Best case scenario : she was flirting but never thought about doing anything and nothing would have happened. She just did it to feed her ego, probably because she felt you didn't appreciate her enough.

Even in this case you are playing with fire. The real question is what she'd do if, for some reason you're busy or whatever and can't give her the attention that she needs. Will she do more to validate her ego or not? You can test this.

If she doesn't, then don't worry about the messages. It's not right, yeah, but she's just doing it to hear compliments and not because she actually likes those guys. Given everything else you said about her, in that case, she brings more good than bad to the table. In the end, you can flirt too. And that could even be a good thing if it's only about the attention, it means that she can give you space when you need because she can fill that need elsewhere.
