Temporary boosts of confidence can be not much better than a "high".
In fact people often get hooked on drugs because they give the feeling of confidence, but once it wears off you are back to confusion and depression.
All confidence is derived from a firm grasp of reality.
Depression is best seen as the inability to fully understand the nature of reality.
Blue Pill thinking is literally crammed into you from the outside your whole life up until you take the Red Pill. Everyone is exposed to this toxic and confused Blue Pill emotional indoctrination. We all got brainwashed.
So give yourself a break.
.
Accept you were abused by the Blue Pill.
Vent some serious anger about it for a while. (rants)
Then calm down, get into a stoic frame and seriously try to understand the truth.
It's the stage where the truth is deeply understood that the confusion disappears and your confidence rises.
Never expect a quick and easy "high".

This is something that helped me, I always sought truth and never cared about emotional pain in it, however it does take time to process TRP and there are many other red pills in life and I was choking on about 10 of them at once. This is why I was both depressed and confident, I had a very firm grasp on reality through a very solid rational lense, however it was still extremely painful to see what life is, how things work, how I was lied to, and how I couldn't save or help most people.
However existential anxiety is not solved by TRP or anything else I have found yet. So you can be extremely confident, feel like a God, and be very sure of your reality but still feel horrible because life is very fucked up. Eventually you accept things and get over it, but like I said, there are way more red pills out there than just reality about women.
He who increases in knowledge increases in sorrow.
For instance, if you were a master Jenga player and were playing a Jenga tournament and knew you were gonna win, but you were in a room where babies were being stabbed in the face the entire time but you couldn't stop it, would that affect how confident you were at Jenga? It might be distracting and horrible and you would feel bad, and the other guy might say "those babies don't exist" and believe it (aka blue pillers), and it might make you depressed even, but would your confidence in your Jenga skills be affected? You might not be very interested in Jenga anymore, but you would be at the same confidence level.

I agree with this up to a point.
The Red Pill is the tip of the iceburg in realizing how much the West has established an emotional indroctrination that fools us in many ways.
New documents just revealed show proof that before 911 the CIA met with Al Qaeda figures on a regular basis. It's all a deception. (and it's still unfolding)
As you are growing up you think:
"My leaders care for me and women are angels."
...but the more you see reality the more you see the world as a game of Survivor where those that best manipulate perception rule over those without a clue.
Once you wake up you kick yourself. (sorrows)
But many get near waking up and because those realizations are too much to handle they dive into addictions to escape reality. The longer you escape reality the further your inner truth becomes different than the real world and that sucks the life out of you and makes you depressed.
The answer is to commit to the truth no matter what that asks of you. One must be brave.
The world is not an innocent place... Red Pill helps you navigate through it's dangers and in the end allows you to laugh at it all.

I guess it depends on how empathetic you are to others suffering. If you are more dark triad then this knowledge just sets you free, but if you have strong moral character its very difficult. Its like being a sheep and you escape the line to the butcher house, and you want to show all the sheep the hole in the fence to get out, but if you do that they will try to kill you (think white knights, blue pillers, manginas), so the only thing you can do is go sit with the wolves and enjoy sheep burgers.
I have pretty much given up on trying to help/convince people (of just about everything), I accept that they won't accept it, and most of humanity would rather stay warm on the way to the butcher than escape and be cold for a time and live.
Kind of like Plato and the cave, the only thing people hate more than the truth is those who tell the truth, whether those are sheeps or wolves. Society is like a machine that has no incentive for truth, that why women are the way they are because the only truth that matters is how strong each particular male is (which they are also poor judges of for the modern era).

The knowledge of Lucifer can be used in different ways.
Lucifer is the smartest guy in the room.
Jesus would be classified as having the knowledge of Lucifer, but he used that in a positive way.
It's when you combine great knowledge and the reptilian aspects of your brain (centers of fear and alienation as well as sensuality) that the knowledge of Lucifer "falls" and those traits of 777 ("mind, heart, soul" - with "7" representing wholeness) become the traits of 666 ("6" falls short of "7")
Lucifer begins as "7" and falls to "6" which is a lower order vibration.
The "7" can defeat the "6".
Just because you become Red Pill doesn't force you to fall to 666 traits... but it often does.
The beta is in hebrew the "Hei" which is a sort of androgynous non-being.
God is "Yod" - "Hei" - "Vav" - "Hei" (Yahweh) which literally means "man fucks woman to create life".
When you say "fuck" in the life creative sense you say "god"... the god of creation... of life.
The 666 energy is against the life force.

