It's a book that reports the result of a huge survey/interviews of American millionaires from 1996. It does a great job identifying the things people tend to waste the most money on. It also talks about how people "double dip" on their expertise, IE an auctioneer who also buys antiques, a real estate agent who buys investment properties. I may be combining this conclusion with other books I read around the same time, but the universal key to making big money is having knowledge the wider market …

Exactly right. Have you ever read "The Millionaire Next Door" ? It has a chapter on how much of a financial impact there is between good/no/bad spouses

At least modify it to sound better. I latched onto the internal role of "design engineer". That one gets engagement and curiousity; " electrical engineer" gets a glazed expression. It's all in the marketing.

Well, I think the thing that tends to make TRP right wing is looking to past successes as a template for future ones. This is in contrast to the left who project their ideas forward and use the imagined fruits as reasoning why they should be implemented.

I'd say it's the best thing to come out of network comedy in the past decade. It's worth a couple episodes to decide if you like it, and at the very least it's a good show to watch when you've got a girl over. Start with season 2.

When it comes to political competition, rhetoric (classically defined) wins. The goal is to convince people take action to bring you to power because it will result in the most happiness for them. So, someone trying to win over Trump, should look at the people they want to win over, figure out what those people would respond to and push strongly in that direction. Go full throated and don't moderate on that issue. Trump has successfully done this on immigration and has changed the dynamics of di…

You can room with another person and get 6k/year in rent. Internet and a dumb phone cost less than a grand per year. Internet may even be optional, depending on your job. But using your 37k figure, that leaves you with over 30k and covers rent, taxes and utilities like I said.
/r/TheRedPill16/08/15 02:32 PM

So, let's say you make 50k/year and live in a two bedroom apartment with another guy. You're going to have 30k/year left over after rent, utilities and taxes. That's a ton of money for one person.

Partner count is determined before you meet. Either she's been raised to take sex seriously and has a low count or not. It's not your job to convince a woman her prior behavior was good or bad for her SMV. And when someone tries to shame you for thinking that way, know there's nothing to explain other than its your preference. That is reason enough. When they respond: "well then you'll never get laid", shrug

Women who are "widowed" are truly unfortunate as the issues that come along with it are neither positive, nor within their power to prevent. I know of a girl whose fiancee died in a car accident. She has, in retrospect, many of the qualities we'd want in a wife. But she was out of the dating pool for several years, and only now that she's at the wall is she getting back into it and has to settle for what she can get at this point. There was a guy in college who my best friend and I could never really describe why we disliked him so much. Then he won "Man of the Year" from our college's feminist groups. From there forward we could always explain our dislike for him succinctly. He's the kind of guy who feminists would give an award to.

Let's be fair, Gisele of course won the lottery when it comes to natural gifts. But dozens of people win the lottery every day. She's put in the effort to achieve and maintain the peak of human beauty for years now. She took risks to break into the industry, and then innovated within the field to get huge riches. I'm not saying she's some example of hard work conquering all, I'm just saying the last two zeroes on her net worth wasn't earned by beauty alone.

Well instead of SMV, you have a literal market value. Your market value is dependent on two big factors: the value you add as an employee, and the scarcity of what you offer. You will never be paid more than the value you add to a business over your role being vacant. Scarcity determines how close you will get to that. For instance, a bookkeeper is very valuable to a business, definitely something you can't do without for a business of any size. However, anyone who is of moderate intelligence ca…

I think a change of venue is in order. Start doing some volunteer work on weekend mornings, that's where the kind of girls you might want to marry can be found. I couldn't track down the numbers, but with small numbers like these the margin of error is pretty high. Suppose they surveyed 500 men and 500 women in an unbiased way. That's a very good study in terms of numbers. Of those say 250 of each was married. Of those 500, 6 people, 4 men and 2 women, reported having no sex in the past year. That makes it very difficult to try and draw conclusions besides "there aren't many".

The red pill answer here is to shake your head, admit its shitty, and know they'll be in trouble shortly. The MRA answer, which I feel more inclined to at the moment is if the supervisor in question is not the owner, tell the owner about your experience via anonymous letter or something once the male employee leaves. That's really all you can do now.

