I feel as if they do, but not as much as say, having a high BF percentage. If you are fit/muscular with low BF and have glasses, then won't really have much of an impact but I believe it gives off the perception that you have "bad genes." As in, it gives off the subconscious perception that you're eyes don't work right so if women were looking for a "mate," they would prefer their offspring not have what they think is a "deficiency"

I feel you man. Do you have girlfriend or are you spinning plates?

No, I was in a 6.5 year relationship recently and it was rough but I'm slowly putting myself back together. This post is funny because it brings to light shit she has said to me over the years like her liking the way I looked without glasses and wishing I was taller or thinner or joking about how "dark skinned" our kids might look (we are both Indian, my skin tone is darker than hers). It hurts but ultimately it seems as if she was "thinking out loud" as to how all girls think in terms of what they want in a man.
Dissociating the nature of a woman vs the hurtful things she could say is a hard thing.

Yeah TBH, they pref the a millionair Brad Pitt with the charisma of Denzel Washington and the game of Julien Blanc, but hey, guess what, we are normal guys, have our problems, but do try our best.
Best wishes brother, i feel you.

If you're Dyel then yes, unless you're black, they get a free pass from the nerd stereotype, if you're buff it gives you that Clark Kent look.
[–]AssedM 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Don't forget that the Clark Kent persona is the biggest beta with a massive case of onetis that is invisible to most people (intentionally) due to his bad posture, classes and demeanor. You do not want to be Clark Kent.

I didn't say emulate a Jewish power fantasy, I said you get some nice contrast when you're buff and wear glasses.
Im a normal average looking guy in either looks and body shape, no fat no skinny, with a little athletic component cause the sports i do.

Then you're Dyel bro, wear contacts, but for you, you don't even need them.
Yep, i can do most of my life without glasses.

Glasses lower your SMV. I experimented a lot with Glasses, contacts and just going without. Here is why they affect your SMV, they reduce your confidence because you are worrying about if girls like your glasses or not. There is a location factor as well.
If you are in a tech heavy area they can be a benefit if you have the right style to pull it off, if not go without.
I found so many more positive results with contacts that I went and had LASIK done. It has been worth it on so so many levels to never have to bother with glasses and I now wear a great set of ray bans most of the time outside.
I dive, surf and snorkel so not having to have eye correction is huge. Your body is a bigger factor but not having glasses will be better for your SMV

Cant do the lasik, my doctor told me like 5 years ago that i will never be able to do that cause of something i dont really know.
But i dont care cause i can do the basics without them.

If this was your eye doctor, LASIK is against his business interest, the tech has changed 95% of people are eligible. Go to a LASIK center for a proper evaluation to see if it's an option. It's among the best things I have done in my self improvement.

You gotta watch that Lasik stuff. My father is the healthiest guy I know overall, he is 67 and looks like he is maybe 47, lifts, dances, bikes, all around healthy dude.
Got Lasik a few years back; one year after the surgery one of his retinas detached. They managed to fix that one 100%. 3 years later the other detached , after five additional surgeries he only has about 60% vision in that eye.
His eye doctor at the time, who also happened to be involved with the LASIK said it was unrelated but his new eye doctor basically said it may have been a contributing factor because of the shape of his eyes.
It is not one of those things you just jump into without a lot of research.

Like everything it really depends on when you get it done and the procedure. I got it done at 33, I am hoping for 20 years glasses free. As always buyer beware, but my perception was a lot like the op's which is why I recommended it.

TBH i dont see why going when i just need them to drive or to read. I can do well without them.
Being able to just wear normal sunglasses while driving or not having to have a prescription mask while diving or even just gaming on a TV or computer is huge. It gave me a big confidence boost, and the more you improve your self the better you feel.
Yes they are, unless you are in top professional or academic settings such as working as a doctor or lawyer. I wear glasses and contacts as well and like you notice a huge difference when I use my contacts opposed my glasses. One bonus glasses give me is that it seems to give me more credibility for whatever reason; but outside a work environment I find wearing glasses an attraction killer with the hotter more superficial girls.
Yep, my bet also. Been wearing glasses since i was 4 years old, im 26 now. They were defenetly a attraction killer.
Still remember a crush i had in highschool (big crush btw) and the first time she talked to me was to ask me about the glasses and stuff. Like the whole talk she started cause of the fucing glasses. I was a young 15 yo with a bad experience in prior years in terms of social interactions (bullied and always responded with fighting), and I see this beautifull girl with these amazing bright blue eyes come at me and asking me about the fucking glasses. I didnt respond well TBH cause that was a shit test for sure, like they ask you that first to have power in you, cause its still something bad you have genetically.

It depends on the image you are projecting. If you're wearing expensive glasses and a nice business shirt and a suit, the glasses will contribute to your "professional" image. They tend to work if you are a more dressed up type of person. Glasses are just one small factor. I doubt that they are going to make or break your SMV in most cases.
