Thank you for the update and glad you jettisoned the chick out of your life. Sorry to hear about your accident. It happens.

What have you done in order to maintain your masculine integrity in times where you have been kicked in the guts?

Best thing you can do is show strength. When someone asks you how you feel, say you feel alright. Keep the mood light and happy when visitors come. Have the attitude that "it is what it is" and those that don't accept this viewpoint will be miserable due to their lack of control of things. Like you said, it's a great time to show who your friends are. Don't forget that and be sure to buy them a few drinks when you are able so that you voice your gratitude.

Also, use the time to read up on a few things you haven't had time to. Books you've wanted to read, magazine articles you've saved up, etc. Rarely do the busy people in life have time to sit and really enjoy something from cover to cover these days.

Also fitness wise for those who have had physical injuries how have you been able to maintain your body/fitness.

Talk to the hospital about physical rehab therapy. Do whatever they tell you to do.

HGH. Don't take chances with a dislocation, you could develop osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis) and lose your talus due to its tenuous blood supply, too small even for microsurgery. It's like when you trip over a power cord and it becomes unplugged -- dislocation can pull something too far away from its blood supply. Reestablishing that blood supply is paramount.

Do hyperbaric oxygen. As often as possible for best results. Drastically improves healing in tissues with low oxygen delivery because oxygen becomes dissolved in blood serum and not just bound to hemoglobin (which is a large protein).

Don't make excuses, research these and get it done. I mean, only if you like being able to walk.

Use an exercise bike to get circulation back into the foot as soon as it can handle any kind of weight-bearing. Do all the physical therapy and rehab.

Do these as FIRST priority and girls after.

Keep up your upper body exercise. Now you have an excuse to skip leg day! Keep up your calcium intake, and your choice of supplements for connective tissue and blood vessels (e.g. glucosamine, proline-lysine-vitamin C).

You can still pick up girls while on crutches.

Masculine integrity? Do things for yourself. Drive with the other foot (depending on which one broke). Go out like normal. People will stop you and tell you their own story of having a broken leg.

Also, get out of the hospital ASAP. You need to sleep and after surgery they like to wake you up over and over to check your pulse for no reason whatsoever even though you are wearing a monitor. Sleep works better than pain meds. Save the pain meds for later.

You now get to experience 6-10 weeks of little things that you took for granted no longer being easy, followed by a walking boot which is a huge improvement but still with a gimpy foot. And in about 6 months if you do everything I said, you should be able to jog.

If you want to develop a skill that will come in handy later and doesn't require mobility, take up an instrument or vocal training. With the amount that some guys practice approaching, they could have developed a skill that is a huge shortcut to getting action. Live performance is social proof.

Good to hear you are ok, getting hurt sucks. Save up and get something other than the scooter.

Your injuries shouldnt cause too much of a fall in fitness, you will heal within weeks. Still there are things you can do, the main one is dont eat too much, with less activity you dont need as much sustenance.

My knees were torn up back in 2004, and I could barely walk until 2010. Gained 40lbs from that. Then in '12 I fucked up my lungs and would get winded walking ten steps to take a piss. Gained 50 from that and almost hit 300lbs. That is part of what ended the only good relationship I have had. I am down 50lbs, can walk again, have been very active, and the limited activity from the lung problem seems to have allowed my knees to heal. I can run short distances now, and walk or stand as long as needed without pain.

Watch what you eat, do as much as you can, and most of the thing with women is mental.

Follow your doctors orders. get better. Too passive nd you'll waste days, too aggressive and you'll hurt yourself and waste days. My bro in law did this once. He had a foot surgery and was on crutches and off of work for a while, so I was hangin out with him, well one day i had some shit to do so I left him alone, and he ended up breaking his big toe trying to fuck around too much on his own. I'm normally a proponent of pushing yourself, but when you have physical injuries that impede physical activity, you gotta take it down a few notches. Especially with the legs or feet, and the back.

Kick back and collect minerals, or something, but dont be a sulky bitch about it.

I broke the fuck out of my hip this past winter. Spent about a month in the hospital. LOL. Dude, for real man. There's something about being in a hospital.

Not sure if it's that they can take care of you, they have you captive or just that they can look at your chart and test your blood to make sure you're clean. Might be just that it's a pretext to show that they can GET AWAY WITH IT.

Seriously man, there's dirty girl nurses and there's daddy's little princess nurses, but they'll all treat you special if you treat them right.

Start being a little flirtatious. Find a shy one and build her up. You WON'T regret it!

Being on crutches will NOT hurt your game.

First and foremost, chicks dig battle scars. Secondly, it's an easy attention grabber if you take advantage of it and use it. Thirdly, your short term dependency can be used to your advantage. In her mind-while she's doing things to help you-she's thinking, "I'm doing this because I like him."

I will offer one piece of advice on the medical aspect. Don't whine, but make sure they understand if it hurts, and if it's a lot, you make sure they know it. Even minor pain can be something serious.

So this past week i dragged my ass to the ER for what I thought was a torn ACL. I had a first date planned that same night. I shook my fists at the sky, and defied the fates that would conspire to cockblock me. So with very little ambiguity, I propsed that she come over and "console" me in my infirm state... With beer and pizza.

She complied--rather vigorously, i might add. . I never once thought that my masculine integrity was in jeopardy and I'm curious as to what lead you to that interpretation.

EDIT: ok i reread the comments--your situation is more serious albeit temporary. Maintain your frame and accomplish what you can. Remember that men act, not react.

You gotta roll with the punches my friend, you will be back on your feet in no time. Literally, what makes you a man is how you respond to turmoil in the midst of the unrest. All of your progress is not lost, you have just merely run into a roadblock for the time being. This is a great experience for you because it will help teach you that, often enough, things in life do not go as expected, but that is no reason to give up. Hell, if anything it should motivate you to pick yourself up by the bootstraps and get right back at it.

So maybe your gonna have to take a bit of a gym break for a while, no biggie, focus on your diet to keep your weight where you want it. Spend your gym time for the next few weeks reading some books or learning some new skills you've always wanted to know. There are still plenty of things you can do to increase your value and keep your confidence high until your injuries heal up.

BTW on the scooter part, there are chopper scooters, so 50cc choppers such as Aprilia Classic, sometimes also called Aprilia Red Rose Classic. Where I live you don't need a special motorbike driving licence until 50cc so I rode one those for a year, of course they were slow and had a horrible acceleration, but they were still fun in narrower streets and looked cool. http://www.50cc-motorcycles.com/pictures/aprilia/classic50-05.jpg

Actually I am considering getting something like this again, but they are too heavy (125kg roughly) for the 50cc engine.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of motorbike shape is lighter than that, to get more speed out of 50cc, but still more fun and looks better than a scooter shape?
