This is why you read studies:

"Next, subjects added as much hot sauce as they wanted to a cup of water they believed another subject would have to drink"

That's their "aggression test". It's bullshit. Think about it for two seconds: Someone thinking about guns is thinking about manliness when they add the hot sauce, while the group who played with kids toys is thinking about kids. Can I get a "no fucking duh!" on why one group added more hot sauce than the other?

The other study:

"aggression can elicit aggressive responses from people ready to act aggressively. 100 male university students received either 1 or 7 shocks, supposedly from a peer, and were then given an opportunity to shock this person. In some cases a rifle and revolver were on the table near the shock key. These weapons were said to belong, or not to belong, to the available target person. In other instances there was nothing on the table near the shock key, while for a control group 2 badminton racquets were on the table near the key."

Note in table 2, when the weapons were said to belong to the person being shocked, they shocked the person MORE.

If you can't think up a plausible explanation other than "guns cause aggression" to this one....

Why would it seem surprising that something perceived as dangerous would increase aggression? Thinking evolutionarily, when we see a tiger on the horizon, it absolutely makes sense for our body to start getting us ready for a fight, even if we believe that tiger might not be coming this way. Then, when we're up against that tiger, it absolutely makes sense that when we have our spear ready, rather than contemplate whether or not it is worth killing that tiger, we instead instinctively plunge our spear into it.

What possible reason would there be for guns to act radically different from other weapons; that we are always completely, 100% in control while handling them?

What are you trying to assert? That all the women who carry, including the grandma with a .38 revolver in her purse, have testosterone like GLO?

The sidebar bit on Gender Studies is Nonsense covers this a bit - Southern Americans seem to have higher test levels than Northern Americans, and the Southern states tend to be more pro gun than Northern states. You've got some correlation, but it's more likely that a culture that leads to higher T would also lead to pro-gun ownership laws than that simply being around guns causes that raise in T.
