I've reposting this with no-participation links. Sorry mods!

I've done this in a self post to better present accompanying information. First off, a link to the thread

So this guy, who is perhaps a little out of it to be sure, tells a simple story and asks a simple question. /r/intp is known for people of rather more timid personalities, so it's an appropriate and reasonable place to ask about who is comfortable breaking up by text. But if you were expecting to find any upvoted discussion, you're dead wrong. Instead, every single comment he makes gets downvoted, some of them into practical oblivion (comparatively, for such a small subreddit).

Looking through this, I was confused. What could get the timid INTPs into such a frenzy? It's rare to see this kind of bandwagon of upvotes and downvotes, and it's even more odd to see it in a thread about relationships, where INTPs are usually a little more awkward and less knowledgeable. This got my red pill senses tingling. I delved into the post histories of the top upvoted commenters, and lo and behold...

/u/Bit_4 - A poster in /r/girlgamers who defends Tropes Vs. Women and Anita Sarkeesian

It's the best idea ever... for you. What about her? I get that you're breaking up with her, but that's still a selfish and inconsiderate thing to do.

/u/Newtonian_Druid - This one's actually a man, or rather a mangina, who debates that men are rapists in /r/MensRights

I also broke up with a girlfriend of 3 years the same way last year

She really is a lovely girl, great sex and even better at cooking

Can't tell if trolling...

If you're serious, I think you're a dick, a coward, a robot, or some combination therein. At the very least, you're quite obviously lacking in empathy.

If breaking up face to face is truly a barrier (long-distance for example), then a phone call is the very least you could do. The medium is, in fact, an important component of a message of that magnitude.

/u/neou - Talks about how men who don't like her lower pitched voice aren't good enough for her in this post

My opinion is that you sound like an asshole who never cared for her to begin with.

/u/Legenderie - Posted a nice selfie in /r/femalefashionadvice here

It sure is convenient, but it is still a cowardly thing to do. I, along with many people on this sub do not enjoy/are not good at dealing with the emotions of others, but that doesn't mean that it is acceptable to break up with someone via text message. Unless the person was a cruel, abusive jerkwad they deserve a face-to-face break up.

TL;DR: You're being pragmatic, economical, and a totally selfish jerk!

So there you have it. All the discussion of the topic that doesn't insult and try to shame the OP lies snugly at the bottom of the comments section, with either 1 or 2 upvotes, or even downvoted.
