of the day you can do the job or you can't. If women are good enough, and I'm certain some are, then they should be able to meet the previously set standards. If you can't meet the standards...YOU CAN'T MEET THE STANDARDS.

Maybe extremely rude wasn't the right word choice. I guess it would just be considered invasive and maybe reflect negatively on the asker, like it might lead the person being asked to think the asker was insecure or judgmental. Invasive is a better descriptor.

This is one of those rare areas where I don't see TRP theory in my actual life. I admit that it may be about region and culture, I'm not saying n-count isn't important across the board. I can see how if you live in a small town especially everyone would know everyone's business, and you don't want to constantly run into people you've slept with. Being empathetic has nothing to do with giving advice. True empathy is understanding someone else's feelings and needs and experiences. Have you heard that the golden rule is "treat others as you want to be treated" but that the platinum rule is "treat others as they want to be treated"? Repeat the platinum rule to yourself when you feel the need to give unsolicited advice. True empathy should allow you to see that when your man is frustrated what he needs is someone who gets him, someone who no…

Talking about the future doesn't mean much if the present isn't even established yet. If it's too early to even bring up being exclusive then it's probably too early for sex if you're actually interested in a LTR. If you're cool with a FWB scenario then you may as well go for it.

Yes to this! I think being able to joke about it makes it more of a fun thing than anything that invokes jealousy. Some of that probably comes with years of being together and feeling secure, but I'm amazed by other couples who get in a snit if their SO thinks another person is attractive. Like, if your LTR is that fragile there's another problem brewing.

For one thing you stop dating fixer upper type guys. Date men who you like "as is", not who you might like if they address a laundry list of items. I don't think a man sharing his feelings is a turn on, but I do think it's necessary for a successful LTR. It's kind of like how men aren't "attracted" to intelligence in women, but still usually end up with someone close to their IQ. Logistically there are going to be problems in a relationship where the man has an IQ of 150 and the woman has an IQ of 90. It's simply unlikely to work. By the same token some level of expressing feelings is necessary for most women. Being with a man who is so sto…

I think that as a new product it will be niche. There are already highly realistic sex dolls, and they are not only expensive and niche, but also seen as generally socially unacceptable. I think before there are typical at-home sex bots there will be virtual brothels where people can rent their time with a sex bot. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future (I'm talking 30-50 years from now) most people have their "first time" with a sex-bot. However, I don't see that as being as far off from porn…

I'll add a comment to include the two questions in the edit. I am certain there are (straight) outliers for whom traditional gender roles don't apply. I have no doubt that there are happily married couples where the wife is the breadwinner and decision maker and the husband stays home and acts as a support system. However, I also believe there are patterns in human behavior, and I don't think most couples who follow this mold are happy in the longterm. I think most (straight) women want a certai…

Politically I'm pretty far left (plus athiest). This forum isn't directly about politics; it's about real world relationship dynamics. Right now the concept that (straight) relationships can actually be improved by understanding inherent gender differences causes a knee-jerk negative reaction in a lot of liberals. So, it makes sense that many people who are open to this concept have a conservative outlook. I personally don't have any trouble being pro-choice, supporting gay and trans rights, and…

I may be wrong but what you describe sounds to me like a FWB scenario, or as TRP might say "being plated". Yikes, I don't mean to disparage but my experience with trust fund guys has not been positive. When people have unlimited money (that they didn't earn) it can have very negative effects. In my opinion an alpha man would probably not even touch his trust (except to invest it), content to make it on his own instead. To be honest, the women I know with trust funds aren't any better off. I was dealt a pretty rough hand at a very young age, so I sort of had to come to terms with the fact that life was unfair. I think in a way that's made life much easier for me than most people. I guess I'd suggest not focusing so much on how unfair life is and focusing more on how insanely lucky you are. If you're alive now, and you're in a developed country, you are wealthier and safer than most people who have lived throughout history. You have more options than most people throughout history.…

