That thread is hilarious. I don't know if he's real but he's doing a masterful job of subtly trolling the fuck out of them.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 47 points48 points49 points 12 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

  1. Women aren't used to rejection. When it happens, they short circuit. Of course, only a complete moron would propose to a man in the first place instead of the typical whiny ring-begging. If he wanted to marry you, he'd do it himself.
  2. It's horribly beta to accept a marriage proposal from a woman. You'll never live that one down. I can only imagine her hamster spinning "if it was so easy to get this man to commit, could I have done better?" as he politely smiles as she rubs it in his face that she proposed instead of him in front of friends and family.
  3. Askmen are shaming a man for wanting to stay single. News at 11

[–]fullpowerattack 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Related to your second point, I have a beta friend that I went to college with that I haven't spoken to in years, but I'm still friends with him on Facebook. He commented on something that I had posted, and I noticed that he took his wifes last name before his and they both hyphenate.

So lets say his name is Bob Smith and his fiance was Jane Doe. Bob's name, at least on Facebook, is now Bob Doe-Smith. He was always kind of a hippy, and he appears to have turned into a deeply religious person since he met this girl, so it's not surprising that he did this. That doesn't make it any less pathetic.

I actually had to call some of our old friends to confirm this, and they all agreed that he was just the biggest beta simp any of us had ever known. They were ashamed of their friend for doing that.

I still can't believe he did that. I kind of want to make it a separate post on here for discussion.

edit: context on Bob

Sorry about your friend. It's not a shit test if we all pass it

[–]PolegarVermelho20 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

What? That's the same subreddit where they're dropping RP knowledge yesterday?

OP: (26 up / 34 down)

I have a condo, a decent car. I have maintained my bod y, starting a software company with a friend in a year. worked for me.

BP: (36 up / 20 down)

Everything you just listed is materialistic. What an accomplishment.

Translation: I'm butthurt because you're successful and I'm in love with a landwhale.

[–]cdx75xmx 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

"My girlfriend proposed to me..." Nope, can't help you there bud.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When the rest of us go through "my girlfriend is ring-begging." If a woman has to actually propose, she should already know the answer.

[–]Mouthpiece 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. One of the most important things she demonstrated by doing that is that she doesn't know this guy at all. He sounds like he's probably not interested in ever getting married, to anyone, and she should've known that.

[–]noblepaladin 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is the same for both males and females. If you don't know the answer, then you haven't talked about marriage. You don't know what the plans for kids are. You don't know where the family will settle down. You don't know what the plan for the finances/careers are. The "surprise proposal" is only for the movies. The fact that people actually do it in real life shows how blue pilled and plugged into the matrix they are. Just ask your parents, grandparents, or other old people about how they got married, it wasn't a surprise (the giving of the ring may be, but they discussed marriage for months beforehand and decided to be married long before the ring).

Is it any surprise that marriages fall apart when nobody plans for it any more? You end up with stupid shit like the guy wants to move to the city for his career and the girl doesn't, but girl then becomes upset that her husband doesn't make as money as her peers, etc. Or guy marries girl and suddenly she stops working and expects him pay all her student debt. Gee... maybe they should have talked about that shit and came to an agreement beforehand. Who the fuck cares about that climatic Hollywood romance moment. That lasts for a brief moment. The consequences of marriage is typically forever.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've had not one but two women buy themselves engagement rings "to symbolize our relationship". o.O

Oddly enough, I didn't marry either of them.

[–]kukul 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link

"Women can propose too" is one of the dumbest fucking ideas I've stumbled upon in the recent years.

edit: Just asked my newly-wed sister what she thinks about it:
"They really do that? How pathetic."

[–]BorMato 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am not agreeing or disagreeing but can you explain why?

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because if a woman has to propose, she should already know the answer.

[–]no_game_player 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The men here are interested in being the leader in their relationships.

[–]magnomanx -5 points-4 points-3 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Please elaborate. Marriage is just a social contract that is quickly becoming more and more androgynous. In a same-sex marriage the gender of who proposes first is obviously irrelevant. So why should it matter in a heterosexual relationship?

