Similarly, girls tend to use vulnerability to get validation from guys. Oh I’m so fat. She doesn’t care that her size may be linked to potential health issues or that it is damaging to her self esteem. She just wants a positive validating reaction from you. If, however, the both of you are having a deep conversation and she brings up her past, that she has always thought that she was fatter than other girls and it affects her self-esteem, then it is ok to validate and be concerned. But if she’s just off-handedly obviously fishing for validation, then don’t bite the bait.
I had this exact situation happen last night through text. I knew she was "fishing for validation" but I just went along with it anyway... seeing that I think I have a good enough "frame" of me being the catch. I simply replied "nah you look average".
She still wants to meet up, so we will see.