As a RedPiller and recreational drug user I'll have to say that I disagree. When I use drugs, it's actually to EMBRACE reality, not to escape it. Which is what I found myself unconsciously doing when I'm not on drugs/alcohol because my bluepill subconscious jumps in and tells me that what I think about doing/saying isn't the right thing to do, even though it is.
An example of this is when I'm in a club gaming girls. If I am sober I'll come off as boring because regardless of every fucking seduction technique I know I'll still go all bluepill and have a debate in my head about whether or not I should say something, only to end up not saying it and switching it with something fake instead that makes me come off as indecisive, avoidant and boring and you know... The bitch loses interest because I just went full beta.
However when I'm on alcohol or on MDMA for instance, it's quite the opposite. I say what I want loudly and proudly with a ground shattering confidence, I have an intense stare that makes girls wet for some reason, combine that with my confidence and ability to use every seduction technique I know without doubt and ability to even manipulate discussions and leading them to where I want them to go and I become the king of my REAL world. This is why even though TRP community seems to be against it, I advocate using recreational drugs every so often. Not to develop a dependence on them but to take a shortcut to the Alpha world, come back from it and then start working on yourself to become that person without any drugs. You see I used to read TRP theories, and I believed in them and knew they were the truth. But once I was in the field I couldn't put them into action, I had to do a lot of practice and I was starting from scratch with a soft personality, that needs a lot of time and leaves room to the terrible doubt of "Well maybe TRP was wrong or maybe I'll never become the Alpha" Which is your ticket back to the blue-pill world. Using a recreational drug after embracing TRP mentality, ideas and tactics is like taking a shortcut that will show you what you can and will become if you work on improving yourself.

I'm exactly like you alcohol makes me a social and fun guy instead of the natural introvert I am. But I think drinking and doing drugs is the easy path and only a temporary one because those things only hold you back, why? you need to spend money, your health gets affected, once the effect is over your back to nothing or worst than before, etc. Nowadays I limit my consumption, everything with moderation is great but also when you are capable of being confident without drugs you are really free, look at Tyler from RSD that guy doesn't drink at all but he's able to be completely confident.
You see I used to read TRP theories, and I believed in them and knew they were the truth. But once I was in the field I couldn't put them into action.
It's unfortunate that you are dependent on drugs to reach that mental state.
I'm capable of talking for hours with drugs / alcohol or not. Actually too much alcohol really makes me overly fixated on narrow trains of thought.(tunnel vision thinking... which is how alcohol functions on the brain)
I've done MDMA in the past. It definitely opens your heart up and makes vulnerability easier because you imagine yourself as being open hearted and unable to be hurt. But in the real world if someone attacks you then your response should be to navigate away or around them. So in some sense the lessons learned from MDMA are the wrong lessons.
MDMA works against your power and makes being vulnerable seem desirable. (beta)
We want Amused Mastery which is in a sense a frame holding invulnerability... we laugh at life rather than bleed our hearts to life.
Red Pill is being the "laughing rock".

As someone with over 2 years of sobriety I couldn't agree with you more. Alcohol went from something I used to socialize to something I abused by myself before I decided it was time for rehab.
[–]NeoreactionSafe 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Never drink alone.
What I do is never buy alcohol at the grocery store then it's never in the refrigerator.
If you live within walking distance of a bar (like I do) then you confine your alcohol to public settings. I do festivals too.
Some people are better off not drinking at all, but sometimes you can just realize that daily drinking is a mistake. I got into trouble drinking daily 20 years ago and learned from it and I now never drink two days in a row. Typically it's just once a week or less.

Confidence and depression are linked but not necessarily opposite sides of the same spectrum.
Take Patrice O'neal for instance. He was one depressed mother fucker. He said several times how if he was a white man he would have killed himself already.
Still the man had excellent confidence.
One of my buddies who is a doctor is the same way. Dude is capable, confident in his abilities, and doing well in life.
Still he is a fucking depressed sack. He sees kids dying of cancer, pulls bullets out of rich attempted suicides one day then has to tell broke ass dudes they are inoperable the next,
Sometimes its the world thats depressing, not necessarily the individual in it.

