I was talking to a coworker today and she was trying to sell me on the importance of the "body acceptance movement", and how it gives young women a positive self image. This really irked me. Of course, said coworker was huge and has missed work on several occasions due to the medical complications of being a fatass. The core of these movements are that you shouldn't look to better yourself. Imagine a poverty acceptance movement, where poor people should be content with being poor. How about an education acceptance movement? Be proud that you didn't finish high school, or get that GED! Your self esteem and your confidence should be rooted in your upward mobility. The reason you should be confident is because you aren't content; tomorrow you'll be better than you were today. When you get compliments, remember that this isn't even your final form and stay hungry. Hit the gym, hit the books, look for better paying jobs and advance your career. Do whatever you have to do to raise your SMV **today, so that you'll be better tomorrow. "Acceptance" is throwing in the towel. It's saying you've done all you can do and you've already peaked. Once you "accept" yourself, there's nowhere to go but backwards. Remember that and move forward. We're all gonna make it, brahs!
