Yes, it's true that there are outliers. But when you give advice, you have to give advice based on what usually happens, not based on the possibility of an outlier. What do you want me to say? "Hey guys, good news! We can all get married now because /u/trafalgar112's gf's mom has values!"

The worst thing a guy can do is come in here and say something like, "help me find a unicorn!" That's the height of not understanding TRP. If you've really swallowed the pill, you'll accept the world the way it actually is, not pine for a unicorn or an outlier or the miniscule possibility that your marriage will work out, or the long odds that when it does fail she'll resist the urge to wield the power of the state as a weapon against you.

If you want to be happy, then be realistic. Forget marriage. Forget kids. Or alternately, accept living hell and financial ruin for the sake of having kids - I can totally respect that.

my sister did the same when she dropped her husband, her reason was not to get in a fight with her ex-husband for the sake of the children, unfortunate even that didnt help and dude is still a major dick, kids are with him and he is totally fucking them up.

NAWALT is a logical fallacy. The majority of woman gleefully divorce rape men, the fact that a small minority of women do not is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Her mom probably did something bad which she does not want to come out in court such as cheating. Only reason I can think of.

The friend of a friend also got an amicable divorce from his wife without much hassle and neither touched the other's money (he was doing well with his enterprise, she was inheriting).

However, given the propensity of women to either vilify or despise their ex-partners, I see where it comes from that many feel justified to ruin the life of the man they were once desperately in love with.

How much money is she getting? Is she employed? What are their respective incomes/savings/net worth?

If a couple can work out a divorce on their own, it's way cheaper than going through lawyers/courts.

You have presented more questions than answers and financially speaking, amicable divorces are superior than any that go through the legal system. If you're a gold-digger, and you can get your shit without a lawyer, that's a superior solution. I'm not saying that's happening, but I am saying that nothing in your post invalidates TRP.

Give it a couple years for the facts to come in, most divorces are messy but some aren't she could have a man lined up and want to make sure her baby girl get's the best from her dad and the best from step dad.

Give it time and all will become clear.
