"Wear something nicer, we're going out."

"But this is comfy!"

"You don't look good in it. Comfy is fine at home, but we're going out right now." My eyes located a blue printed tee with a nautical design. She always looked cute in it. I reached over, picked it up, and tossed it at her. "Here, wear this."

She muttered petulantly under her breath, but she stripped out of the bulky college tee shirt and pajama pants she'd had on, and started pulling the blue tee over her head. She gave me a coy look beneath a tangle of red hair and blue fabric.

"Can I have a milkshake when we get there?"

I was taking her to a local burger chain for a late supper. We'd both worked long hours; hers was a late shift, and it was past ten now. Niether of us felt like cooking, so I decided a night of fast food wasn't the end of the world. The joint was famous for hand-dipped milkshakes, however, and she was jonesing for a chocolatey fix.

I smiled at her. "I don't know about that...we'll see."

"I have a serious craving for chocolate!"

I let my smile lapse a bit into sternness. "And you know what the purpose of a craving is, right?" I watched a knowing look come over her face before finishing the thought, "It's to teach us we don't always have to give in to cravings."

She pretended to pout - she thinks pouting is her secret weapon. "I had a really hard day, I neeeed some chocolate!"

"Need, eh? That's not very good, you're sort of convincing me you shouldn't have any chocolate. You know you don't need it, it's a dessert."

She pulled on a pair of denim shorts whilst putting on her best afflicted expression. "Fiiine, but I deserve it!"

I gave her a look. "That's actually worse, you know. No one deserves chocolate. Nobody in this world deserves anything."

Her mouth opened in astonishment, and I saw her take a breath to argue. But she waited a beat, and when she spoke, all she said was "I guess I'll agree to disagree on that one."

"The idea of deserving implies a natural scale within an objective moral framework, and objective morality isn't--" I stopped myself. This was pointless. I knew she wasn't going to know what I was talking about. "Never mind. C'mon, let's get going!" I swatted her ass on the way out the door.

I performed difficult task A, so I deserve reward B. I suffered traumatic experience X, so I deserve soothing activity Y. I paid off a credit card, I deserve that two-hundred dollar pair of pumps.

This idea of deserving is part of the human experience, but it serves to illustrate a difference of the sexes. Whereas men suffer this flawed mentality from time to time, it is absolutely crucial to the feminine psyche. As a man, I know that after a hard day of manual labor, an ice cold beer on the front porch is an indulgence that feels good. But to my girl, along with the majority of her sex, a double chocolate cookie at home is the only solution to a rough day at work. Five new pairs of panties is a just reward for cutting expenses in other areas. She deserves it.

There is no enormously effective Red Pill lesson here. It's merely a small insight into the psychology of the Feminine. And I thought last night's exchange with my girl highlighted it nicely; so there you have it.

When we were seated at our booth, I ordered a plain chocolate milkshake for us to share. Later, as she sat happily sipping it, I decided to reinforce the mindset one more time. "This is nice, and it's as it should be. There nothing wrong with an occasional indulgence, as long as we recognize it for what it is -- an indulgence."

I knew she didn't really understand, not with a deep knowing understanding. Maybe she never will, but that's okay. You don't have to understand a principle to abide by it. She's a good girl, and she follows my lead.
