Yes, he was himself. No gimmicks to his game. The guy was just a champ in his niche. He took me out to a few of his favorite bars and I met some of his friends. I never really could fit in with his crowd. It was just a completely different subculture from the ones I interact with. The guy was very passionate about Indy music, organic food and partying....typical hipster stuff. I found a lot of his humor very weird but his hipster friends found it hilarious. Basically, if this guy went to the meatpacking district (the upscale snazzy clubbing district of NYC) he would be blown out. But he was a king in his own domain.

I think a big aspect of finding your niche is having realistic expectations. There's a local cover band made up mostly of 40+ professionals. The lead singer isn't great, isn't tall or handsome or even in possession of more than half his hair, but he is the guy dancing on the bar with the microphone. For this he cleans house among the middle-aged divorcee and housewife crowd.

Self-identity is going to point you in the direction of your niche. There is a groupie for everything dude. If your heart tells you to be a DJ, have at it. If your heart tells you to be a petroleum engineer, a military officer, a research scientist or whatever, someone the reward for excellence is access to ass. If you are excellent at something and not getting ass, it is because you are not looking for it right under your nose. True story.

Self-identity is a big bite to chew. Some folks get it figured out early-on, some later, others perhaps never. And it can change over time: we could even say it should change over time. I mean if you're exactly the same person at 32 as you were at 16, then you're probably doing it wrong.

Status in your peer group, and displays of leadership. People are attracted to these things. Some of these people are women. Some of these women you may be interested in dating.

Yeah, a lot of these were broads he already knew through his social circle. Some were cold approach pickups but he had a solid pipeline and multiple girls on his rotation. Either way, he fucked at least 15 girls in the time I lived with him.
