tl;dr Stop thinking that you understand everything TRP before you actually read the whole sidebar/recommended books. And even if you've read everything, it doesn't mean that you understand everything.

If you read about some TRP-related concept, don't immediately think that you understood it. Most likely you aren't.

Today, while reading Models, I suddenly realized I actually misunderstood the whole "let-yourself-fail" thing. I mean, overcoming the fear of rejection or becoming "vulnerable" as Manson puts it.

I've first read about the importance of being vulnerable (or letting yourself to fail) in the Book of Pook, then there was a similar chapter in The Rational Male and yet still thought that it's all about approach anxiety.

Nope.

After reading the corresponding chapter in Manson's book and through the examples he's giving I realized that it was about everything and that almost everything I've done or rather haven't done in my life was guided by the fear of being vulnerable, by the fear of failure, by the fear of rejection. (I won't be going into any details here - this is not the point of this post.).

There is a certain temptation to say "oh I already know that, let's skip it and move on" every time you see a familiar concept mentioned. Don't succumb to it. In order to learn, you have to read deeper and think deeper.
