Good points overall, though I'd personally prefer to earn a fat paycheck being a mere pawn in a sizable corporation if it means I can fuel my side projects, and eventually my own business, with it. Good on you for hiring people by merit and not by virtue of them having a piece of paper. If the other companies filter out CVs with no degrees on them, then I'm tempted to say the reason why your employees remained loyal to the company through its initial hardships was because they felt indebted to y…

If you're looking for a career, try get something at a small company that has potential. One where you could be fairly close to the owner/founder and grow with the company, work your ass off, get noticed. Latching on in these early years will prove hugely beneficial when the company takes off. You'll most likely hold a senior position when that happens. I'm in a similar situation right now. In all honesty, I'd leave if I didn't like the boss. But even by staying, I'm only postponing the inevitab…

I'm only a student myself but, assuming your curriculum doesn't already cover them, I'd say programming and some data science know-how wouldn't hurt. The former is useful for automation while the latter will help you detect patterns in the current state of things and make educated guesses about the future. You don't need to know advanced concepts of software engineering like design patterns or testing, simple scripting would suffice. Soft skills like public speaking, leadership and good communic…

If you want to do it as a hobby, sure. Otherwise you'll have to put in the work. I'm one of those guys. Not antisocial but definitely introverted. I dedicated my teenage and adult years to master the discipline of programming (among other solitary activities) and am still falling short. I'm also not the only one who's taken that route. It's a constantly evolving field, some parts of it are evolving at such a rapid pace that's it's nearly impossible to keep up (pro tip : don't keep up). The more …

In my experience, it is the other way around. I routinely witnessed people talk behind other people's backs to feel good about themselves. Some of them bond (in a twisted, corrupt manner) over this. Hours wasted in this meaningless activity. Note that I live in a Muslim region and this still happens all the time even though the religion forbids it heavily.

It can help if you use it to further your career. I use it for academic purposes and it's just a great way to communicate in general. For instance, we have a facebook group where my classmates and I exchange notes and information. There are various groups where people post job/internship offers and whatnot, programming-related groups where you can ask for help or gain exposure by helping others, groups where you talk about books, etc. We have access to all this for free (thanks to the 0.facebook…

I believe what /u/aigamithite is saying is that you should choose your battles (in his case, those which involve family and friends) and to try to refrain from getting involved in meaningless fights, like a random guy trying to take the lead in a social context. In other words, you should set boundaries and ignore anybody who isn't trespassing because it isn't worth the hassle. I'd like to point out that it's justified in OP's case because the guy attacked him, albeit in a passive-aggressive man…

Alternative viewpoint : it has always been like that. When you first came here everything seemed novel and exciting, but once the honeymoon phase was over, you started seeing it for what it really is : reiteration of what was already said in the sidebar.

I asked why, and they said so you can show that you went their! I looked confused and said "but I took the fucking photo, I know I was there". I don't get it. If someone sees the picture they might think that you simply downloaded it or something. If they see you in the picture, they'll know that you've been there.

My main takeaway has been that the structure of a good conversation is like a branched tree, where you start on a topic, get more specific and deep, and when you run out of material down a certain path, you regress to the most recent branch and work that one. This makes the flow of the conversation smooth and turns light topics into interesting topics consistently and effeciently. Are you a software engineer by any chance ? That sounds like depth-first search.

It shows that most people are wary of the convinced, because even if those people know they’re right, the conviction with which the speaker speaks that instills doubt into their minds. Another possible interpretation is that they simple give up on trying to correct your misguided opinion once they realize that you're utterly convinced by it.

Risk taking shouldn't be glorified in my opinion. Taking a risk with a 90% guarantee of failure is a recipe for disaster, especially if the reward isn't worth it. Good example of risk taking : forcing yourself out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Bad example of risk taking : getting married.

In OP's defense, this is just for casual no-strings-attached hookups. This advice is prior to achieving a sexual bond. After you're in a relationship things change. Relationships are complex, so this advice while has some application isn't designed to make your LTR's better.

A - blows up your phone and thinks stupid thoughts TBH she most likely has more options than he has, OP is not yet at the point where she will think he's worth the hassle. True. Don't fall into the trap of analysis paralysis. The effort you're supposed to spend on doing actually goes into planning so by the time you finish planning, you're left with barely anything.

