Work environments in STEM most suitable for guys?

Civil Engineering = Construction = Men = Chewing Tobacco and Cigarettes = Outdoors

At my company there is no HR. There is no political correctness. Most of the guys on construction sites are cool guys that you can relate with. There's time to bullshit and there's time when work needs to get done and everyone works as a team. I have the luxury of working alone every day which is the way I like it, but when shit doesn't go according to plan I don't have anyone to look to for help. It's a double edged sword.

My experience is that STEM is a stupid buzzword. Nearly every worthwhile degree falls into a STEM category, and if it doesn't, the school will add "Technology" to the end of an already-existing non-STEM degree to make it so. Like most things dreamed up in the progressive world, statistics counteract the effectiveness of their creations quite frequently. As of 2014, 74% of STEM graduates were not employed in a job that requires a STEM degree. See "Census Bureau reports majority of STEM college graduates do not work in STEM occupations" (U.S. Census Bureau, 2014).

STEM programs often target "women and minorities" (as if they are one in the same) and operate in a manner that rejects men and their initiative and ideas. At least where I went to school, there was a hyperactive emphasis on group projects. Basically men were counted on to lead a group to an "A" while the rest of the group, often foreign minorities with no grasp on the English language to begin with, were pulled along and "earned" the same grade. When competing for jobs after graduation, guess who gets preferential treatment during hiring? (Hint: It's not men.)

I often think about how much better schools would be if they did only merit-based admission. The amount of creativity and constructive thought going on in the classrooms would skyrocket. Instead there are a lot of merit-less individuals running around college campuses these days, admitted into once-high-value degree programs and being supported by SJW administrators and professors who are more concerned about racial and ethnic diversity than academic performance.

My advice is to make yourself as valuable as possible so that you can work wherever the heck you want. I would certainly avoid large corporations like the plague unless you can ensure the specific working environment conforms to your workplace ideals.

Contract work for the government if you're in the software field. I'm getting paid 6 figures and I don't have to deal with any HR nonsense like company meetings or a coworkers bull shit stories. I do my 40 hours and collect my pay check. Nothing else. Feels good man. I worked in a place similar to you and it sucked ass. Only annoying thing is the people around me are liberal cucks so I sometimes have to listen to people talking shit about Donald Trump and conservatives.

I interned in a company where I did some PLC programming for a couple of months. If I were to describe what they do I'd say it's a mixture of EE and programming, but there was a blue collar aspect to it as well. A lot of times you'll see guys in hard hats and fluorescent jackets debugging a program with greasy hands. The department consisted mostly of male workers but there were women in there too, but I got along with all of them without exception. One of the women working there actually gave me a ride more than once and answered any questions I threw her way. The men were rugged, you could tell just by shaking their hand. They were also smart and funny, my supervisor cracked jokes all the time. There was also a sense of camaraderie and teamwork between them that I'd never seen before, whenever a problem occurs everyone gets involved and suddenly they all turn into problem solving machines.

The women who interned with me were also competent and interesting to talk to, but then again my experience with women in university in my country has been very different from what TRP describes since most of my female computer engineering (40%) classmates were dependable and disciplined. I actually tried really hard to think of even one woman that wasn't helpful and hardworking but no one came to mind.

As far as office politics are concerned, there were none because there was no proper office to speak of, only a small building with desks that are covered in electrical equipment. Most of the work was conducted outdoors on heavy machinery, sometimes under the sun and sometimes inside cranes with floors that look like those of the otherworld in the first Silent Hill game.

Prior to this I was sent to a more modern department, one that handled the logistics and the $$$ of the company. Air conditioned offices, phones ringing, cute secretaries, men in suits, you get the idea. For some reason I found this environment to be more intimidating than working in a place where you're required to wear a fluorescent jacket so that you don't get run over.

mid size corporations or blue collar industries that need analytical talent (think being a supply chain analyst or engineer) .....blue collar industries like logistics/trucking arent full of SJW. they're full of men who understand what hard work is. manufacturing too...

Computer Science = male dominated in demand field with low supply of quality goods.

Regardless of how much they try there will always be a glut of programmers and of female ones at that.

After first 5-7 years the you go girls have been weeded out and the rest drop off to make families (not a bad thing really). Eventually it's you and other male senior engineers getting shit done

I could not stand my last company where we had to draw pigs, talk about our favorite disney movies, and always talk about what we did in our spare time. I wanted an environment where the emphasis was on work and not chit-chat with ugly females who think they're shit doesn't stink.

Go somewhere dirtier. If it's comfortable, it's full of weak women and weak men. From now on, comfort is for losers, stupids, and fat people.

Clean and air-conditioned spaces during comfortable hours are full of the weak, the stupid, the worthless. Pay attention to the word Comfortable. If it's comfortable, expect more bullshit.

The gym I go to is full of cardio-bunnies during normal hours. I despise them, because they've noticed that they're not going to meet anyone worth a damn, if they stay fat. But I despise them, because they still think that cardio is a substitute to actual weight-lifting. But once they leave, once their classes are over, it's only true conscientious gym-bros and gym-girls left. Those of us who know that fat people have weaker and softer souls than we have. Because we know that cardio might be good. Some of us do it too. But all of us agree that lifting weights is what keeps you not-fat and strong and good-looking. All of us who lift weights, we know that those who lift weights, we're superior to those who don't.

I'm not sure if I should just focus on web development since that leads to the most freelance opportunities so I don't have to deal with BS office politics and be ostracized for not being a "team player".

You need to find a place where they cull the weak. You need to be in a group which excludes an outgroup. If you're not overtly and vocally looking down on the chosen outgroup, the landlubbers, the faithless, the socialists, the fat, the average, the non-STEM majors, whichever they are, then it's too comfortable, and it's going to become full of those you despise. Just like we here at TRP despise the bluepillers. Why work hard, why be a decent person, if nobody kicks you out, if there's no one who looks down upon you, right?

You need to find a place where everyone has to show themselves to be worthy to earning your belonging, a place where everyone has to earn their citizenship daily.

Think of how you STEM students at your university categorically despised every non-math major. As you should do. Some of the non-STEM:ers maybe proved themselves to be 'not-worthless', and then you begun respecting them and treating them like a reliable person. STEM isn't comfortable, is it? No, it's not. And that's why there is no bullshit among STEM-majors. The uncomfortable and categorical attitude of 'A STEM-major is superior to every other major', that's what kept your air clean and breathable. That attitude is what made you STEM-guys like your time at university. Despite how uncomfortable it was. You guys despised everyone who didn't agree with you guys, so the morons who now pollute the air of where you now work, they had to leave your university air space.

So, if you're not in a group which despises an outgroup that much, then you need to learn to live with the HR-bullshit.

I was also briefly employed at a game company with less than 10 people. That was heaven in comparison. It was nearly all dudes, we spent most of the time at work actually focusing on work and not bragging about our personal lives, and I felt accepted instead of ostracized.

Tell me, what was your outgroup? Who did you look down upon? Who were measurably inferior to you 'less than 10 people'? Who were the target of your jokes?

I work for a tiny company of military vets doing software engineering for gov contracts. 6 figures... work from home ... easy work. The company pres is very conservative and doesn't let SJW people in. The women are all passive and easy to deal with (though AWALT -- they are married and still flirt/probably hook up with the men).

Follow the demand. The best jobs often look bad. Few applicants = more demand = better conditions for you. The best jobs are going to be different depending on your area and your personal ability/preferences.
