You Can’t Control Your Thoughts and Feelings

I don’t think this one needs explanation. I’m sure you remember the last time you were furious and couldn’t do anything about it. Or when you saw a girl you fancy and your heart nearly jumped out of your chest. Pumping like crazy, wasn’t it?

The fact is: we’re only human. TRP or blue pill, stoic or not. Doesn’t matter. You simply can’t control the emotions. But you can control how you react to them.

Control your actions

This is one of the most empowering sentences in your life:

Fear can’t stop you from taking action.

It’s all in your head. The important lesson to learn here is: you’re not your emotions. You’re your actions. Just because you feel scared now, doesn’t mean you’re scared. Separate the emotions from the idea of YOU.

Next time you hear those voices in your head saying: ‘I’ll do it next time’ or ‘Nah, she is out of my league’ I want you to stop for a moment. Imagine a guy sitting on a couch in your head. Listen to him. You’re right – it’s him who says all this bullshit.

This is the easiest way to separate your thoughts from YOU. Will you listen to this little naysayer sitting on a couch inside your head?

So the next time you’re scared repeat to yourself: Fear can NOT stop me from taking action. And go do some awesome shit.

Starve the fear

Everything feeds on something. Humans eat food, fear eats time.

The more time you give to him, the stronger he becomes. Time is fear’s fuel. So why would you give it to him? Starve the motherfucker. Repeat the sentence from the above and enter action with boldness. Hesitance and waiting are your enemies in this case.

Mustering courage for days or weeks is for sissies. Ready, Fire, Aim – the saying goes. Strike like a fucking eagle straight from the skies. Calibrate and strike again. When it comes to approach anxiety and alike: the faster you act, the easier it gets.

Lessons:

  • Fear can’t stop you from taking action.

  • Starve the fear

Exercise:

  • Shower as usual, but at the end use freezing cold water. Each time you’ll try to hamster a reason not to do it. Each time you will do it.

Done.
