Meh, dude sounds like a "drunkle".

[–]zionController3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He does. I have some friends like that though, and they drift from intense drunken night to another, but in their moments of clairity they can be surprisingly philosophic.

A lot of the post is in good in spirit but sounds wishy washy to me personally.

He talks about being tough doesn't mean being disrespectful. Quite the subjective philosophy. Being tough is about how you deal with conflicts. What this has to do with respect I have no idea. You're more than capable of being tough and a disrespectful motherfucker.

He talks about leading women but stresses not disrespecting them. Why does this man feel like I have an obligation to respect women in general?

He cracks at the "alpha this, alpha that" style of thinking but says men eat meat and love it. What if I'm a vegetarian [I'm not] would he call me a faggot for it? Sounds like "alpha/beta" thinking to me.

That male friends bit is some fantasy bullshit. I'm sorry I know men are much kinder and more sympathetic than women but we're not all the besty of besties. Give me a break.

All in all it runs very contrary to my philosophy; Every man is his own man, every man can live how you wants to live, every man has a right to make mistakes and thereby every man should try to discover what it is he wants and where he wants to be.

I have no say in what another man does, I do though am willing to help any man if I know where he's going and how to get there. I am also willing to walk with any man whose going anywhere I'm going. But these motivational "everything is possible, love one another" speeches do nothing for me.

I'm not a vegetarian but vegetarianism being effeminate is subjective opinion, and not a fact. If a man wants to eat veggies, fuck it let him. I say this because growing up a good friend of mine "simply can't stand the taste of most meat" and he was completely normal. Not the fantasy idea of masculine, but decently built guy slightly skinny at ~5'10, ran track, liked model airplanes and went into the airforce.

Most people having bias one way or another towards what is masculine or feminine is, is indeed an accident. In the 17th century men wore wigs, dresses, make up, and elegant clothing. What made them masculine was who they were.

All.

What makes you more masculine than a woman is your penis.

No, I thought that's what you were trying to say. My first response was inadvertently agreeing with you. What I'm saying is masculine and feminine are subjective opinions.

[–]josephtkach0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, what I was saying was, if most people perceive vegetarianism as un-masculine, then is it not, in fact, un-masculine?

[–]DEVi4TION0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

IN FACT, no. Masculinity is defined by traits aggressiveness prone, deep voice, stronger structure, more bodily hair, more use of certain brain functions and less of others, and a dick, etc. If most of the population shared an opinion it would not make it a fact. Even one person who thought otherwise and it would no longer fit the definition of fact. If refusing to eat meat were a biologically innate tendency of women, then it would be a fact that vegetarianism was feminine.

Thinking point for example; homosexual men can ACT efeminate or masculine.

Social conditioning is the only reason you perceive some behaviors as masculine or feminine. Like my earlier example of high society in the 17th century, the men wore make up wigs and extravagant attire. Were they less masculine? No, they presented themselves to reflect society's opinion of masculine and successful man. Even some cultures today it is complete norm for the man to stay home and watch after the house. "Traditional" gender roles, as we imagine them today, are relatively new myths. Masculinity has been defined countless different ways through time.

Worrying about what behaviors are masculine or feminine means you are conforming to what society tells you to do (which is good in many cases, we are social creatures) but nobody is defined by by it. Being a vegetarian does not simply make one effeminate. I have my left ear pierced, juvenile people comment on one or the other ear being pierced means I am gay. No, being gay would make me gay. I am straight, and my ear is pierced.

Anyways, I like talking about anthropology and psych. I took many classes. But this convo is tiring.

There are 14 pages worth of this guys stories on there, somehow I feel like you guys have only read the first post. There are some where the guy goes full beta, some where he goes alpha as fuck. It's a great read

almost stopped reading after the whole you should respect girls blablablable stuff, but kept reading. excellent article!!

TRP isn't machocism, it's about realizing how feminism has fucked our society and coping with it. Respecting women and placing them on a pedestal are completely different things. This guy has had a lot of shit happen in his life, he's not always an "alpha" or a "beta" and he makes a lot of mistakes. The key in this is to read it and learn from this guy's experiences. I'm not even sure if it's just a redpillexample, it's really just something everyone should read.

thank you for this

Still doesn't mean you have to be nice to people. I'm respectful when I want to be, not out of some greater sense of obligation.

Same. He was starting to flirt with some blue pill fruity ideas there... but he made an excellent recovery. I enjoyed the article.
