Nope. Feminism ruined a generation of men. Retreating into technology is a symptom, not the cause.

Zimbardo wanders into controversial territory when he argues that the loss of male exclusivity in the role of breadwinner is damaging to male psychology.

I think it's the loss of many activities that were previously 99% male, like when I see a woman on a Harley. It's kinda cool, but there's nothing left that's male-only. It was the previous status quo or milieu that made men what they were. You can't change that much of society and expect men to remain unchanged.

Feminism and its mistaken ideas reinforced in popular culture, and single mothers raising boys without a masculine father influence has more to do with the problem than internet porn. At some point video games need to go and these stalled adolescents need to become men by leaving childish things behind to quote Kalil Gibran.

Remember the voiceover line in Fight Club? "We're a generation of men raised by women." Big part of the problem.

Technology does have an effect, but is not the root cause, feminism is (gender quatas and cultural/legal attacks on masculinity). However, it's good that intelligent people are starting to question their reality in academia with no PC nonsense like the Lionel Tiger video. He was spouting RP left and right without our terminology.

Having technology is at least one positive thing men have done despite this damage and is key to us figuring our way out of the mire as we inform each other using technology and keep ourselves entertained & occupied mentally in a far safer manner than crazy-bitch relationships with feminists.

You need to be mindful of Zimbardo's actual qualifications. He's a famous social psychologist. Which is a bona fide scientific discipline alright, but if you were familiar with the field (as I happen to be) you'd realize that what he's talking about is way outside of it.

There are other issues I'm unfortunately very familiar with that he talks about, namely ADHD, medication and their relation to video game "addiction." He is completely wrong, both wrt empirical data and what we understand the disorder to be. He clearly confuses cause and effect in a way that's just laughable. We know that people with ADHD are more prone to spend too much time on video games, we know exactly why that is, we also know with near absolute certainty that ADHD medications aren't the cause of video game "addiction."

ADHD is a very serious disorder, it's just that its effects are often not dramatic enough for people to realize it. It's also a very well studied one, with decades of research, thousands of clinical studies, and billions invested in pharmaceutical and neurological research.

Zimbardo clearly chose to ignore those and repeat pop culture bullshit instead of doing the research. He gets away with it because he made a name with one ethically and scientifically shocking experiment in the 70s. While his results remain interesting, his work has been heavily criticized.
