Pornography and masturbation dulled my ambition. I find I'm better off without them. YMMV. Don't take anyone's word for it. Give it a field test and if it benefits you, it does; if it doesn't, it doesn't.

There is not a Red Pill endorsement of /r/NoFap. There is only a Red Pill endorsement on what works. I have masturbated since I was 13 and whether I am dating 5 women, or 0, I will continue to do so. Some men get a porn/masturbation addiction and it starts to negatively affect their libido. That might be the time to start looking at slowing down. /r/NoFap doesn't work for me, but if some men need it and it proves beneficial then do it. I've had sex with girlfriends in the morning and rubbed one out later that night, but if you're not getting laid regularly and watching porn on a daily basis that doesn't sound healthy to me.

To me, pornography and masturbation is what truly removes this power of sexual selection from women. It is to say that I will only engage in sexual activity on my own terms. I will not let my sexuality rot to waste while I wait for a woman to decide my plumage is worthy of her selection.

This doesn't make sense.

If anything porn is just a simulated reality where you project yourself and where you can imagine any number of sexual conquests and almost any type of performances.

I would argue that many other types of compulsions take form in escapism and porn is mostly irrelevant to existence of this mechanism.

A similar thing can be true for avid gamers. Sure you can become a level 9000 paladin or a first person shooter demi-god while earning almost meaningless rewards and badges but these things are in fact placeholders for actual real life rewards.

There's nothing really wrong with drugs, video games, porn, indulging in excess every once in a while or whatever.

These things become wrong from the moment that you systematically use them as an immature way to cope and as attempt to escape challenges which you should normally face.

The same way that drugs allow you to numb emotions, the same way that video games allow you to become the highest achieving underachiever, I would argue that a porn addiction is not a way to remove women's power of sexual selection over you but rather a way to simulate success on the sexual market so that your brain is tricked into getting the same type of reward.

TL;DR : Smoke, drink, fap or do whatever you want as long as it's not ruining your life.

My guess with this is that there is significant variation on the libido of men.

If you have a really high libido, it probably doesn't matter because you are barely making a dent by watching. If you are medium or low libido, you might need to abstain in order to have enough motivating lust to go out and get work done. I imagine that this isn't really a one size fits all prospect.

Edit, as an interesting aside, one of the reasons sexual dimorphism is so much more striking in birds is that the operate on the zw chromosomal sexual determination system. ZZ is male and ZW is female. This allows the direct passing of sexual dimorphic traits from father to son, which promotes increased expression of valuable traits regardless of the effect on female offspring. This contrasts with our own XY system in which an X chromosome with a gene conferring a helpful male traits must pass through a female intermediate before going to another male. This sort of tones traits down, especially when they aren't directly helpful to the woman they pass through.
