Freud himself couldn't come up with a convincing explanation of this woman's behavior.

Wants to wait for True Love™ - But seems to think erotic love compatibility isn't part of the equation

Thinks about sex constantly - But denies herself the pleasure and then memorializes it in the flagship newspaper of the United States

Feels empowered leaving partners dissatisfied - And is sure to "leave the door cracked for help" if they attempt to rape her (which is not that uncommon of a fantasy with control freaks)

This isn't about virginity or purity, I suspect. This woman is some real damaged goods. Furthermore, while her odyssey to ensure Mr. Right™ takes her virginity is noble, I think she misunderstands a few crucial reasons men traditionally like virgins: they are often good-looking younger women, they are often chaste, and they are good at producing offspring. This woman is none of these things:

  1. 35 years of age, hardly the zenith of peak sexuality in a woman
  2. Chaste in the sense of never having been penetrated, but has been involved in oddball soft BDSM power-struggles with other partners (and loved it)
  3. 35 year old ovaries. What a steal.

If this were some grand romantic gesture to give her womanhood to only one man, as she claims, then I would respect it. But this reeks of a sexual power-trip for attention purposes. The amazingly public confessions of constant thoughts about sex, the repression of desire, the lust for denying men what they want; if that's what my True Love™ was doing for over a third of a century, well then, honey, you can keep the hymen.

EDIT: Actually, upon a more sympathetic revisiting of the article, I've come to believe this is almost the perfect TRP example. You have two competing redpill ideologies in one: the general consensus among men that virginity is a desirable trait, and the declining nature of a woman's sexual value as time goes on.

To answer the author's question, yes, sadly, there is a shelf life on the value of your virginity. It was much more attractive a decade ago than it is now. Your value has decreased in the eyes of many men, even if you are still physically a virgin.

If you cut away the weird dominatrix/BDSM crap in the first few paragraphs of the article, I actually feel kind of bad for her. She's a true believer, an idealist in the way many of us were once upon a time. The world isn't as beautiful (i.e. romantic) as she has been led to believe, and this whole article reads like a bluepiller's lament from that perspective. Her realization that denying herself the physical act of sex - which obviously means a great deal to her - cannot outweigh the cold reality of her advancing age and declining value is like a miniature redpill in itself.

Some real Tolstoy shit going on here.

She has a very peculiar notion of "virginity" if all it means to her is an intact hymen, much like the good churchian girls I know who suck dick.

[–]Ididerus1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

...and love taking it in the ass.

[–]vaker3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She claims in other societies the word 'virgin' doesn't exist. Well there might be some random tribe in the jungle, but I understand 4 languages (speak 2 fluently) and the concept/word exists in every one of them. She's completely deluded.

[–]Technieker3 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Confirm it exist in Dutch. "Maagd'

[–]Inexplicably_Hostile1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Virginity doesn't really mean anything anymore. Condoms exist, birth control exists. It used to be that a woman who had a lot of sex but wasn't pregnant was pretty much guaranteed to be sterile. On the other side, a woman who has a lot of sex and gets pregnant has children to take care of. Either way their value as a sexual partner was diminished from an evolutionary standpoint. Today women who have lots of sex don't have any of those issues. Preferring virgins is an outdated concept in today's society IMO. Males with outdated selection criteria aren't as heavily selected against as females but there's still a pretty big difference. Expect to see the whole virgin obsession change soon. Also, there's little evidence that high sex drive correlates with cheating behavior except that it makes it way more likely you'll get caught. Also, women with high sex drives are waaay more fun.

Great example of last minute resistance.

She been nude in front of like 50 guys and never let any of them in. I wouldn't call her "pure" simply because of that; she's just deluding herself into thinking she's a good girl.

As for her question, virginity is always valued, but you an old bitch now. You got like +50 points for being a virgin and -40 points for each year beyond 24 (-440).

She likes to get on the cock carousel but not mount any ponies.

