Intro, first post, yadda yadda. I've lurked on here for a while now and I can say that I've swallowed the pill. My confidence and outlook on life are way better than they would have been a year ago and I can say that if I had not stumbled on to this sub, I might be one of the neckbeard-beta-losers that are mocked here. So thank you to all who contribute.

But anyway, I've taken to heart the idea of simply talking to people around my campus and on the street. And so begins my first rejection, which was today. I could not feel better.

I went a local hardware warehouse chain for an issue [not important] and at the service desk there was I'd say...a traditional 6. Hell, maybe a 5. Less than 5'9, slim, pale and not all to eye-catching, but she had a sort of punk-y look to her which I go crazy for. I give my problem to her.

[Possible mistake number one, I have a bad habit of talking to fast and it's said around here this could be a sign of insecurity]

I then need to repeat it to another lady and while she does her thing I turn my attention to her. Mind you, I'm a rank amateur so this is pretty significant but I felt calm as could be. I had noticed she has a tattoo so I identify. "Nice tattoo." I point to her forearm "May I?" She says thanks and extends her arm to which I hold and look at. I thought it was pretty slick "kino".I'm smiling and so is she we talk a little about her sisters tattoo and if she lives around here [there] and the such. I needed to go somewhere in the store for the problem I came in for so I leave.

Problem is getting resolved and I decide, "fuck it" I steal a pen and on the way out I stop at the front deck. The girl [Alyssa I saw on her tag] is doing something with a customer out from behind the desk so I wait until she's done and heading back before I go into action. Here is where I might have made my mistakes.

"Alyssa?" Smile and such and such, "do you work tomorrow?" [Little to odd and forward?] "No, why?" Smiling also "I want to get your number" I produce a receipt and pen "Um, I'm taken" Oh well, right? She's not gorgeous it's no problem. Probably should have left it. But, I thought why not push a little. "Oh, is he coming to?" I thought this was slick, little teasing. She's confused and asks "what?" to which I repeat twice and then she again says she's taken to which I say "Husband?" "no, boyfriend" "ok then, so what let me take you out."

She laughs and says "nooo, that's bad" then turns her back and walks to her desk. Whatever, I had a little fun and it's probably better since I wouldn't really know what to do with the number. I just smile real big and say thanks and leave.

I just take it as she was loyal, right? Either way, I loved the chance to straight ask for a number [my first really] and do it again.

Thanks for everything, and any replies.

[Forgot to ask, could anyone point out some bad moments or maybe give some advice?]