I'm not sure if sexual immorality is grounds for per se in Australia. I didn't see it in a quick search. But anyways, I think it'd be tough to get it even if it was the case. The devious thing is the more women add to the workforce in extra productivity, the more their extra income is needed for families to keep pace with the corresponding increase in prices. As there are more dual income families, the amount of goods those two incomes buys regresses to where things started. But not being a dual income family means falling behind the curve. The way I see "Be Yourself" is women would rather you be uncool and confident in it than uncool and trying to play cool. So if you play D&D every Thursday night with a group, and she says "what are you doing Thursday?", the wrong answer is "Oh these people invited me to play D&D with them, I'm not normally into that sort of thing, but I'd feel bad canceling or leaving". That's an inappropriate analogy and an illogical jump besides. A hack a thon is a game, not a matter of consequence. OPs main point is more analogous to saying women are worse at basketball because the refs are men. The claim might be true, the evidence is, however, non sequitur

Using an oppressor/oppressed frame for understanding the issue and using it to determine how you choose sides. The Marxist view of economic history is of class struggle between the owners of wealth and workers. An oppressor and the oppressed. The oppressed are too be championed no matter what and the oppressors may not dissent.

My guess, from having witnessed a hack a thon before is they really just needed people to do help administer the event. They wanted as many women as possible participating, so they had men doing support. A hack-a-thon requires a pretty decent support staff, so it's pretty reasonable. I don't buy the "had to bring in the boys cuz they're better" argument here.

One thing that makes anything, even video games, look better is making money (or just trying to make money) from it. All of a sudden you're not wasting your time and money, you're trying to find a way to generate some side income. You're an entrepreneur, you're working towards a goal, you've got something interesting. It works nicely. If you want to try to make money off of video games, its a crowded field, but being a streamer/youtuber can net a few bucks. If you garden, write a blog describing…

Imagine you are there for a job interview: "our offer is $50,000" do you want the person who takes it desperately without question, or the person willing to walk away from it to find a better sum elsewhere? That's a surefire way to ensure you only hire those who you overvalue. Ultimately, this won't last long once other companies start negotiating with Reddit employees. Humanity is blessed to have something like Meditations preserved. It can very well be argued that there is no better example of the heights we are capable of than Marcus Aurelius. Everyone knew from the time he was 16 he was a man for the ages and he got to have a long career with incredible power and wielded it supremely well. It's said that it took more than 1500 years or more for such a high proportion of humanity to live in conditions as well as they did under Marcus Aurelius. He represents …

Yeah I went and looked it up before I found the comment. Levitt did a study on California births and found that once you controlled for socioeconomic things there wasn't a difference in outcomes. However, the chapter also cited resume studies which showed that resumes with randomly assigned names showed a 50% difference in response rate. Those are measuring two different things but I think the conclusion is that while it matters it is easily surmountable.

I think this post makes a very salient point that combines with a post yesterday. In there we saw that wealthy people, with many guests who throw thrifty weddings are the most likely to stay married. Never stop spinning plates, even in an LTR/marriage. That doesn't mean cheat, it means don't stop meeting new people because you're committed. One naturally meets girls all the time if you've got shit going on. Invite them to group activities/parties. Maybe it helps get your buddy laid, maybe she's cool enough to keep getting invited. It's not the same as bedding three women regularly, but it's healthy, good for your self esteem, and good for your woman to see you do.

I know this is a theory you like, but honestly you are thinking like a feminist to protect it. You're using a motte and bailey argument by ditching the dates and strict structure. If the dates are wrong, his thesis is wrong. And editing his conclusion and then asking me to refute it, without any evidence provided the new form is correct is shifting the burden of proof.
/r/TheRedPill16/02/15 12:08 AM

Most of the facts you have are wholly correct, but the elites screwing people over on food was shortly before the imperial era. Once there was an emperor, he kept the elites in line to keep the support of common folk. At the end of the western Empire, there were big food shortages, but that's because the farming land in North Africa was occupied by the Vandals, and Italy was full of wineries and other farms dedicated to luxury, rather than staple, foods.

Yeah that thing is more full of holes than a sieve. Of course the problem with arguing with something like is that it requires 10 times the effort to refute bullshit than it does to create it. Well you did a good job at research, but I think the analysis is far off. Now part of the problem is that our knowledge of the years 250BC-100AD of Roman history is greater than the sum of the other 900 years of pre-476 Roman history, so our understanding of Roman culture tends to focus on this. Ultimately the problem with trying to draw conclusions about the fall of civilization from this period is deeply flawed because Rome was constantly in the ascendancy during this time frame, and would con…

Well, brain to body size ratio is a big correlation to intelligence between species. And, even without taking into account width, humans certainly haven't been evolving to be smaller. As a result of more and better food, the average height of a person has grown a few inches over 150 years.

No, I don't think you have a chance under any circumstances. But if for some crazy reason she wants to say something to you, she will get in touch, you've made several attempts without response. The way she'll think best of you in the future is just to leave her alone. It's gone on too long already, but your first step in growing from this is to give up your fantasy of dating her and let her be happy without you. Step 2 is spend the next month at the gym, cut off everything but socializing, read…

Nope, you reek of desperation, which is the least attractive trait a man could have. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube and go back to pining for her without her knowledge, and she's not going to dump her bf for you acting the way you are. Don't contact her again, if she decides she gives a shit about you, she knows where to find you. If not, at least you're not wasting your time on a lost cause.