In my (and OP's) opinion, hard work does pay off but only when it's invested correctly. For instance, you can do 5 sets of 40 pushups every other day, and while that is hard word, it doesn't give you the muscle mass you want. Another more general example is when you keep doing what you are always doing while expecting better results. The thing you keep doing is hard but it still doesn't give you the results you want because the effort is not invested properly. Hard work + intelligent and careful…

I enjoy TV and fiction books at the end of a busy day. If you're into horror then I can't recommend the nosleep podcast enough. There's a free 1 to 1.5 hour version where they narrate two to three stories, I listen to it at night in the comfort of my bed while cozily tucked in. It's a weird mixture but the atmosphere is great to the point where I look forward to it during the day. Great way to relieve stress.

Alright then, go for it, I wish you well. I still insist on the other option, but you would know better especially since it depends on how the job market looks where you live and how long you've been with the current company as well as the company's notoriety. For example, I wouldn't leave Facebook after 7 months to work for some startup in Silicon Valley that is doomed to go bankrupt after a couple of months.

Personally I'd leave. Not because of the coworkers' passive-aggressiveness, but because you seem to have peaked in your current workplace, there's nothing beyond that except stagnation or regression, both of which you should try to avoid. If you're the smartest person in a room then go to another room, that's how you evolve career-wise. I suggest you don't make the mistake of quitting before you start searching for another job, only leave when you have secured another job. Being currently employ…

After all, RedPill still is a forum for discussing sexual strategy, as it states in the sidebar. The way I see is that TRP discusses sexual strategy and not just sexual tactics. Chess players will be acquainted with the subtle difference in wording. Tactics are short-term solutions, but strategy goes deeper than that and addresses issues you might not even have yet. For example, if TRP were about sexual tactics, it would consist of how to get women for one-night stands, but it wouldn't address h…

What I'm saying is that it's subjective. For both you and me, FB is useful so we keep it. For others, that might not be the case. For example, they might want to stay under the radar for one reason or another, they might not be OK with the idea of having their preferences monitored and stored somewhere, they may realize that they spend too much time on it, etc. Just because people get addicted to painkillers doesn't mean you need to remove pain killers and anesthesia entirely from medicine Not f…

I'd say it's either cultural or it depends on the age bracket of the users. Older people are less likely to use it in the same way a youngster does. I'm a quarter century old so that puts me in the middle of "discard it completely" and "use it obsessively".

Frankly I've been on both sides of the fence and the only reason why I'm keeping it right now is because it's useful. For instance, I have access to 0.facebook.com (no pictures, only text) which is free, so you can essentially keep in touch with your friends and family without spending a dime. This is especially useful for school-related announcements, I'm subscribed to a group where people share those kind of things and you get to read them for free. It depends. Do the drawbacks of keeping a FB account outweigh the benefits ? In that case I'd delete the thing. It's like staying friends with your former GF after the breakup. The drawbacks often outweigh the benefits so it's better to remove her from your life.

Too many people confuse amoral and immoral. TRP is amoral in the sense that a knife is amoral, you can use it to cut vegetables but it can also be used to stab someone. The maker of the knife doesn't worry about any of this, he only makes knifes.

It's always a matter of perspective with these things. A good rule of thumb to follow is that if you're the smartest person in a room, you should find another room. This is a common saying among programmers (in the context of career advancement) but I found it to also be applicable to other aspects in life. When comparing yourself with someone else, you should also take into consideration the level from which you both started. Climbing from #2 to #1 is still going to be easier than climbing from…

That was one of the main selling points of the show IMO, it does bromance amazingly well. The Elric brothers share the same ambitions and help each other reach their common goal, it almost feels as though they were the same person despite the obvious differences in their personalities (and physique). What they went through after the failed human transmutation only solidified the bond they had instead of breaking it. Now contrast that to the relationship between Dean and Sam Winchester. If feels …

Here's my take on AWALT : Saying "all women are the same" is like a hardcore feminist saying "all men are rapists", and yet, many TRP subscribers embrace one saying while outright rejecting the other. What they really mean is that all men are potential rapists. Generally speaking, all humans have potential for evil (men and women just differ in how they inflict it upon others, the former being more aggressive and the latter more manipulative according to Louis CK), but we don't necessarily act o…

I've been taking cold showers exclusively for the past couple of years or so and the reason why I do this is simply because they're more practical. That's the main benefit of cold showers IMO. When you're showering with hot water, you tend to stay longer than necessary because it's comfortable and as a consequence, you end up wasting time, water, and whatever it is that's making your water hot. The reason why that happens, in my opinion, is this : when you get ready to shower, the room temperatu…

Been there, done that. At one point people you don't even know will come to you for help because someone told them you could provide it. At that point you'll also start to feel bad if you refuse to help someone even if it's perfectly justified, you'll feel as though you let them down despite the fact that you don't owe them anything. If a planche push up is too difficult for you then I recommend that you follow the (pseudo) planche progression from the bodyweightfitness subreddit's wiki. I don't think not being able to perform it necessarily means that you are weak, IMO the reason why you found it difficult is due to the fact that in addition to strength, it also requires a certain amount of technique and balance that are specific to this exercise.

