When all else fails, craigslist is a decent place to look for temporary gigs, maybe fib a resume to get a job as a waiter while looking to get a career path going.

In all seriousness nepotism and cronyism are your best bets. Ask your friends and relatives to ask any business owners they know if they'd be willing to hire you. Trying to get a job based on merit in this economy will get you nice and homeless fast.

Also the black market but you have to weigh the risks, and you need to be smart enough (or dumb enough) to have confidence you won't get caught.

Thats pretty incredible, I keep hearing that people with PhD's get six figures almost automatically. If you are desperate you could check out USAjobs.com and be a government bureaucrat for 60k-80k with full benefits with the degrees you have.

I remember an interesting post from someone about this. He had a stellar resume that should be getting him interviews but it just didn't work.

The problem was his CV was aimed at executives/professionals and never got through HR, which is staffed by women with useless degrees. He did not list he can use Excel and Word, because it should have been apparent that he can. But to people who think using Excel and Word is an achievement, that was not apparent. When he dumbed down his CV a bit he was successful.

Another thing you may try is sending your resume directly to an executive.

I know there has been a ton of information about this issue on reddit over the years. You might try a larger subreddit and searching for older threads in askreddit or something.

Are there any industry groups you could join? They'll usually have networking events fairly often. People will make space for you if you can make enough of an impression. Worth looking at for now.

Making money online would be a longer term thing, it'll probably take a couple of years to build up enough of a reader base to monetize it. Find a niche you think people would pay to read about and blog on it then once you feel you're stable enough you can either go with ebooks or merch to make cash.

This is just a theory, as I haven't tested this out, but:

Go to Job fairs and employ Rooshv's day game. Of course, you're not trying to sleep with the recruiters (though it couldn't hurt), but rather your goal is two-fold: scope out the market, and lay out bait for bites. The bait that you'll lay down will be relating to your experiences and once they bite, you tell them all about your experiences, and number-close. Also, don't forget to hand them your business card.

I only have a Highschool Diploma (and I failed several grades) and a diploma from a technical school and I make $200K+ a year. You mad? You're apparently book smart but not street smart.
