Introduction

A conversation I’ve just had with /u/BurgundyCarpet in his own recent thread got me thinking about communication. Namely, that just because two people are attempting to communicate, doesn’t mean they understand one another. This is very true of interactions having to do with sexual strategy.

Body

Imagine the following text conversation:

Mom: Your new prom dress looks like something a whore would wear!

Becka: Cunt!!!

Now it’s pretty obvious what’s going on here, right? Stereotypical, destructive mother-daughter relationship. You can tell that the daughter is a teenager, and that her mother is overbearing and not very kind. If you look deeper, you can infer that the daughter doesn’t respect her mother, and that there’s likely no strong male figure in the house to maintain discipline.

But what if this was all just a miscommunication? What if your assumptions are completely wrong, because they’re based on the evidence of what you see, without context of how that evidence came about?

URGENT UPDATE: Today, all new models of the iPhone 7.349xyz will receive a mandatory software update due to a glitch in the Messages app. The glitch caused all occurrences of the word “princess” to be replaced with the word “whore”.

Different story now, right? Clearly, the mother was victim of an unfortunate accident, and had no intention of calling her daughter a whore. But the daughter is still reacting pretty strongly, calling her mother a cunt right off the bat. Probably still not a very strong mother-daughter relationship.

The glitch also caused all occurrences of the phrase “OMG MOM” to be replaced with “cunt”. This message brought to you courtesy of TRP: Tech News You Can Trust™

Ah. Well. Seems like when we took things purely at face value, we made some wrong assumptions. Thank the gods there was a benevolent news entity to set us straight.

You’re not idiots. You see where I’m going with this.

If you take things at face value, you believe the blue pill spiel. Every woman deserves respect just cuz, and most men are lovable dopes that are lucky to have a good woman to set ‘em straight, and hot girls are supposed to experiment with their sexuality in their twenties so they can be satisfied they didn’t miss anything when they settle down, and guys who don’t marry the chubby single mom are immature for not seeing her strength and inner beauty.

I know it’s believable. I used to believe it, and I’m a pretty smart dude. I bought into the blue pill Disney dreamworld for years, because I wasn’t operating with all the information. I got a wake up call before discovering TRP, but many men don’t. For many of them, exposure to this sub is the first, bitter, downright horrifying URGENT UPDATE message blipping across their screens. Think of the emotional fallout that short text exchange above could have, and then imagine 20, 30, even 40 years’ worth of misinterpreting the world. How fucked up would that be?

When you understand the rules of the system, you can play the game. If even just one side of the text conversation knows about the glitch, he can engineer the way he plays the game to account for it. And he’ll understand when the person on the other end says something a little fucked up, because he knows the presentation isn’t the same as the intent.

The Red Pill tells us how to understand the glitch, and make it work for us instead of railing against it. Don't hate Becka or her Mom because the system changed the message to something you weren't expecting. Learn about what happened behind the scenes, and proceed accordingly.