I would encourage her to find paid work that she can do from home. This not only offers her the chance to get out of the workplace and be home all day (to make sure she likes it!) before finding a man, it gives her more options as a homemaker in the future. Giving to others is always a good way to build gratitude for your life! If you make yourself into the best version of your self you have nothing to fear. You think he should just get past the fact that he'll be judged by your family and that he's nervous about being alone with the kids. He thinks you should just adapt and visit a different time. To me, this is an ideal opportunity to submit. This is the type of argument that blue pill couples spend hours dissecting and talking about and measuring. This is the yielding aspect of being RPW! Agreed. Women like your sister find the idea that gender exists to be really threatening to their own identities. Also, I find that often women like that (she sounds like a friend of mine) often marry men who they wouldn't have married if they were looking for a Captain. This thing with kids is so true. My parents were very anti gender rules. I wasn't allowed dolls and my brothers weren't allowed guns. Totally agree. Anytime I hear married/partnered women (or men) talk about how love isn't ideal, how marriage is "hard work", how there's no such thing as fairy tales, how all passion fades and that's not how "real life" is...it just makes me sad. All that stuff about how when you leave the honeymoon period everything changes, it just sounds like a bunch of people defending their terrible partnering decisions.

I think I know what you mean. In response to the deadbedrooms example, I think that men are able to feel their sexual desire despite other stimuli. Like, a guy can have a high conflict relationship with his wife, and still want sex. Whereas once a woman stops respecting a guy, no matter how physically hot he is or how great he is in bed, she just won't be in the mood.

This, absolutely. I'd like to thank you for being a regular male poster who consistently posts useful responses. OP, "commitment" is not a solid object that is identical the world over. Lately I've been keeping a household planner and that has really helped! Since you said you don't like organizing I figured I'd share my method :) maybe it will help! I started organizing by making a master list of every single task that needs tending to (frequent and infrequent/seasonal), from cooking dinner to dusting to sending Christmas cards. This list will be huge, don't freak out. It might take you a few days to add everything to your list. Once your master list is done make categories, I…

Agreed. If this is a continuing thing, OP, you need to move on. This is a massive character defect IF this is how he typically handles conflict. I understand that this may just be a one off. In general, he should we jumping in to take care of problems as they arise, and taking initiative without prompting. Sulking is not Captain behavior. I think RPW can be confusing in situations like yours, because basically you're going to any length possible to improve yourself in this situation. That's a go…

I think there are a few different factors here. I met my husband fairly young, so naturally it was way before his peak financial years. To be honest, he still hasn't peaked in his career. His lack of immediate financial success when we met never mattered to me, because I knew everything would work out fine. Here's why I wasn't at all concerned: He had a plan. He wasn't at the finish line yet, but he also wasn't just flailing around. A guy with zero motivation is very different than a guy who isn…

I used to ask for confirmation that things were ok. I told him I knew it was silly, but I also had flashbacks and nightmares for a while, so sometimes I was a bit disoriented and I'd just sort of repeatedly ask, "everything is still ok, right?" He was ridiculously patient with me, but the majority of the work had to be done on myself internally. All the support in the world won't make those inside scars heal, you have to really dig into how this stuff works and then practice re-wiring your brain…

You have a few issues at play here. The first is that you feel "ugly" despite being fit and having a job and your own place. You need to work on your self esteem. I'm not saying you're a supermodel, but maybe you have great hair, a nice body, a cute face, great legs, etc. Figure out your strengths and highlight them! I'm not going to say you're actually a perfect 10, maybe you're a solid 4...well, that's ok! There are plenty of great supportive guys who would love a solid 4! The key here is that…

I have experience with something similar. What you're describing sounds to me like a PTSD response. The best course of action is to treat it just like any other malady. When you learn more about PTSD and how it manifests it becomes much easier to control the response. One thing I found helpful was having a phrase to say to myself. My phrase was, "this situation feels the same as my past trauma, but it's not the same. this is not the same situation. i am safe now." These things take time, just li…

So, you're having mind blowing sex with a guy who used to be spinning plates and who now only wants to be with you? To me, his words and actions seem indicative of a man who is highly taken with you and wants you to feel comfortable and confident. Plus, you've only been together a few months. This behavior is not a bad thing at this point. Now, if he's a complete pushover, get's lazy and soft, starts looking to you to make every decision, etc, begging for your approval, exhibiting feelings of je…

