Ever notice that the most vocal people who preach about morals and ethics are people who are already doing what they want to do? I don't believe in God and I don't believe in karma. There is no cosmic force out there keeping a tally of all my decisions. Morality is not black and white. Good and evil are subjective. .

The most successful people in society are those who are willing to abandon what society would deem moral and do what they need to do in their best interest. Meanwhile they feed to the common man that hard work and integrity will get them ahead. Now I'm not saying be a lying cheating asshole (though I won't blame ya if that's your choice). When it comes to personal relationships with other people by all means be honest and forthcoming. When it comes to business and professional environments do whatever it takes. Why would you tell the complete truth on a job application when the next guy may not? Why not play office politics to get the promotion? Professional athletes that take steroids to get an edge on the competition are usually crucified and shamed by the media. I commend them. Lance Armstrong was a champion who was stripped of all his achievements but the truth is he did what he needed to do to win, and I commend him for it. While he may have "cheated" he still probably worked harder than anyone else out there. Martha Stewart did time for insider trading. Donald Trump has been sued dozens of time for fraud. Puff Daddy, worth hundreds of millions, went to court for shooting someone in a New York nightclub. Bill Clinton was getting his dick sucked by his secretary in the oval office for God's sake. . .

In fact, in a world that is built on competition, part of me questions the intelligence of the people who aren't doing whatever it takes to succeed. Celebrities, politicians, business moguls, and professional athletes are constantly in the tabloids for one indiscretion or another yet they are the "winners" in society and the most famous and looked up to. The Saudi Arabian monarchy runs one of the strictest and most conservative totalitarian states in the modern world. Their women can't leave the house unaccompanied by a male relative or drive a car. Alcohol is outlawed. Atheism and deviation from Islam is punishable by death. Yet the members of the royal family themselves are known to drink alcohol, do massive amounts of hard drugs, party like rockstars in places like London, Las Vegas, Hollywood, and Dubai, and even have massive orgies and hire tons of prostitutes. They live a lifestyle that is a complete opposite of the lifestyle they harshly enforce on their constituency.

Self-interest is the basis of human society. Pure and unadulterated self-interest is the basis of modern economics. So why do we abandon this basic truth of nature when it comes to other aspects of modern society? The biggest "winners" in society usually have what the common man would see as piss poor morals. Yet the common man still looks up to these successful degenerates regardless of their behavior, while at the same time preaching a "work hard but never break the rules and you'll get ahead" mentality. Maybe they don't deserve to win.
