The one I think of first, but I presume there are other similar things to back this up.

We could also say that women would be "happier" without competition. I wouldn't say that desire and happiness are directly linked.

I think you're looking at and writing about the male POV like a woman would look at and write about the female POV. "A man cheating on you would NEVER make you like him more." Well, we know that's not true, but it is absolutely what many women would say. While not exactly the same thing, you are doing something similar.

The exact picture in your mind of some woman taking a load that is not yours might gross you out, but the idea of that woman having a lot of options does not. This is kind of how I imagine it goes with women as well, for the most part. Most would not want details of your affairs with other women, as that would hurt and disgust them, but the idea that these other women desire you? That is attractive.
