Looking for some help dealing with a friend who hasn't paid me back

Back in August of 2021I lent my friend some money and she said she would pay me back within the month, and I still haven't been paid back....

I find the direct approach is best.

First text her (so you have a written record), "Hey, you know that money I lent you? I could really do with getting it back."

Then if she says makes up some bullshit excuse, be assertive and say you need to buy Christmas presents for your nieces or some similar crap.

Then, next time you are together with her in a group say, in a voice loud enough for others to hear:

"Hey, so, when are you going to pay back that money you owe me?"

In other words, be direct and polite; then, if she does not respond properly, embarrass the hell out of her till she does.

If that fails: contact her father, mother, brother, sister, grandmother: "I'm really sorry to have to bring this up, but I lent xxx yyy to help her out till the end of the month and she is refusing to pay me back. I'm really shocked and I never thought your daughter/sister/granddaughter would act in this way. Do you know if everything is ok with her? I hope she is not mixed up in anything bad."

It will probably nuke your relationship with her. But who wants friends who steal off them?

You are not an arsehole for asking for your money back; she is the arsehole for not paying and she needs to know there are social consequences.