[–]no_game_player 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

...this subreddit is not in favor of androgyny. If you want to be an Eloi, go ahead. But you can count us out.

[–]magnomanx -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

And there are yet still people who would prefer that interracial marriage was still illegal. The social landscape is always evolving. You are more than free to ignore that fact.

[–]no_game_player 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

We're also free to choose what to keep.

Why are you here anyhow?

[–]magnomanx -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Because I feel I have much to learn about TRP theory that can hopefully help me become less beta. But at the same time I feel like women still have the right to ask a simple fucking question.

[–]no_game_player 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well you've got a long way to go. What do you think the primary difference between alpha and beta is?

[–]magnomanx -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've only been hanging out here for a short while, but to the best of my knowledge alpha is the confident man who knows how to take advantage of the inherent flaws in a woman's logic, not giving a fuck about their opinion because there is always another girl around the corner. Beta is the guy who tries his best to make a girl happy while hoping she will never leave him. Very easily manipulated as he knows not of womanly shit tests.

[–]no_game_player 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Okay. Now which of these two is okay with a woman being the leader in the most important choice in their life?

[+]magnomanx -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't see her popping the question as being the leader. I see it has her beating you to the punch, since proposals should be expected and not a surprise.

[–]Crackertron3 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Being beat to the punch isn't leading, that's falling asleep on the job. Assuming that this guy actually wanted to get married.

[–]noblepaladin 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That is just feminist indoctrination seeping in. It is not a male vs female issue.

First of all, proposal don't actually happen like they do on movies. People don't actually do the "surprise proposal". They discuss marriage long beforehand, and often it is the woman who takes the initiative in starting these discussions, and both parties pretty much agree to marry before the ring giving ceremony/tradition of "proposal". People actually plan out their careers, children, finances, where they are going to live, etc before the proposal. I wonder if the people who the "surprise proposals" think that all cars explode if they are shot or that they can outrun explosions as they are happening.

As for the actual proposal, if you care about tradition, then the man takes out the ring and asks the question (which both parties discussed and agreed to beforehand). If you don't care about tradition, then I don't know why you would do any of this at all, as it is all quite illogical. To twist the tradition and have the woman ask is just feminism at work, trying to leave its stamp on everything when there is no issue at all, because if she actually didn't care she wouldn't do the ring thing at all.

A woman who pulls the "surprise proposal" is being dumb, because she doesn't realize that the "surprise proposal" is like trying to outrun an explosion, it is for movies only. By not discussing the marriage beforehand, she is setting it up for failure. And also, she is being insensitive to existing social constructs. She is robbing the man of the opportunity to follow tradition and she is setting him up for embarrassment among his peers, which has real social consequences. So even if the woman doesn't care for tradition at all, why would she choose to propose? The fact is she does actually care, she cares about feminism and getting that win against the imaginary patriarchy. If it were the wedding day and the guy suddenly showed up in a wedding dress without informing the bride, and everybody in their social circle laughed at the couple, the bride's head would likely explode. Then suddenly it is the guy's fault for not following tradition and embarrassing the bride. It is common sense that you don't just do that without consulting the other party.

[–]magnomanx -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are correct that I don't care at all for tradition which is why I have no problem at all if a girl wants to propose.

I agree with you about the 'surprise proposal' being bullshit. Life ought to be sorted out well in advance before the actual proposal. But I'm talking about 'pre-approved' proposals, where both parties know for certain they will spend the rest of their lives together.

But I do disagree with you about conforming to social constructs. If people want to stray from social norms, who has any authority to tell them not to? People have crazy themed weddings all the time. Bride and groom walk down the aisle dressed as a super hero or anime character. So what is so embarrassing if a bride and groom dressed as a groom and bride?

95% of the "men" on "askmen" seem to have a female alter ego/ male throwaways: shaming, blue-pills, misrepresentations & white-knighting as far as the eye can see.

70% of divorces are intitiated by women? -15 that factoid.

TLDR: OP is fairly red pill. Comments are massively blue pill. Lots of people shaming him and calling him sexist/immature, whatever. Wow these guys are a bunch of clueless bitches. Couple of good comments in there, saw one of our own "pachan" who dropped a good comment but damn, the threads mostly a clusterfuck. AskMen? more like AskBitches.

