Intro remark: I'm from Western Europe.

So the wife was watching a Dutch show called Divorce Hotel, which is a show where basically a couple legally divorces in 48 hours. So they have to come to an agreement on the house, cars, alimony, child support,...

This case was a woman wanting to divorce because because she just wasn't feeling it anymore and needed more excitement in her life and, as she mentioned, actually really never felt it (it bing love or in love). Didn't stop her from getting 3 kids with this guy. Of course she already had a new boyfriend.

The hubby in this case was pretty beta: low income jobs (part time mailman), little drive or ambition in his life, except for his family and volunteer firefighter. He absolutely loves his wife and kids. But, yeah, like that's enough.

Anyway, she apparently makes a decent living on her job. They still have a substantial debt in mortgage, credit card and store credit, but I digress. And the Dutch (like all Northen Europeans) are balls to the walls feminist. No, not feminist, gender equal. So the female judge who was mediating, brought up the income difference and the subject of alimony, from the woman to the man. The look on her face was priceless. Her exact words: why should I have to support a perfectly healthy man? Why can't he just go out and make his own money?

Very good question, Ilja (her name), why would anyone have to pay support to his/her ex after a no fault divorce? The female judge actually said: nobody wants to pay alimony, but law says you have to.

Just wanted to share the story. IMO the woman has every right to divorce if she's unhappy (too bad the kids will suffer) with her dull husband.