I like this. I experienced existential angst very early and then intensely when I started doing drugs at 13. It led to depression and declining SMV over the last 10 years. Patrice went to prison early in life and got a dose of harsh reality. While he became stronger for it, his friend collapsed from it. I feel like the friend - I was too dumb and weak to figure things out and get what I wanted. I needed the red pill.

Edit: I'd like to add confidence can be in different areas, for instance confidence in your ability at soccer vs your ability at chess vs your ability to do salsa dancing. And when I was at the worst my social confidence was lower, but the bar is so low being better than average requires very little effort. I'm stage 2 confidence atm, but I've been state 3 depression, but it was never about confidence and I always thought other people were really shitty (cuz they are).
I disagree, I have had serious problems with depression but confidence has never been a problem, I am often accused of arrogance and women see me as a bad boy, they are not opposite ends of the spectrum, but people think if you are confident you can't be depressed which is really annoying, along with not understanding depression in general. Most of my depression is about existential anxiety and not about personal/social/ability/etc which might be different, but for me they are almost two different things. And people can't tell my state of mind anyway, people are surprised when I tell them I am depressed and to get help I feel like I have to "play the part" or else people won't believe me which is infuriating because people judge you based on their preconceived notions and how you look at the moment rather than on what is objectively true (which they can't see). Generally if you have mental problems you have to learn to hide them because people don't understand and are more of a drain than a help (and if you are a man no one gives a fuck about you), so I guess I am pretty stoic/hold frame because thinking about death all the time makes me really not give a fuck about anyone's opinions or bullshit, but I have very serious issues with death/existential anxiety and things outside of the social sphere. But every time I go out now I dress well and groom myself well and the way people treat you is very different.
I feel very confident in my abilities, my intellect, my will, and my drive and I view depression as a problem that is completely unrelated (like a broken leg) and only causes minor social anxiety if that. So either you don't have actual depression, you have a different type, or its different in different people, but confidence and depression to me are loosely related, and faking it or actually being confident seems to be roughly similar in effectiveness in most situations with most people. When it gets really bad though I do have reduced confidence but I am still more confident that 90% of people (which means I have even a minimal amount of self respect and masculinity), and I have a lot of tricks to deal with this. One is simply, if someone is acting in a way I don't like I will walk away which is alpha, but the reason for doing this is I don't expose myself to shit people or reward shit behavior. Simply making eye contact and having strong body language is enough to be better than 80% of people even when you are extremely depressed (which says a lot about the average male).
Anyway, this is how I have felt with a recent experience that really pissed me off. It seems like no one wants to help you if you are groomed and well dressed and confident, that you can't possibly be depressed if you are like that, so if you want help you need to dress bad and be scruffy and not be "alpha" or else they will think you are faking it. But for women being alpha actually makes them go the extra mile and want to do stuff for you, so its mixed bag, I notice that when I dress better and act alpha women want to help me a LOT more. Like they think "this guy has good genes and needs help", "this guy is a wounded warrior but will recover and will be strong", its basically Briffault's Law, at some future point I will have value and they feel it. I'd call it "wounded alpha game". I've always had this my entire life, I think "broken-man game" is similar if you want to google for that. Anyway, if you are dealing with men make they will generally give a fuck about you, if you are dealing with women they will hate you if you are weak, but if you are alpha they will do anything for you (and believe anything you tell them, you are better off gaslighting a woman as an alpha than being genuine with a woman as a beta as far as results are concerned). I noticed this when in the hospital if I was demanding I got what I needed or else I got fuck all. Now women always want to do shit for me and get me things, and if they know about my depression they want to help me. Its pretty crazy.
TL:DR I'm a bit scattered today but... confidence and depression are loosely related to me, if you are depressed fake confidence with women and they will help you rather than be disgusted by you. Its hard to fake it when you are really depressed, but if you can do it for a hospital stay or a doctor's visit she will view you as alpha til you come back again and put you as priority and bend over backwards to help you rather than hate you for being weak (Briffault's Law)

