Is it just me or are introductions to posts beta? To clarify, self introductions.

"I started reading this years and years ago when I was max beta/white knight, I learned x, y, and z and have really been coming on the up and up." blah blah blah

And this goes on for multiple paragraphs. Maybe it is because it is 6:11 a.m. where I am and I have been working for the past 8 hours (hospital job overnights) and am tired...or maybe I feel like the introductions, though very possibly true and a reflection of a man who has begun finding himself in the past years, is just him pandering to me, the reader. As if they are acting beta to win the affection and gain a reaction from us readers as they prepare us for the contribution. Seeking our attention instead of demanding with a well written contribution.

And let me be clear, I do not feel this way when the point of a post is to share the journey...only when the introduction comes at the beginning of a theory or idea or anecdote and does not apply. If you are strong be strong, I don't need your story to understand your points, it is a waste of time. If you are sharing your story, awesome! But otherwise, don't you have some other shit to do?

-first time contribution, there's my intro, questions?