You really need to do some soul searching. Would you want a guy who acts like you dating your sister, or some other woman you care about? Read the sidebar, learn a few things, but you need to do some real introspection. The first thing I can offer, is never censor yourself. When you want to say something say it. You'll do better saying too much than never articulating what you want. You've blown it with this girl, but don't fuck up next time. Also, spend more time talking to random people, espec…

I think that's a good list. There's certainly nothing I would take off, and I think any additions would be to green flags, but are very person-dependent. I'd add domestic interests, or traditionally feminine hobbies, as it shows she'll have something to contribute to my household. Overall, for me, the post was very reassuring. I was a bit wary getting into an LTR, I was planning on going monk modemode as I got in shape and lost weight, but went one last date before doing so. The girl I ended up …

If it is a fact you'll have to back it up with evidence, you know, like in any scientific field. That's a high standard for an imgur album, OP certainly doesn't have that level of evidence. And it really doesn't matter. If you think he's talking bullshit just say it and say why you think it.

I think this is a great list, and the 7 and 7 is a great aesthetic choice. I've got a question and thought if you are looking to add anything. My question is, regarding week 6, what sorts of things would you expect a stranger to give you, besides a business card, without directly asking? How does that happen in conversation? Also, I read something, circa 2011/2012, that a way of approaching this sort of anxiety was to make it your goal to get one person to tell you "no" every day. If you already…

I'll say a few things, and consider that I have a STEM graduate degree so I can appreciate much of your BB fears. First is that women don't go and marry a BB because he's a beta, she marries him because he's the only one who will. In a woman's ideal world she wants a high SMV man who provides for her. These women know you have future provider ability, but when presented with many possibilities, she'll still want the one she perceives as most "alpha". The fact that you are/will be a good provider…

I don't believe your antecedent is true. Roman decadence was in full swing 300+ years before the Empire converted, and had been waning for years by the time it actually happened. That kind of decadence was also very much an upper class phenomena. The one big counterpoint I'm aware of is Christianity is credited with ending legal infanticide in the Empire, and this happened during the reign of Constantine.

As always the appropriate things to ask are 1) is there a police report, and what does it say? 2) what does the alleged perpetrator have to say about things? 3) does the story have inconsistentcies? 4) is the story bring used as a means to promote a cause. If there's no police report, no attempt to contact the perpetrator, the story has inconsistencies, and it's being used to advance a cause, then I'm going to be skeptical until further information becomes available.

Don't go looking for plates, go looking for someone who can hold an interesting conversation for 2 minutes. Everywhere you go where you'd be twiddling your thumbs for a few minutes waiting, strike up a conversation with someone. Male, female, HB9 or a troll, it doesn't matter. The whole point is to be a man who people want to follow, not to turn people with agency into thralls. I just hope you warn us in the future before you post your own sexual fantasies.

First things first, have him think of the kind of girlfriend he wants to have, or pick out an example. Then have him imagine what kind of guy she would want to date. If he becomes that guy, he'll have no trouble getting a girlfriend. Of course I don't condone "having a girlfriend" as a life goal, but to each their own.

If you want to bother, just treat her like any other girl, and if she brings up irrational bullshit, just laugh and don't engage. If you engage you're showing respect for the idea and saying it's credible and worth your time to ponder.

Asking her straight up is way more alpha than getting it through a friend. Be bold my friend. You don't know when or if you'll see her again, so take a chance. If you ask and she ignores you, you are literally just as bad off as you are now, so why not just go get what you want?

Well this was long before I found TRP. This chick and I had had a long history and I had very much been her beta orbiter. She got out of an LTR and decided I would be a nice way to ease into the cock carousel and then used me to get with my (ignorant of the situation) friend. After telling her to fuck off this was her way of trying to bring me back into orbit.
/r/TheRedPill14/09/14 12:21 PM

Already had them actually. I had briefly lost orbiter status to be her safe and easy entry into the land of hypergamy. This was her attempt to put it back on me. Got sent nudes along the way. Edit: keep in mind, this was long before I found TRP and was the event that made me hit beta bottom and started my climb back up.

Best case scenario it's a bad joke. I hope that's what it is. However, this made me think of one of my finer passive aggressive moments. A girl who thought she could take advantage of me for some free tech support asked me if I'd fix her laptop for her. I told her to drop it off and I'd take a look at it that weekend. She dropped it off, gave me a hug and left. I put the laptop in a corner and went about my business. In the middle of the next week she calls and asks if I've looked at her laptop.…

The one thing you should never tell a feminist about women's sports that aren't judged (like say the WNBA but not figure skating) is the fans and the people spending money are overwhelmingly male. No woman who loves basketball is watching the WNBA; its the Dad who's got his daughter for the weekend that is the customer of those leagues.