I think marrying before age 24 is a bad idea, but keep in mind you will want to date a few years before getting hitched. I think you're in the best spot to meet a potential Captain when you're 20-25, which would generally have you getting married in your mid to late 20s. That's not only statistically ideal in terms of divorce rates, but also holds up anecdotally among myself and my friends. Nearly all of the women I know met their eventual partner in their early or mid twenties. I know one who m…

I went through this exact experience during our first Christmas in our own household! I bought a high quality reusable tree, a wreath for the front door, stockings and lovely stocking hooks, a few yards of pretty reusable garland (so cheap), and some candles for each window. It prettied up our home without breaking the bank, and it left us with plenty of room for acquiring ornaments and decorations. IMO after you're officially coupled you'll get bombarded with holiday decor from family and frien…

Totally agree with this! I am also the head chef, household manager, shopper, cleaner, and definitely the head organizer! My husband would rather work on the weekend than have to comparison shop for sofas or plan the itinerary for our next vacation. If I had to sit and do spreadsheets tracking our financial progress and then get the hair out of the drain and clean up the yard, I'd probably cry...but I'll whi…

I don't think it's harsh because these are just general types and not actual human beings. The descriptions of these types on male blogs are pretty raw as well. Besides, no man is all one thing 100%, people are far more nuanced than that. I think types are helpful for recognizing patterns, but obviously they're pretty sweeping.

I don't have any resources, and obviously I'm not the best person to ask about male strategy. In terms of sweeping archetypes, I guess I think of the female equivalent of a Sigma to be the best fit. So, not the head cheerleader who throws parties every weekend, but the ballet dancer who sticks with a small group of friends. Not the girl who joins a sorority, but maybe the girl who works on the school newspaper. She doesn't buy every single trend just because her friends are, but she's also not s…

I think it's almost impossible to analyze this because people are so unreliable at both self-assessment and judging the looks of their partner (who they presumably love/are highly attracted to). There's a different forum filled with ladies that had a thread a few months back, and the idea was to post a picture of your husband alongside the celebrity he most resembles. Ladies, it was hilarious. There were guys who I literally would rank as a 1 or 2 looks wise, and their wives were absolutely, ear…

I am ok with serving him and being the absolute best first mate possible, I love waiting on him. I will do anything that makes him happy. I'm not a stupid feminist, I believe strongly in supporting my man to make him the best possible version of himself. What you are describing is not RedPill...it is abusive. You can't achieve everything at once. I suggest making a list, like you did here, of everything you want to eventually do. Then, rank each item on a 1-5 scale (1 being not that important, 5 being highly important). Rank each item based on multiple factors (in a chart), like immediate happiness, longterm happiness, personal passion, moral/personal obligation, relationship benefit, immediate feasability. When you're done doing that, add up all the totals and figure out your top three scoring goals…

Yes, an Omega male can hold down a job, even a high paying job...at first. A man can be intelligent and be an Omega, however, it is often the case that he won't advance very far in his career (or as far as he could) due to what he might call "political reasons". Every girl an Omega has dated will probably be described as "insecure" and "crazy". Every boss he has had has been unfairly prejudiced against him. It's never his fault. The truth is that the Omega man makes a lot of people uncomfortable…

Love this, but I've definitely known younger betas in their early 20s! I think it's just that it's hard to spot a true beta until later years, because they often can't land longterm relationships at younger ages and/or seem to have more potential but then never develop it. For example, an old college friend of mine seemed pretty beta, but then did very well in school and got an impressive high earning job out of college. For a minute there it seemed like he was a real go-getter! Of course, now, …

I agree with this assessment. OP, the type of man you marry depends largely on your own needs and personality. I am married to a true Sigma guy, and for me that's the perfect fit. He is not very social and does not have a big group of dude friends, he doesn't like sports. He doesn't engage in smalltalk or a**kissing at work, but still makes a great income because he's extremely intelligent, gets results, and is polite. He intimidates a lot of men because of his intense energy, but women are gene…

