Treat attention logically. You reward behavior you like and stonewall behavior you don't.

The girl is talking about something interesting to you? Talk with her about it. Engage her. The girl is shit testing you by talking about the last guy she fucked and how good he was? Disengage.

If you have to bring along a notepad and consciously keep score of how much attention you've given next to how much you've negged next to how much dread game you've done and put all this in some kind of mental equation, you're seriously overthinking something that's supposed to come naturally: conversation. Give attention to something she says or does that's worthy of attention. And don't give attention to things that aren't. Boom. Now you're validating behaviors you appreciate.

If she's on the ball all night and says and does things that excite you, and you end up showering her with attention all night, that's just fine. That makes it all the sweeter and more shocking for her when she does something stupid and you go cold on her, just when she thought she had you eating out of her hand. Ideally, you want a woman who's constantly earning your attention and validation by saying and doing all the right things.

You're right to be thinking about how and when you validate women. This is one of the most important concepts surrounding game. Giving too much validation is the biggest ways guys communicate their niceness and lack of options. That's why you want to be very conscious about how and when you compliment and show interest in a woman.

On social media, never ever give women validation. If anything, sneak a neg in. An ex of mine who I still sometimes hook up with posted a sexy photo I took of her on social media. Men were all over it, complimenting her like crazy. I commented, "That is one sexy toaster," because a toaster was in the shot. Of course, she loved my comment the most.

In person of course is where the game is played. Particularly early on in interactions, I rarely face a woman -- I let her face me. I don't even give her a lot of eye contact, unless she's qualifying herself to me. That's really the only time I validate her, when she's trying to win me over. But even then, I pull it back again ("You're pretty funny. Too bad you're such a dork.")

One place that you are almost always safe validating a woman is in bed. Once you're getting down to business, feel free to physically compliment her all you want. This links her validation with sex and keeps her coming back for more.

So my question is--what is the proper way to ration attention to females?

I handle this by going out and doing what I want to do. Digits is also a hockey fan, so we're watching the game when we're out together. There is some talking, but the game is the first priority for my attention. On top of that, I also talk to other people at the table. I don't make her the center of my world.

I like talking to Digits. She's a smart girl and we have a lot of common interests. I recognize that I could give her too much attention via the phone (text/calls) so I don't communicate with her via the phone that much. We do most of our talking while snuggling in bed or on the couch. I've found that giving attention while in process of a lot of body contact is the best way to give a girl attention in the idea of rationing it.

If you are a good husband your general attitude negates this need for crazy attention. It takes a while but if you actually care about the person you entered into a permanent bond with they don't feel the need to seek constant attention and yet still remain active in the relationship. Let us just try to figure out how to interact with women just enough to get what we want out of them but not enough to actually be a partner.

"that's just they way it is" is the last bastion of a person who has given up trying. There is a lot of cultural deprogramming that needs to be done in order for this to work though.
