From the comments -

chicks like chivalry when it comes from a super attractive, high status guy.

but when a guy who’s starting at zero performs chivalry, its a net negative.

the problem with a woman giving advice is she is thinking of a man in her life from whom she is seeking signs of attainability and commitment, then extrapolating that advice across the board. Chivalry might work fine for an alpha who has already imposed his frame and confidence, but when betas take advice that is meant for alpha males, they just spiral further down the beta drain.

But chivalry will never “impress” a woman. It can ease her mind, or make her feel secure, both of which can be positives at times in a relationship. But “impress” her? Never.

tbqh, I agree more with the latest comment

"I disagree with you, Private Man. I use chivalry with devastating effect. There has only been one female who reacted adversely to my chivalry. She was a high testosterone, ultra feminist cunt who informed me she could open her own damned door. Aside from her, women have always found it sexy as hell, bragged to their friends about my pulling their chair out and how amazing and old-school I am. I am an attractive and high status guy, but I think chivalry can work for any man who maintains frame and has plenty of confidence. If he’s a pussy worshipping beta, it will fail. I’m chivalrous because that’s who I bloody am, not because I want women to like me. My gf is still, after two years, swept off her feet when I take her out to a very upscale restaurant, pull out her chair and order for her. Chivalry must come from a position of strength. But it’s not something to avoid. If you, as a man, abandon chivalry because some bitches don’t like it…it seems to me that you are allowing feminists cunts to control your frame. I would be embarrassed."

Yea but that guy sounds so high status that it doesn't matter what he did. He could pull out her chair or he could cock smack her in the middle of the restaurant, it wouldn't make a difference.

When you have that status, it's trivial. For the average men of the world, chivalry isn't going to do dick for you. Without the status to back it up, you'll come off as a try hard.

I agree with this, but I think it has to be done correctly.

I was brought up that it was just something you did because you were a man and more capable. So I always viewed it as I'm "stronger, rougher, or more experienced" than the girl is. I viewed things like walking a girl to her door as protective and dominant, not as a way to get into her pants.

When done this way, and for all women, girls very quickly understand you see yourself as "taking care of your shit" and being dominant. If done only to "impress" women so they will like you, they'll see right through it.

More generalized:

When person X does something for person Y, it can send almost the opposite messages: Y needs to seek Y's approval/favor, so X < Y, or X does it because Y can't, because it is easier for X, because X is stronger etc. so X > Y.

Which case can depend depend on confidence, or circumstances etc.

I've always been very chivalrous myself. It has to come from a place of wellbeing, not desperation. A girl will sense that.

That said, paying and not paying DOES seem to have become a "thing" nowadays. Girls pay ALOT of attention to whether or not you offer to pay. It's apparently a big part of "the game."

I will always try to pay the first time, and the girl will pretty much always comment on that. Always. So I tell them they can pay the next time, and they're usually cool with that.

We're actually all grad students, and so we're not all very well off. Long Term Partner in Crime usually always buys for me. She has a very successful legal career.

Bottom line is, chivalry is NOT supposed to make you into a pussy. Just the opposite. Most people don't realize that though, and treat it like it's some sort of a code of honor to be a spineless little bitch.

I agree. Most of the rules and behaviours espoused by game sites are guidelines for those that are learning. Once you have mastered your game, you understand that there are situations when the "rules" can be broken to good effect.

I have no doubt this works for you, but as pointed out elsewhere in this thread and the comments, if you were a lower value man just beginning his journey, the chivalry wouldn't be so effective.

I would also note that your own philosophical knowledge of chivalry is probably a bit deeper than the average man, who has simply been taught to supplicate by his mother.