[–]James_Coook 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"I value my independence; I have always lived by “fuck bitches get money.” It has worked out for me thus far. Almost all the women I dealt with whenever problems arose, 90% of the time I ended up just cutting them off/stop talking to them"...Very Redpill here. The irony is this is what makes him so attractive to women.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

These comments are telling him to "man up" and just let love in. Unreal.

[–]noblepaladin 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The "surprise proposal" is an invention of Hollywood to create that climatic moment in movies. That is not how most people actually do it. They talk about marriage, kids, finances, where they are going to live, etc beforehand. Or at least, they used to do that. The woman might not know when the guy will take the ring out and actually do the proposal, but they already agreed to marry, have kids, etc beforehand. Just ask your parents or other older people on how it was done. It is never a surprise like in the movies (the ring giving might be, but the actual agreement to marry happened long beforehand).

Women have pushed the "surprise proposal" into popular culture because it works to their advantage. First of all, it is for bragging rights because they can claim that they got a guy to unconditionally commit to them. No rational guy should do this without an agreement on the plans for the future, you at least owe that to your potential future offspring. And secondly, it puts them into an unequal, greater position of power. If the guy proposes, he has huge moral and social pressure to follow through, marry, and love her, even if she changes behavior (i.e. stops working, gets fat, etc). If the couple discusses their long term plans for family, children, finances, etc. beforehand, then both parties would have to carry the moral and ethical responsibility to live up to their word, which is the basis for a healthy equal relationship.

And of course, a woman doing a "surprise proposal" to a man is another example of women/feminism convincing other women to shoot themselves in the foot. We already know that men doing "surprise proposals" are a bad idea. Why the fuck would you want to imitate it?

So in summary, most people don't actually do "surprise proposals", they discuss their future plans and come to an agreement about how they want to build their family. After agreeing to marry and agreeing on the future plans together, the engagement (e.g. the giving of the ring) may be a surprise ceremony. The "surprise proposal" or the "surprise woman proposing" are terrible ideas. Marriage, if you believe that people should marry, is the most important long term decision in life. It should not be a "surprise". No wonder divorce rates are so high.

[–]redpilldude 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She proposed to him? Gee, I wonder who wears the pants in that relationship. That's seriously the most emasculating thing ever.

Can you imagine what would have happened if he had said yes and talked about the engagement story with his friends and co-workers? He would never live that down.

[+]magnomanx -8 points-7 points-6 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I guess I can understand why some men might feel emasculated, but I'm the type of breed that doesn't give a fuck about what other people think. If a girl proposed to me I would see nothing wrong with it unless it was completely out of the blue.

Don't project your insecurities onto other people. Just because YOU would feel like your masculinity would be jeopardized in that situation doesn't mean any other man would feel the same way.

[–]redpilldude 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Don't try to shame me into being a mangina like you. Fuck off and go back to SRS.

[+]magnomanx -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, a mangina like myself doesn't care about what other people think. My masculinity is completely exclusive from anyone else's opinion about me. But a real manly man like yourself needs validation from his bros to maintain his masculinity, am I rite?

[–]redpilldude 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But a real manly man like yourself needs validation from his bros to maintain his masculinity, am I rite?

You're hamstering and missing my entire point. I think that you are a woman.

Let me explain how society really works. Regardless of what Feminism supposedly accomplished, gender roles are always going to exist to some degree.

[–]magnomanx -5 points-4 points-3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Apologies for my supposed hamstering, I just deemed it appropriate to reply to your ad hominem with something equally frivolous.

I will agree that gender roles exist and that people have certain expectations because of those roles. That's perfectly fine. But I think your missing my point which is that there are some people that couldn't care less about gender roles and what the rest of society thinks regarding the matter. Is a man less of a man if he is a stay at home dad? I don't think so.

[–]redpilldude 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is a man less of a man if he is a stay at home dad?

No, but many stay home dads have complained that people don't respect them.

In another article, stay home dads complained that they felt out of place in a women's world.
