The Pope is being rational, he needs to put asses into pews and build goodwill for the Church with leftists. Kowtow a little bit and get some of the drifting faithful to come back and try to keep the next leftist crusade from targeting the Church establishment

I think that was just a PR move, I don't think he really believes what he said.

I couldn't believe my ears when he said that feminism was not what destroyed traditional family, because it was (and I'm preaching to the choir here, heh), but I still think he's trying to make the Church look nice in the eyes of the groups that hate it the most.

One of his first public declarations was: "who am I to judge a homosexual?"

In the end, I don't think he's irrational at all, I think he knows exactly what he's doing.

I also don't share your view of a pliable nation of betas: I'm Italian and I've been raised in the South, which is considered more religious, and I can say that this whole "brainwashing" thing I keep reading about here on reddit is vastly overestimated.

For example, churches are attended mainly by (older) women, while the typical Italian adult man usually doesn't go to Mass, unless for funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc., and sometimes even then they just wait outside the church in these cases.

The Catholic church died in the early 1960s with the "Vatican Two Council". They've become just another branch of the secular religion of "progress" ever since. They've paid just enough lip service to traditional values to keep the old school Catholics at bay.

The new pope is signaling to his superiors that the Catholic church has officially abdicated it's last remnants of moral authority. I'll bet he'll be officiating a gay wedding at st. Peters before his time ends.

Who would have thought that the Catholic Church would die, not with a bang, but with a queef.

Isn't Jesus Christ the ultimate blue pill? And isn't Buddha Blue Pill too? Actually, I take that back. Buddha's pill colour is probably somewhere in the spectrum of soft lavender…

People want to believe men and women are equal, in fact, its a fairly admirable IDEAL. Sadly this is not the reality and it's quite frankly impossible.

Catholicism puts emphasis on acts of goodwill, forgiveness, compassion, ect. regardless of whether or not it's justified. The WHAT IT SHOULD BE is more more emphasized than WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS. The ACT of being "good" will be enough to get them into heaven regardless of how much one truly believes.

Christianity is a front for individual self preservation of perceived immortality. I guarantee you 99% of people wouldn't do this shit if they didn't get anything out of it.

Catholics venerate Mary, some 16 year old girl who got pumped and dumped by Thundercock. Pregnant and scared, what does she do? She tells her husband Joseph "It wasn't my fault, God did it." This excuse still accounts for some percentage of births in South America...

That being said Christianity has SOME redeeming qualities and SOME compelling ideas but the sad reality is it's based on horseshit. Source? I was Catholic.

Blue pill? Yes. Idk about irrational though. Dude probably just doesn't understand economics. If women really were paid less for the exact same work, it would be fair to call that unfair. They aren't, so it's not. He's wrong about the facts. Obviously, he should be chided for talking about shit he doesn't understand.

I do not think it is absurd to want equal pay for equal work. That statement in and of itself is a good statement. The question becomes how do we define equal pay and equal work. The Pope defined neither in the article. I am willing to bet there are countries in South America, Africa and Asia were women do not receive equal pay.

The CEO has a job to do. That's how I see it. I personally want to see the Catholic church (organized religion in general) go belly up in my life time. However, I am sure in a few years the Church as well as other Christian religions will pander to people's hamster and have an anything goes approach.

No more than 10 years ago it was common sense that being gay and being Christian didn't mix... nowadays it's magically OK. The Hamster is strong.