[–]1 Endorsed Contributormordanus0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I bet she has given head dozens of times and grinded herself into bliss on their chests or legs or whatever. She just has a hang up about breaking her hymen and to me that's not really a virgin except in the strictest of senses. She has been with multiple men and had orgasms with them. I wouldn't call her "pure" either.

Yes. A 60 Year old virgin is just hilarious, not sexy. You getting old at 35 girl, maybe your virginity can claim a pension too?

Wow. Amazing hamstering going on:

She's the fucking definition of a prude.

Oh god.

"BOULDER, Colo. — When I was 20, one of my close friends was killed in a car crash. At the funeral, as I watched her coffin carried down the aisle, another friend leaned over to whisper: “At least she wasn’t a virgin.”"
I doubt that actually happened. Has she ever even been to a funeral?

"I had to think about it. How disappointed would I be to die without ever having had sex?"
I dunno. Why dont you go get fucked and preclude that issue?

"I figured it would be a unique experience lost, but there are lots of experiences people miss out on."
And youre missing out on this one by choice.

"And I, for one, wasn’t going to let the fear of death scare me into having sex."
I thought it was a unique experience that youd be disappointed to die without, you little liar.

"I knew I would much rather endure the pain of missing out than suffer the deeper loneliness of having given myself out of love only to realize that the feeling wasn’t reciprocated."
Someones been watching too much reality TV.

"That was 15 years ago."
And now youre throwing a hissy fit because youre no longer in your prime and you have to compete with all the younger girls, and the idea of that scares the fuck out of you so you live in denial. Nice one, princess.

"Today I’m the token virgin in my group."
Wow, youre so special.

"Friends who happily have sex with men they don’t love are adamant that I hold out for “the one.”"
Yeah, 'the one'. What steps have you taken to find him i wonder?

"Being a virgin has become such a part of my identity, that I find myself living up to friends’ expectations on top of my own."
This is just laughable. Virgin being a part of your identity? You just finished whining about how sad you are that you havent had sex. Now youre just jumping around in futility trying to justify it because youre too old to get the man of your dreams.

"I’m not a prude."
Yeah, you would say that.

"In fact, I might be a candidate for a Guinness World Record: virgin who has come close to having sex the most times."
So now youre even admitting that youve had chances to have sex but youre happier whining about being a virgin than actually doing it. Good stuff.

So yeah. Lets address those slides.
I dont know of any groups who talk about virgins, other than churches or whatever :P
Your feminist friend is right, but i dont see the relevance. Youre the one whos stopping this from happening, and now youre late to the party.
You gave up opportunities. Go figure.
Youre a clever girl, just like the velociraptor in Jurrasic Park!
And some obscure place ive never heard of ended a war by denying sex, and for some reason the heavily armed soldiers didnt just rape them and be done with it.

"I like being naked with boyfriends."
Your point being? You dont have one. Youre just posturing.

"I’ve happily taken on a dominatrix role and men have enjoyed it. I once answered a booty call from an Ironman world champion at his hotel room (purposefully leaving the door cracked in case I needed to yell for help)."
LOL. If he wanted to rape you hed just handgag you. Just saying.

"When the champion informed me that I had not “finished the job,” I told him that, considering his world title, he could finish the job himself. I left feeling empowered."
Meanwhile, a few lines ago:
"How disappointed would I be to die without ever having had sex? I figured it would be a unique experience lost, "

"Some feminists might fault me for not having exercised my right to sexuality."
Oh shut up about your rights. I stand by that youre just crying about being too old to get hot guys.

"However, I was willing to give up a certain sense of pleasure to avoid feelings I feared: betrayal, emptiness, the loss of dignity and control."
Aha.

"I was inspired by the Greek women led by Lysistrata, in the ancient play, who refused sex until the men of the city promised to end the Peloponnesian War. I was trying to avoid an emotional battle."
Yeah, and like all plays, the accuracy is doubtful. Either way, they could have just raped their women. Just saying.

