Male disposability is always fascinating to observe, to the point where you can never expect sympathy from anyone, men or women, no matter how nonsensical their complaints sound (i.e. boys being horribly butchered is fine, girls getting kidnapped deserves world attention).

You see the same thing with video games or films: women complain that female characters have a bare belly button and are loved by everyone. They forget that for one apex action hero, there are countless male characters whose only purpose, especially in video games, is to be faceless, nameless, and getting butchered by the protagonist so he can build his alphaness with beta male blood.

I'm sure these countless goons would love to have the luxury of a bare belly button and a shallow character developpment revolving around being loved by the main cast, if that meant they could avoid being butchered, maimed and killed.

In short: either you are on top, or you don't exist and whatever happens to you, no one cares. The Boko Haram case is just yet another proof of that. Nothing wrong with a little reminder so you never grow false hopes, but since it has always been thus and will never change, then knowing about it to judge someone's sincerity is all you can do.

I said this elsewhere, and it fits here. The topic was over how some black feminists are trying to say that the reason why the domestic press has largely ignored this until now is because the girls are black.

Boko Haram has been in international news for a long time. In fact, during the Kony 2012 online campaign a few years ago, some people were trying to draw attention to the group, but it was largely ignored. You still hear about what has happened occasionally but the situation just expected at this point as a ongoing conflict.

The reason you are hearing about it now, is because the people who keep promoting things like Rape Culture and Patriarchy finally noticed and kicked up enough noise to get domestic media to pick it up. It fits the online activists arguments perfectly. Again, no mention that the group is fighting against education and religion for everyone and wants a pure Islamic state, and no mention about the 24 boys burned alive in February. All that they care about is that they are kidnapping/molesting girls and depriving them from an education.

Now, you have the other black feminists coming in complaining about why nothing was done years ago. Again, ignoring the attacks on education and religion, but want to press their arguments that society ignores their needs.

Wait until the "War on Christianity" people hear about the killing of Christians by the group.

Al Qae... Err I mean Boko Haram - the latest CIA manufactured boogeyman for the west. Guess which government helped arm Boko Haram when Qadaffi was being touted as a threat to the west?

The US will have an occupying, pro democratic 'counter insurgency' and 'security advisors' in Africa in 3-4 years to 'help' those poor Africans (relieve the countryside of its raw resources).

So happy I'm getting out before I get the call to pack my bags and head over there

Move a dozen B-52's to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Move Drones to Nigeria. Problem solved in less than a week. For the aftermath, work with the Russians and Europeans to arm and train those Christian villages.

Is this really not big news because these people are black? I went to a funeral this morning and that possibility is the most depressing thing I have heard today.

Boko Haram is also a CIA co-opted front who is manipulating the world media through this event...I am not disputing facts but I think ya'll (sic) should be aware that a lot of world events with strong emotional reactions tied to them are, and have been, manipulated by intelligence agencies...Doctors Without Borders is a good example of a known CIA infiltrated organization.