I'm having the same problem my depression comes from the fact that I'm constantly thinking in death, why endure suffering and continue with this existence if all will be pointless at the very end of my life? I'm not sure but I think existential depression it's not the same as clinical depression. Based in what we know clinical depression is an imbalance in the dopamine and serotonine levels in the brain but then I'm healthy so why you and I are having this problem with existential nihilism?
[–]NikolaTeslaMGTOW 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Try some tylenol. I'd offer you a cure but I haven't found one yet, however its much more manageable when I take my shirt off in the sun for 2 minutes each side in mid day sun, manage my electrolytes, eat healthy, don't be around shit people, sleep well, workout, and most importantly for me a keto diet. Also look into depersonalization/derealization and see if you have that as well, I get that sometimes for a few hours at a time but it is very minor, and I almost always have existential anxiety at the same time.
The problem with existential anxiety is its not even a recognized form of anxiety, its a real issue with no real solution, and its very rational to be concerned with it. Here is a video that has helped me and it has several solutions. I don't know if its true that depressed people have more accurate perceptions (data is mixed), but I found this to be extremely useful. It also shows which cognitive distortions people use (which don't work for me) to not have angst.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ8yxGYJ4rw
Also I'm not a nihilist, I am a perspectivist, but even this doesn't seem to solve it for me. I basically believe I am God and make my own values and do what I want and make my own purpose. But the immenseness of life, freedom, and death..... if this doesn't cause you concern you are either stupid or deluded.
The video was really good thanks for sharing, also I think the best way I've found to cope with the negative thoughts is meditation along with absurdism as my main source of comfort now. As the last paragraph from the myth of sisyphus says: "The effort requiered for reaching the tops is enough to fulfill the heart of a man. We must imagine sisyphus happy". This philosophy and meditation had been incredibly helpful but even so from time to time the angst and the sadness are still there.

Man, "Depression" gets tossed around alot and I don't think people really understand the meaning. If you're "depressed" one week and feeling confident the next, that's not clinical depression. Feeling down is the correct term, which most people expirece, and it's normal. Actual depression is feeling like crap for months for no reason.

I think he means "for no rational reason", I notice my depression is the primary things which causes me to have bad thoughts rather than bad thoughts are what cause me to have depression.
For instance if I take tylenol (500 or 1000) my depression goes away if it is moderate or mild and the thoughts that bothered me dissipate (existential anxiety). This type of depression (I have MDD as well) is a form of mental pain, and this mental pain creates the thoughts, and the thoughts become intrusive and hard to block (aka requires expending energy), and if you let the thoughts run they will make you feel worse and worse like a feedback loop but the pain is the primary cause not the thoughts, the thoughts are a symptom of the mental pain/mood you are in because the thoughts can vary to different topics but the source is always the same. At least this is my experience, I always use CBT (aka stoicism) and it helped me with a lot of stuff, but ABC doesn't always work.
http://www.basic-counseling-skills.com/cognitive-behavioral-therapy.html
Sometimes its C=B without an A, aka Mental Pain = Intrusive Thought (its like phantom limb pain almost)
Most people will respond to ABC (and it worked for me with certain things), but existential anxiety is a very real rational problem that requires a different strategy, and I still haven't cracked this nut but avoiding carbs and taking tylenol are MASSIVE factors in dealing with it.

The problem is that a cognitive distortion (black or white thinking) is encouraged on this forum! Replace black/white with alpha/beta.
[–]NikolaTeslaMGTOW 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Black and white is bad because it is irrational and you are not seeing the fifty shades of grey. Alpha and beta is an introductory concept for newbies not a cognitive distortion, everyone recognizes alpha and beta is a spectrum that is why things like hypergamy exist because women want the greater alpha, and like it or not women will put you into these categories and you can't fix women's cognitive distortions so you just use them to your advantage. If you want sex, be as alpha as possible, if you want to be a beta orbiter or friend, be as beta as possible, if you want to be in a relationship be more mixed but leaning towards alpha. And these are very general points not express advice, I'm sure most guys would say be alpha with a little beta for LTR, and all alpha for sex. You will obviously have to calibrate for culture, setting, and age/type of girl but that's all more advanced.
Thats the other thing, its not even "feeling down". Most people think depression is sadness but it can also be anhedonia, aka numbness, where you just don't care or feel much of anything at all, apathy, disinterest. You don't gain pleasure from anything, you don't see value in anything. People don't even get that doing your laundry gives you pleasure, but it does, but when you have anhedonia even winning the lotto and banging 100 10's would be fairly meh.

Damn son, this is exactly what dawned on me today. I woke up feeling drained and depressed. I noticed how I had been feeling confident before and somehow not anymore. Then I put my thoughts in a row and felt good again, confidence raised and I felt some joy again.
