On the first date? Probaly not... It's the first impression you get, and a guy wanting you to pay or split signals something a woman doing the same is not signalling. But it's good for the woman to offer to split it and mean it. But that's why I don't like first dates where someone HAS TO pay a lot. No payment, no resentment, right?

But inside a relationship I like to pay for him and it's nice :)

I think it's just a nice gesture if the guy pays on the first date or we are out getting something to eat and he picks up the bill. I always make sure to bring money though just in case and if he asks to split, I have the means to do so.