I wouldn't really call it a technique, just an exercise to be honest. In the early days of the nosleep podcast, they were accepting volunteers so I figured why not give it a shot. He could be one of those guys who get rich by telling people what they want to hear. That the system is designed to be against them, that they are beautiful just the way they are, that it's not their fault, etc. People eat that up because if they're not responsible for something bad happening to them, why should they feel guilty about it ?

I share the opinion of this user. Being introverted doesn't necessarily mean that you're socially inept or that you hate people. It means that you enjoy the company of others, but you can do without it. In other words, you don't go out of your way to seek it but when it happens, you make the best out of it. One thing I think is worth expanding upon is this : Most of them are talking about shit I don't care about I feel the same way (and I bet many others do) not out of disdain or a sense of supe…

I stand corrected then, I remember reading about it somewhere but maybe I read it wrong especially since it's been a while. Do you think it depends on the ethnicity of the fighters ? For example, a Japanese MMA fighter would likely use Judo or Karate. I'm just speculating of course.

Also, I'm pretty sure MBTI is a scam. One of the guys who is on the board of the company that makes the test says that he doesn't trust or use the test himself. From what I read it's definitely controversial, but then again it's more accurate than the alpha/beta dichotomy we often use here. It says on Wikipedia that it was constructed by "Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers". Referencing a test that was designed by two women shows that TRP doesn't automatically reject and …

Came here to post this. This app is incredibly useful. The version I have on my phone is configured to store calls in the AMR format because those take less space than MP3s while retaining the same quality as far as phone calls are concerned (phone calls are compressed using this format IIRC), this allowed me to store near a year's worth of phone calls in less than a dozen megabytes. Not sure if it offers encryption though, that would be huge advantage. It also made me realize how lousy I sound …

INFP here. Not sure how established the MBTI is but I'll bite. Some things I noticed about the personality traits you described is that they can be a strength or a weakness depending on how pronounced they are. Here are a few examples : Everyone loves people pleasers but if you please too many people too often, it quickly becomes expected rather than appreciated. Recording your voice is a good advice here, because we're not used to hear our own voice like others do. I can confirm. Speaking from experience, it is good advice. In order to improve my English pronunciation (as I am not a native speaker), I have been religiously recording myself for the past year or so. Does the sigma feel any connection to the group? This part is hard to explain because even though introverts do love their friends, they rarely make the first step when it comes to taking initiatives to fuel this friendship, that's why the close relationship they might have once had decays when the thing that initially brought them together no longer exists. The worst thing you could do is wake up and immediately check your mail, facebook, twitter and what have you. It kills your mind before you even start the day, so try to avoid that. Personally speaking I find that checking those things on my phone right after the alarm rings is a great anti-snooze solution. By the men; daily. Do you have good friends despite this, though ? Do any of your friends practice martial arts ? Also, in what way do you get mistreated by them if you don't mind me asking ? I'm very curious as to what it's like to live in Japan.

I don't even get the shit talking about WOW thoug I could be mistaken, but I think it's because of the WoW community. I never played it myself - because I don't have the hardware to run it more than anything else - but I heard the community is generally considered bad, it being mainstream and all. When people realize you're part of that community, they consider you to be equally bad, hence the disdain.

No problem at all, it was a misunderstanding on my part. With that said, I'm afraid I am not very familiar with Chinese animation, so I can't be of much assistance. But good luck with the Mandarin !

Fullmetal Alchemist (and the "Brotherhood" anime adaptation) and Berserk, the manga. The former was actually written by a lady, Hiromu Arakawa. It truly is one of the best works of art I had the pleasure to enjoy. The latter revolves around a man called Guts, the embodiment of many RP concepts.

dude... what the fuck are you doing?? can you just like- stay near me! like, what's with you?" If a woman has a tendency to use the word "like" as punctuation, that's a red flag as far as I'm concerned. In the sentence above, the word "like" is redundant in all the occurrences. You can flat out remove it and the sentence will still be grammatically correct and make perfect sense. Edit : but maybe this is a cultural thing ?

Your post reminded me of a documentary I saw on National Geographic the other day. I don't remember the specifics, but it was about a professional dog trainer who helps people train their dogs when they misbehave. Assertiveness and confidence are two main aspects of dog training, dogs can sense those things and act accordingly. At some point he visits a guy who owns a very aggressive female pitbull (IIRC). This bitch keeps attacking other dogs and acting fierce around the owner. It turns out she…

I really like that subreddit, lots of creativity in there. Did you write something that attracted a lot of upvotes and therefore the mods' attention, or did they just randomly go through your post history ? I thought about creating a separate account just for posting here but then I decided against it, that would imply that posting here is something one should be ashamed of. Even though I try not to write offensive comments, I assume the responsibility of my posts, as defiant as they may be.

