tl;dr - actions speak louder than words.
Frustration, the isolation and the lack of feeling understood in this current society can leave us in situations where we just want to yell and shake people into having some sort of self actualization and awareness of their actions. But, as most of you may realize, that doesn't lead to anything but defense walls, further separation and a far less of a chance of that person opening up to these new concepts and ideas that are outside of their conditioned and automatic thoughts and behaviors. I've had situations where I just wanted to point out the error in someone's judgement or statement and whenever I did I found that all it did was make them defensive and distanced. I soon realized that you cannot change anyone but yourself. You cannot give information to someone not open and willing to receive it. Let alone in a language they cannot understand. lets say you are having a conversation with a 5 year old, would you start discussing philosophy and your existential ponders to them or would it be better that you alter your lexicon into a form that they share? Why say anything if they can't understand it? All you can really do is try and improve and if someone is open and comes to you for advice, you talk to them as an equal, not someone almighty and advanced, simply as someone who has been through similar emotions or experiences. Share only what they may relate to that helped you become better.
There are some people you can help, some you cannot. Until you can filter between the two you are wasting valuable energy. I spent a long time trying to support people who were harmful and using. My lack of self esteem and self love at the time were big contributors to this. I would try and help those who reinforced the subconscious views I had of myself which were very negative and belittling. Once I was used and disregarded it reinforced that idea I had of myself. After a few years of cutting off those ties and spending time doing lots of self reflection and meditation I came to understand myself and learn to see who really was receptive to change and working on becoming a better person. Like they say, actions speak louder than words. Silence and 'doing' has done more for me than trying to use words to get people to understand. Want to encourage concepts of altruism? Go out and do community work. Don't talk about it. Those who help others and feel the need to tell everyone about it (I'm looking at you celebrities) mostly do so to feed their ego and to look good. Just do what it is you want to teach and you will find people will value that far more than any "wise advise" you could possibly give.
Never discuss TRP , if the opportunity arises where you may be able to give some good advice, use personal experiences and terms the person may understand . Psychology, biology, watered down concepts.
Telling people they are wrong won't change the world, leading by example, having empathy and understanding and encouraging self development will.
