I am 29. For most of my life, I have focused on myself. I worked after high school, attended college online while working full time. I have my own place, car, and a great job. However, I feel like something is missing. I don't feel complete or fulfilled. I have always felt like i wanted a partner. However, I do admit, I have always been afraid of being hurt so I have turned a lot of guys down. Sorry if this is TMI, but I lost my virginity to a guy at 19, and after that I made a promise to myself to wait until I was in a serious relationship to have sex again. At 26, a friend of mine introduced me to a guy who I just immediately fell for - firefighter, very masculine, dominate but shy. Downside was ....he was divorced with kids. Needless to say, I made the stupid decision to see this guy and get physical with him. I felt like at that time, I wanted to have "fun" and I felt as long as I was seeing just that one guy, I justified it as being okay. He did not want a relationship, but we saw each other every week and spoke almost every day for the course of about 2 years. This ended in a typical way - me catching feelings, and him discarding me. I started questioning everything about myself and why I let this happen to me. I allowed myself to get used and hurt - something I had feared most of my adult life. So now, I am self reflecting. I want to be someone that a man wants a LTR with. I go to the gym, I dress nicely, I have a passion for music, and anything outdoors. Im at a point in my life where I feel like I should be happy with who I am and have a sense of fulfillment, but I don't. I'm wondering what advice you have for me.
