I am happy to see people recognizing differences and overcompensation done in different communities. Overcompensation and zealously happens in gender communities, sexual orientation communities, racial debates, and even political camps.
A long time ago I adopted a centrist way of behavior. There are both bad women and men. There are both bad and good of every race and culture. There are both bad and good of every religious faction and belief system.
It is easy to get caught up and feel extreme about something in a fundamentalist way or a super lovey dovey and accepting hippy way.
Instead of thinking that women or men have to feel lesser or better than each other just recognize this concept. It is an age old concept.
Do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you.
So when someone comes to you and confronts you with something, try and flip the script on yourself and see if it would be bad the other way around or if you see why it would feel bad if you had their history or past.
Some folks don't care if someone watches a show without them but some people do. So perceive things through their eyes. Don't perceive it necessarily through your eyes but either way is close enough to usually see the issue.
When confronted, don't assume you are correct right away. Check with the test of seeing through their eyes what has happened.
Often society has given way to men being big and bad. Often people have done the same kinds of assumptions with other groups. Stereotypes are only somewhat useful in identification but after those identifications you need to check if the elements of the stereotypes hold up or not. It is only a trigger. Just like someone pulling something out of their pocket that is black and shiny can be a trigger concept of a gun. If you saw that you would double check to see if it really was a gun.
Everyone needs to slow their roll a bit. No gender is ever always right. No race is ever always right. No religious belief is always right. Generalities are just average assumptions used to give CLUES to what MIGHT BE and gives us a chance to check to make sure. Making it a reflex to always feel correct or always feel incorrect is a bad thing to do.
I had a female friend a while back who when I met her would always say sorry if you said something to her in any way shape or form that could come off that she was wrong or incorrect or did something that wasn't of positive results or wants. I helped her get out of this habit and this improved her attitude of the world and gave her more confidence. However just as with always being sorry can be bad, the opposite of thinking you are always right is bad as well. She became overconfident and then would never say sorry to people when she did them wrong and started to lie and just be not a very nice person. This is what is overcompensation and it happens often when someone is not calibrated well to a new way of life or methodology. It can happen in games as well. Such as if you try a new way of doing something you overdo it and end up ending with bad results.
So in conclusion, I appreciate that people are taking notice of imbalances but please be aware to keep things centered and in perspective and not overcompensate either. There will be many times when a woman forgives too much and also times where women will end up not being apologetic enough either.
Walking in the middle is difficult but I believe as we become a more accepting world, we will start to see this.
In addition I would like to also note that times will change and they have throughout time. As such, keeping up with a mirrored ability of the opposite sex is a good way to keep perspective.
Dating is an odd concept that people seem to muddy. "Plates" is an odd concept as well. The thing is that you don't have to be in a specific relationship to hang out with a girl or have sex with them either. Neither do women. They can hang out with and bang people all they want if they are not in a specific relationship that has defined rules talked about or agreed upon by the other party. Nobody requires men or women to talk about who they are seeing either unless they get into a relationship where those rules apply. So saying "plates" isn't a useful concept to be honest. It just makes things sound shady and wonky. Seeing other people is a pretty age old concept. Just be real and non deceptive and you should be fine. Just like in any situation in life if you are real, confident, and non-deceptive you should be considered leader material and thus a good person to be around or do things with. Being alpha or beta isn't really a thing either. There are many shades of gray in life. There are always better leaders and there are always less confident people as well. Confidence and social ability without deceptive methods is a wide range of layers of gray. There are some folks that are so scared of social situations they are agoraphobic and never leave their home. Then there are others that practically don't even have their own home because they are out with friends and crashing with people and traveling that they don't need to go home all that much. There is a wide range. Everyone has a comfort level and skill level they wish to reach.
Being alpha or beta is a concept like big and small where there is a range of objective states that rely on the persons point of view that is saying the sentence itself.
I imagine there will be detractors to this statement as well as folks who might agree. Just be aware that we are all fighting a battle in life and try to be excellent to one another. I myself have difficulties doing this at times. My issue ends up being self righteous at times and judging others against my own centered views. This in of itself is a crime against my centered views. I am not perfect either and do not claim to be. I just wish to pass on this message in hopes that it helps center things more.
TL;DR: In short, being centered in concept and not being completely a pushover and not being a completely arrogant self centered twat is what we are going for in life in order to produce the best results all around. Confidence with humility. Men and women acting as equals emotionally and in conversation but with knowing that each gender has it's strengths. Seeing multiple people / dating multiple people / hanging out with people of the gender of your sexual attraction all at the same time and engaging at will - this is perfectly ok for both genders as long as nobody is lying or breaking the agreed to rules of the social situations. No agreed rules means that there are no rules but when you say you are bf and gf that implies rules and that you don't cheat. If you want an open relationship, talk about it if you are bf gf or bf bf or gf gf or whatever other mix up you have in mind. Just be real and not a deceptive douche or a complete pushover either. Think Golden Rule when confronted with peoples accusations. Flip that script on yourself when needing perspective. Often there is no black and white but instead shades of gray so pay attention to this.