"But at the same time, I have doubts. I have given up opportunities to have sex with men whom I had incredible chemistry with, and some whom I loved."
See what i mean about how shes clearly upset about this?

"One friend, who did “save herself” for marriage, has argued that my virgin status is not 100 percent pure.

“If you’ve had an orgasm, you are not a virgin,” she said."
Then i lost my virginity before i was even a teenager :P

"“Dang,” I thought, “I should’ve gone ahead with sex years ago! Have I been wasting my time?” Was I like those Italian companies recently called out for faking extra-virgin olive oil?"
I thought you were all empowered and shit. lol

"“What’s a virgin?” I asked my female Saudi students during a recent women’s lunch hour at the English school where I work. “An unmarried woman,” one of them confidently answered. In other societies, the word doesn’t even exist. Waiting to have sex with one man would be considered being stingy with your sexuality, which is something to be shared with the community. What is natural and healthy for one culture is unnatural and unhealthy for another."
Nope. All wrong.

"“My mom found her true love when she was 52,” a friend recently told me, in a poor attempt at encouragement. I didn’t want to wait until I was 50 to finally have sex! Worse, what if Superman had already passed me by, and was already a speck on the horizon?"
And HERE IT IS. Read between the fucking lines. Shes 30 and shes never going to meet the man of her dreams, so she will eventually meet someone she decides will do when she no longer has a choice.

"I have always been a saver. When I was a child, I saved my Halloween and Easter candy for over a year. By the time I finally took a bite, the candy was hard and stale."
That was pretty fucking stupid then, wasnt it. I could say something here, but itd be a bit too vulgar for my public comment taste. You can probably guess what it was. It involved the last three words.

"I still have gift cards that are over eight years old."
And theyre all expired now. What a waste of free money.

"By the time I get around to using them, I realize they’ve already expired. My fridge is full of exotic jams, untouched and unsavored but certainly spoiled. Full bottles of French perfume decorate my dresser, their fragrance fading every year."
So basically youre wasting lots and lots of things. Gotcha.

"Is the same thing going to happen to me? What is the shelf life of virginity?"
Menopause. And your teens and 20s, but youve lost those already.

"Of the men I’ve had opportunities to have sex with, there were only two that I halfway regret passing up: the soldier and the painter."
Aww, how cute. rolls eyes

"Nine years ago, I"
Fuck off. *skips

"Two years ago, I"
Nope. *skips

"At 35, I still want to save sex for someone who is mutually in love with me and who accepts my virginity as a gift."
This isnt highschool any more, where virginity is something vaguely interesting princess.

"After so many years of holding out, I can’t change now."
Correct! Just not for the reasons you think.

"I just hope my hopes don’t go stale before he shows up or, perhaps more important, before I recognize that he’s been hanging around, waiting, the whole time."
Something else will be stale by then.

Peace out.

I really have to wonder...

LMR is SO common amongst virgins. Persistent LMR. Let's say, hypothetically, that everyone in the world follows feminist advice and doesn't persist past the first sign of resistance.

What percentage of women would die virgins?

Someone should show this girl this clip from Chasing Amy. Its an interesting discussion about if a lesbian is a virgin if she's never had a dick inside her.

OK, having read the piece, the woman who wrote it is nuts. She's a 35 year old virgin, yes, but she's using her virginity for some weird-ass sexual manipulations and games. A feminist (and that ought to be all you need to know), she's crazy.

As to whether non-nut-case, non-feminist women who are virgins have a shelflife? In my experience, yes.

A girl still holding on to her virginity past 27 or so starts getting this dried-out look. This is an empirical observation that I've confirmed too often to have any doubts. I have known several older virgins, one of them an extremely close friend of mine. They all had this weird New England, dried-out, spinster-y look (even though they weren't from New England). Why? Who knows, but they do.

Also, regular women who have not had sex in a good long while start getting this dried out look. As soon as they get banged good, that dryness vanishes, and they get this shiny-eyed, plump glow.

Just my 2¢
