I just watched a great Elliott Hulse video where he talks about trusting your "balls" and goes on to say that you have 3 sets of balls. Eye balls, testicles, and the balls of your feet.

Eyes are used to observe, and includes everything "behind" your eyes, like your analytical brain, etc.

Testicles represent your gut instincts about a situation or person. Trust your instincts. As Patrice O'Neal says, "if I feel something, that means it's valid." This is basically what you're talking about. If you feel the opportunity or urge to do or say something, do it.

The balls of your feet represent your stability and agility. Stability to stand your ground, and your agility to spring in to action or deftly navigate a situation.

So, I guess my point is, you need to balance your hesitation ("eye balls/brain") against your impulsivity ("testicles/gut"), and skillfully navigate or stand firm with your actions ("the balls of your feet").

Advice should always be given with qualifiers. Before acting if time permits, always do a risk vesus gain evaluation. Many times I got myself in trouble because I didn't hestitate and think stuff over.

But for most people the biggest problem is hesitation. So the guy posting about the chick at the bar checking him out, because he never did anything he will be crying about the big fish that got away. Most likely the chick was just playing games, but the fellow will never know because he hesitated.

I've always called it, pulling the trigger. But yes, shoot first ask questions later is a world changer.

While I've found that talking yourself into overcoming procrastination doesn't always work, it is possible to trick yourself.

This comes from the marketing strategy / psychological phenomenon of "slippery slope of psychological commitment". In sales, the seller will often have the prospect sign a piece of paper or fill a form which is otherwise meaningless but leaves an impression of commitment in the mind. Or give a free gift as a token, like a pen or keyring.

Similarly, I have myself write out plans or key steps. For anything I find myself procrastinating, from business to chores. Once committed and the writing starting me in the face, I find it hard to not jump to action.