Of course he's 100% to blame. Did you guys seriously watch the video? She gives him a slap that leaves him unfazed and he knocks her out cold. Seriously people, he brutally escalated things when he had no reason to do so. There's such a thing as moral or justified violence and this just fails any criteria for it without question. If the courts don't throw him in jail, it's a great disservice because if he's capable of that kind of wanton behavior, he shouldn't be a free man.

You seem like an outgoing guy who'd have no trouble making new friends if you wanted to. I'd say slowly work on building new friendships outside of this group. Over time you will decrease your time with old friends and start spending more time with newer ones. It doesn't have to happen all at once.

Can't stress enough how right this guy is. Whatever you want to do, go do it and enjoy it. Unless you want to play a team sport, play a board game or conduct a symphony, you don't need to other people to go and do things. So if you want to do something and there is someone convenient around, invite them if you'd like. If not, enjoy yourself. The casual believers absolutely don't see the motte from the bailey, so to speak. If they could, they'd recognize its a fallacious argument and not use it. A hardened follower would recognize it eventually and realize the motte position isn't sufficient to explain a philosophy. Their response would be to A) continue using the motte position as a way to win or shut down arguments, knowing they are misrepresenting themselves and making a fallacious argument (aka the political operative) or B) figh…

I saw on here before a term for this kind of argument (that the feminist makes) called a Motte & Bailey argument. This compares to a medieval fortress type whose defensive strategy matches this feminist argumentation. The outside of the fortress is protected by a small wall and thin gate, inside is where normal activity takes place. Farms, shops, houses et cetera are inside this wall and is called the bailey. In the metaphor, this is where feminists usually discuss issues amongst themselves. The…

Several days ago I finished a documentary series called "Monarchy" on Netflix with David Starkey, which I'd highly recommend to anyone who wants to jump in head first into English history. It's framed around the kings themselves and how they ruled, very interesting stuff. Anyways, it is truly awesome to know that guy has such a great extemporaneous mind. Well as someone who tries to maintain a healthy skepticism, the question of choosing a null hypothesis (what to believe with a lack of evidence) is important. I think it is generally good practice not to use the thing you want to be true as a null. This places the burden on you to prove the thing you want to believe.

The genetics does actually say your father's baldness is irrelevant. Baldness gene is X-linked so there's a 50% chance you get yours from your maternal grandfather, 25% from your maternal grandmother's father, 12.5% from your mother's maternal grandmother's father, 6.25% from your maternal grandmother's maternal grandmother's father, etc.

Agreed. I don't believe that's what OP did. I think he found the confidence to stand up for himself. Even though it isn't the standard TRP approach to marriage game, OP is clearly building his frame and gaining confidence in himself, which alone will be a big improvement.

I would disagree on a couple of points here. 1) feminism, as it exists today, is not about treating women equally. 2) being reality based, TRP accepts basic biological truths like gender dimorphism, which is tautologically incompatible with perfect equality. 3) TRP isn't a retaliation against feminism, it's strategy for men to succeed in the world they've created.

It all depends on what you would want to change, and what you would want to change it to. If you're looking to push the zeitgeist towards TRP, you're going to need to fundamentally change the dynamics of the institutions that push the zeitgeist away from it. Changing the relationship between the federal government in the US and higher education would probably make the biggest IMO, since it enables the livelihoods of the biggest offenders in creating and spreading non-reality based, logically inc…

Based on the formatting I thought you might have been making some point like under what conditions would cause people to ghost, and how many people would have to accept those conditions to create a situation like Japan, and wouldn't it just be better to horde all the money and power while still refusing to procreate.

Im going to assume these are three independent questions 1)I don't believe "ghosting" means to completely dislodge, it means to check out on the parts of society you're expected to participate in (pursuing women, achieving ever higher levels of professional and monetary success) and instead do what's necessary to live the life you choose. 2) Japan's demographic situation is a result of the birthrate beong far under the replacement rate (2.2 children per woman) for several decades. There's no good term for it. But you might describe the action as pointing out logical inconsistency by applying previous assumptions to later arguments. I don't know how far you'll get with it, logical consistency obviously isn't a big issue to the people you're trying to convince.

I should also note that since the 60s, the elite, wealthy Americans went from being the most libertine class to the least libertine class. All the while, the social theories and policies concocted by this same group of people encouraged more libertinism which infected the middle and lower classes. Libertinism amongst the lower and middle classes prevents them from forming stable families, which is the easiest way to rise in income.
