Absolutely.

My opinion: I like to characterize alpha in three categories: Physique, Dominance, and Status. Alpha physiques generally have an easier time with one-night stands, but can't maintain harems and suck in relationships. Alpha dominants get laid plenty, but have to apply more game, and have a hard time with anything long term. Alpha status can have women throwing themselves at them, but have difficulty generating arousal and have crappy relationships. They have lots of women qualifying themselves for them, but are generally only interested in relationships rather than sex. I prefer using the terms arousal, attraction, and interest the distinguish these three kinds of alpha cues.

Of course! Alpha doesn't mean "good looking", it means "socially dominant". I've been in much better physical shape than I am now, I'm about ten pounds overweight currently, but I have much more success now than I did when I was lower body fat and my face had a more chiseled appearance.

Take a look at a lot of the hot and good looking young guy actors, like Robert Pattinson, or Penn Badgley, even musicians. These guys are contextual alphas, meaning they have social dominance in some circles, but they don't have the alpha mindset. Look at their real life photos, especially ones taken with girlfriends, and note their body language. See how they change their personal style to mesh with their girlfriends. See how Robert Pattinson got cheated on twice and is apparently still dating that chick.

I would say that a good percentage of guys on steroids are beta. Some can't even talk to a girl.

Yes. And there are alot MORE of them than you think. Especially here in LA, it's like a fucking epidemic of decent looking/ripped guys with super wussy personalities. Women give them a longer look, but lose interest eventually once the "feeling" isn't there.

Sure they will have "some" success and get lucky here and there. But normally they have to date down to do so since all the attraction will wane as soon as they get to know the guy.

Obviously if you can combine the looks with the right personality, then you get meteoric levels of attraction. Which is pretty much why I'm so godamn arrogant. =)
