Start doing things by yourself, and choose your friends better. Back on the day i was kind of a similar situation, now days ill beat the shit of anyone who puts a hand on me. Love yourself , respect yourself and dont take any bullshit from anyone.

Hello I will attempt to answer your question as well as provide a few tips to overcome this "bullying"
Why it's happening: More than likely the only reason your so called friends are behaving this way is because you have the role of bottom feeder in the group , every group has one as it helps others boost their own appearance and status .
What you should do:
Do not blame anyone but yourself , while it is possible your friends are complete ass-holes its unlikely.
Lift , hate to even say this bc sidebar but it can really help both your confidence and appearance . Which are two major flaws you should work on .
Do not allow the behavior to continue . There is a way to let people know you don't like something without complaining like a bitch .
Side note : While this may should like a bit of a bash on you that's not what I'm going for . I'm simply trying to say that you my friend hold all the power to change your situation . It's simply up to you to take charge and move you life where you want it to be .
Best of luck brother

The only problem with this is that I do not want to be in solitude, I want to learn how to improve but not at the cost of not being myself.

And this is the problem. Better to be alone than to spend time with people who subtract from your life. Applies to girls as well. And employment relationships. And cities with shit weather.
Have standards.

You need to cut them off bro. If they all why tell them everything. A life with no friends is better than a life with bad friends.

Cut off all ties with any person who has disrespected you. Period. The people who actually care about you will seek you out.
Get used to and comfortable with being alone. You are calling these abusive people your friends because you feel you need their friendship. You don't. Stop associating with abusive people.
Start improving yourself. Lift, eat healthy, read more Red Pill related material. Get some hobbies, learn a skill and learn to be independent (find comfort in solitude).
From now on your number one rule should be:
People who don't respect you don't exist.

You have to be comfortable with yourself before you can maintain healthy relationships with people. You let people walk all over you because you're insecure, you lack high self-esteem and you compromise your self respect in return for some level of human interaction which has resulted in you having shitty 'friends.'
I know this because I was once you. In a lot of ways I still am you.
It's not easy and I'm not telling you to become a hermit, or a loner. You just need to be comfortable with yourself and stop relying on other people for things you can give yourself. Respect, love, dependability, all these things you can give yourself, but it starts with you wanting to change. Your friends and other people you meet through life are attracted to you on some level and you have attracted people who disrespect you because you don't respect yourself.
Your story is almost the same as a large number of TRPers. As such, a similar solution can be applied.

I do want to change and Ive spent time trying to even realize the problem with me. Would you suggest any books?

Follow the advice given to you. You can't live in comfort and expect to improve.

Dude abundance mentality doesn't just apply to women. It's a mentality that should be applied to all facets of your life. If the people you hang out with treat you like shit and insult you (they're not your friends), then stand up to them. Say it's not okay. Unfortunately it's probably too far gone to salvage the situation and defuse the hostility with an amused demeanour, so go nuclear. You are a dancing monkey to them. You are a source of entertainment and they sling insults at you because you let them.
If they stop talking to you and inviting you to things, find new friends. If you remove yourself and they eventually contact you asking where you went, what happened, etc. then rebuild the relationship. Have some respect for yourself.

That self respect can never be rebuilt. The person they know is a weak, pathetic person. If you stand up for yourself and change for the better, the crab bucket mentality just gets stronger. They will eventually become bitter and hostile towards you again.
So what exactly is to be done, neither be a loner no be with people for too long? To interact with them at a more superficial level?

I had a similar problem in high school and my early days in the army. I realized my problem was I was taking everything waaaay too seriously and personally. Now that I've developed thick skin, I actually enjoy when people make fun of me and you bet I'll dish it back. People even call me charismatic now whereas before it was the quiet pushover weirdo. Learn to be comfortable with yourself, don't allow others to effect your emotions, see the playful side in all things, and if it goes beyond a group of friends who are messing with each other then stand your ground. You may lose friends because your position in the group is changing but if they only want you to be the beta of the group then fuck em. Also stop carrying people's shit. When someone hands me something to hold and it's petty (like a chick hands me her purse but there's a bench right next to us) I'll grab the purse and in a very obvious and mocking way I'll put it down on the bench. Stop paying unless it's like a rotational thing and you know they'll pay for you one day. But the biggest take away is learn to take it less seriously. Best of luck my friend
