The following is simply a reaffirmation of many things said on TRP. Hoping my experience can help others get off the couch and do what is necessary as a man

I was always overweight, and a few months ago I had measured my BMI to be over 30 (which is considered obese). This combined with my experience in Tinder really drove it into me that I was not in the top 20% of man, but rather in the bottom 80%. To change this I modified my eating habits and began going to the gym 4-5 times a week. I noticed results but I found it kind of dry to go, work out and leave so decided to take on a Martial Art - Muay Thai.

Best Decision I ever made.

The first class really took me by surprise - so much fun and the hour went by really quickly. I also learned that there is a Competitive circuit and Amateur circuit for fighting. I decided right then and there that I wanted to do amateur fighting, and signed up for a year membership. Driven by this new goal I go to 3-4 classes a week and supplement by going to the Gym an additional 3-4 times on off days (or sometimes same day). Now I find going to the Gym a lot less dry because it helps me in my goal of fighting at the Amateur level.

Finding a Purpose for going to the Gym made me want to go more.

And after working at it for a month, other people started to notice. In the last 7 days I've had six different people (3 girls, 3 guys) come up to me and tell me that I'm looking a lot better and confident. More importantly I feel more confident thanks to Muay Thai. This of course has helped me tremendously with my game and I've got a few dates lined up for the next week.

I highly recommend picking up a Martial Art as it helps to drive focus, confidence, and core strength

TL;DR: Always been overweight - started to eat better and go to the Gym. Found gym dry, picked up Muay Thai and found a purpose. Driven by purpose, did both Muay Thai and going to the gym and enjoyed it much more. Finding a purpose and working to a goal has helped my confidence, and I can better carry myself.
