Hey guys, so quite new here, but have been reading over a lot of testimonies and stories about NoFap and how it worked for so many and find it interesting. Now to get it out the way, this post is not to antagonize or stir any arguement but rather to genuinely understand and explore the topic and how different things could work better for different people.

I, personally, am not against NoFap if it does work and brings benefits to one's life, but from my experience (in my 30 years of life) I feel ProFap has brought a lot more positives than NoFap did or ever would. Let me explain. Having been always quite ambitious about my goals, I feel it's imperative to keep a clear mind in order to stay focused. And in my experience, going with no Fap for a prolonged period of time and being a single guy, quite frankly drives me nuts and makes me focus on chasing women more than I would like or consider beneficial to my goals. This has been happening almost every time I've tried with no Fap and has brought the same result. Now, one might say there is nothing wrong in pursuing women and embracing the urge to actively attract the opposite sex, but in doing so I think it is quite easy to for a man to lose his independent essence.

What independent essence you might ask? Every single time I felt the urge took over without any immediate outlet, I felt that same pursuing would turn to over pursuing, that same longing need to desperation, normal interactions with the opposite sex to social and aggresive behaviours that I wouldn't otherwise engage in and lack of "overnight success" to low self esteem and unexplaines deppression, all because now, there was this forever lurking urge, that has taken a priority and a forefront in my mind. Now, don't get me wrong, I can see how for some people it can be motivating, but I feel as though it might have a different effect on different people, such as in my case.

Every single time I felt the urge and was on NoFap, it almost always resulted in me lowering my standards, being out of character and lusting over some girl I would have never even look at was my mind clear, or worse, obsessing about having a gf, as someone who would always be there to take care of these needs rather than genuinely looking for a partner to share my life with. And frankly, as a man, I feel that is not a way to live. To me a man should live by his mindful choice and not be driven by feelings and emotions, and ProFap allowed me to do just that, be a man in control. I have never been more productive and focused on my true purpose, be my authentic self and frankly have better relationships with the opposite sex other than when practicing ProFap.

That being said, I do believe in moderation and balance as a key to life and something that should be applied in this context as well. Like everything else in life, I do see how ProFap could get out of control with someone with addictive tendencies, but I can also see how NoFap can have a man derail him from his purpose. Perhaps having a little treat once in a while could stop one from waiting forever and then finally binging out and losing the course, just perhaps?
