I'm a huge believer in Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose (AMP). Swallowing the TRP is what enables you realize that you're in an AMP environment and always have been when it comes to women.

Here's the thing - Alpha/Beta/Omega is very useful when discussing sexual strategy and sexual success. I'm not sure it pertains to life in general, or more specifically work. Betas will also deliver very good results in an AMP environment.

Anyway, thanks for sharing that Ted talk. I've read Pink's book but hadn't seen the video. His passion for the subject matter is inspirational.

The attack on profit incentive is completely negated once he says

"once money is off the table we can work on other motivation"

Money may not be a good creative incentive, but it is a good indicator and allows a lot of information to be expressed. Sucking the left wing dick for the first half of the presentation was obnoxious.

That said the AMP system is spot on. Intrinsic motivation is the best motivation. "if you do what you love, you'll never work another day in your life" kind of thing.

I don't know if it's a TRP thing. But modern corporate culture is def pro-woman and is destructive to creativity.

"once money is off the table we can work on other motivation"

This doesn't mean that people have a profit motive, it means they need some money to live and some money as a marker of status. Once people have that level of money, once their survival and social status are assured, once they are paid enough that "money is off the table", they lose the motivation to work for anything other than their own desires and interests.

Sucking the left wing dick for the first half of the presentation was obnoxious.

Congrats, you've managed to completely misunderstand a major point of the research by obsessing over left/right politics instead of caring about evidence.

Profit motive is an idea which was originally developed to explain the behavior of firms (businesses) in an economy. What the research he's cites demonstrates is that the belief that people operate with a profit motive is an ideological contention that is contradicted by the facts, i.e. it is a blue pill all it's own.

I didn't say it's wrong. I did say that I agreed with AMP and the current corporate culture was ineffective. You can't treat people as machines, and that's not something that is required in a free market.

the first half of the video is misleading as fuck because he's trying to emotionally convince the lefties in the audience with all sorts of 'I'm an American freemarket dude so I don't understand that just throwing money at someone doesn't help them write a screen play or cut thier arm off'

He spends a small portion of the video actually making his case for a better work flow, the good bit, and is just rhetorical for 2/3 of it.

And 'money off the table' is not just living expenses bro. The profit motive is still important, but the way it is applied changes due to the nature of creative work.
