Perhaps desire is one of the most precious gifts biology gives to us. It allows us to discern quality from the universe. To build and seek beauty in all its forms. To make life worth living for ourselves and others.

Rejecting the ego and desire is a common and well trodden path. But another is to embrace desire and bliss, but to stay empowered. Nothing in this world can compete with a powerful enough imagination. You do not need to become a slave to desire or to reject it. You can become its master. You can have the cake and eat it too.

Just detach the need for consumption from desire. And to master your mind and it’s perception of time and experience.

Thanks I needed to read this. The ego wants to conquer everything but what we actually don’t remember is that everything is transient. See that girl over there with whom you have a healthy relationship? Well you and her break up and now the ego is hurt due to wanting her to fulfill the “loneliness” and the lack of physical contact. Learn to dissociate the ego from things such as money and girls and you will achieve much sucess

No offense, but this sounds like some Eckardt Tolle style bs to me. Desire is the most natural thing in the world, it is what makes you do anything at all. "Removal of desire" would mean that you just sit around doing nothing until you die of thirst. Complete nonsense.

What is this "true self"? I would genuinely like to hear your or someone else's theory.

Our desires/senses define our behavior, or our personality. There is no "real me", no soul, no ghost in the machine that is somehow separate from my desires and senses.