I think it depends on your ages/experience levels. Being together for a year when you're 30 is different than being together for a year when you're 17. In our first year of dating DH definitely brought up marriage, but he was an experienced 25 year old and I was an inexperienced 21 year old. I wasn't ready to be married yet, even though he told me he knew he wanted me to be his wife! He told me to let him know when I started thinking about marriage, and when I was 25 years old I told him I wante…

Don't be too hard on yourself, it happens! When I randomly and without warning fart (which is rare but definitely happens from time to time) I always jokingly turn to my husband and exclaim, as if I'm shocked, "I love the trumpet! I agree with StingrayVC! You should try to replace your anxiety over missing your Captain with gratitude that you have a man who is so wonderful that you miss him! If you're doing all the things you say, like staying fit, seeing female friends, exploring hobbies, etc, I think that's great! When you start to feel that twinge of missing him, just say to yourself, "i am so lucky". When I worked in an office I frequently heard married men and women lament going home, dread seeing their spouses, and …

Me too! I am also a pile-maker and not naturally fantastic at housekeeping. What has helped me is making lists and creating weekly plans. When my husband goes into this kind of "recharge mode" where he is a bit more sullen and wants to be alone I think the best thing I can do is continue to be light and cater to his alone time. If he's camped out in front of the computer working I bring him a little appetizer spread, don't require him to take off his headphones and talk, just set it down and give him a quick kiss on the cheek then walk away. I second this, I think we could have an entire post about the qualities that reflect true femininity (that have nothing to do with "girly" consumerism). I'm a longtime lurker (like years), but new poster, so I'm a bit nervous to start a new thread that's in compliance with the rules.

Yes! I think femininity is portrayed in a negative BluePill light (like Jess on New Girl), so it's easier for women to reject it. In media being feminine basically means being a helpless, shallow, gold digging, wildly emotional, useless, dummy. I also think masculinity is dumbed down in media to represent either a guy who is a totally sexist, mean, abusive, cheating pig, or an inept idiot who only cares about beer and football and can't do anything for himself. Of course, there are fantastically…

I don't think being feminine requires you to check every single box on a form. The fact that you would write something like this that analyzes your friendships and evaluates your own feelings in such depth is extremely female in itself! I am also highly logic minded and have a very small group of female friends who are similar to me, so I understand what you are saying. I've never had a huge gaggle of girlfriends. Lots of things about you are feminine, you say you: -Are a sahm -Like to wear the …

Gratitude is the antidote to dissatisfaction. It's good that you're receptive to making gratitude a larger part of your life! It doesn't all have to be gratitude for your husband either (though of course some of it should be) it can also be gratitude for your home, your body, your children, your intelligence, your community, anything! I love to entertain! In my view the best hostess should put her guests at ease and make the evening feel effortless, not stressful. Here's how I approach hosting for Thanksgiving or any occasion. Hosting Tips Make a one week timeline. The week leading up to the event includes lots of little prep stuff. Make a master list of everything that needs to be done, and then parcel it out over the week long lead up. Be detailed, include items like "buy napkins" and "make mashed potatoes". Shop two days b…

Perhaps you should spend more time working on yourself before trying to have a relationship? It sounds like you still have a lot of anger and resistance and misunderstanding. You were being super rude and dismissive to this guy, essentially your reaction said, "you're too stupid for me to even listen to", so it's no wonder he got offended. Men like relationships with women who are honest and direct (which is different from being ASSERTIVE), that's true, but too many rad fem types mistake honesty…

I find it difficult to hang around anyone who complains a lot but takes zero personal responsibility, whether it's about relationships or not. She's not your husband, so you have zero obligation to be her soft place to land. I don't understand why thinking about finances takes up so much of your time/mental energy. If you are on the same page and have a plan in place it shouldn't be that huge of a daily burden, but maybe I am missing something? You can start to break the lazy cycle by making a list of everything you'd ideally like to do in the course of a week, and then break down tasks into daily schedules. You don't have to spend 5 hours cleaning on the weekend if you do a little cleaning each day. Similarly, shop…