The last paragraph reminded me of Ken Ilgunas, he did some hardcore frugal living (secretly lived in his van on campus) to avoid having to take student loans. He wrote an excellent book about it, it's called "Walden on Wheels", but prior to publishing it, he maintained a blog where he wrote about his adventure as it unfolded. It was a very inspiring read, it might help you get through the remaining three months of your journey.

Here's the way I see it : cold showers are considered a "delayed gratitude activity" because after getting used to the cold temperature of the water, you feel warmer after you get out of the shower. I know this from experience, a few seconds after the water splashes against my skin, it will start to emanate heat, the mirror in the bathroom gets foggy despite not having spilled a single drop of hot water. However, I don't overdo it by staying under the cold temperature water for too long*, I usua…

One dollar is basically ~9 MAD, which is a lot for a beggar and hence people see tourists as walking wallets. A video was recently shared on social media, it was about a police officer trying to extract money from a tourist. The tourist had a hidden camera on him and filmed the police officer while he kept pestering him in broken english/spanish for money. It's not just beggars that you need to watch out from : cab drivers, salesmen, police officers, pickpockets, the people who are in charge of …

You cannot become a leader by asking others how to lead. You cannot be confident by asking others how to be confident. Isn't that why we read books though ? To learn from the experiences of other men ? Advice from more experienced people is valuable, but I agree if you meant that simply asking will not get you anywhere and that you have to put it the effort as well.

I did some googling on cold showers some time ago, that subject is controversial to say the least. Cold shower proponents advocate the ideas that are mentioned in this thread, but the folks who are against cold showers claim that those benefits are nothing more than baseless propaganda and bro science. I agree, being obsessed with a hobby rarely yields good results. But from what I noticed, you're more likely to get addicted to gaming than to reading because gaming is more "fun". I know plenty of people who game a lot and very few who read a lot. I think reading is tolerated because it's considered an intellectual and "grown up" activity whereas gaming is often perceived as child's play.

Gaming is frowned upon in the red pill community - and in general - due to its addictive nature. However, if it doesn't hinder your progress in other areas, I don't see the problem. With that being said, even if you consider yourself a casual gamer, gaming is a slippery slope and you can easily get sucked in. Personally I have a love-hate relationship with video games. I'm not trying to contradict you, and this might be a subjective point of view, but when the hobby starts bringing in money, it turns into a business and you tend to resent it when it doesn't bring you as much as you'd like, or when it stops bringing money altogether. Where I live post high school education is free, as in "you get what you pay for" free. Hence, it's mediocre at best. So I can't give useful advice on how to tackle this particular issue. The tone of this whole post is interesting to say the least. I remember a scene in which the traitor from Morpheus' group meets with one of the agents to negotiate a deal. Apparently he wanted to be plugged back in. Not only that, but he also requested that he makes him rich and famous. "Like an actor", he said. Which he is, in real life. This whole scene implies that we are in the Matrix. It was a subtle hint but I found it brilliant nonetheless.

I too am good at fixing and building computers, but I politely decline when people ask unless they are close or important to me. Why don't you monetize it ? For me, TRP isn't just a set of PUA techniques to get us laid with "easy" women. It's a way of life. A lot of us are into it for different reasons, mine being one of the most unusual : I'm on perpetual monk mode as well as on a 3-month nofap spree on hard mode. I plan on keeping it this way until marriage, since I'm blessed enough to actually live in a culture where old fashioned gender roles are still relevant, where marrying a virgin housewife is still the norm - to some degree at least. Arab here. I live in a community where if a man intends to ask a woman's hand, it is socially acceptable for him to demand a "certificate of virginity" from her family. But that doesn't guarantee much really, a woman can still take it a number of ways while technically remaining a virgin, which is something that isn't unheard of around here. Edit : but still, it isn't uncommon for a man to land a virgin that is wife material either, at least not as rare as in the more.. advanced countries.

Islam didn't come up with those things you said, they were commonly practiced and socially acceptable even before the revelation. There is no age of consent AFAIK, so you can marry whatever age is acceptable in your day and time. I can confirm this from personal experience. Past a certain age, if you display weakness, they might still take care of you, but they would do it reluctantly, in a half assed kind of way. And that is the best case scenario, at worst I'm thinking they would abandon you altogether.
